A witch with unique abilities is asked to hold a vampire hostage in her house. Holden Sumner is a deadly killer but will Kaitlyn be able to resist his charms? Read this Enemies to Lovers, Curvy Heroine, hot Paranormal romance to find out!

Kaitlyn Richards is a witch with powers beyond the norm. Her unique abilities make her one of the few people in the state of Florida qualified to be an S.E., or Supernatural Enforcer. As part of her duties she uses her home as a magical holding cell for creatures too strong to be contained in normal human jails.

Holden Sumner is a three-hundred-year-old vampire on a mission—he’s been stalking a serial-killing demon for centuries and he needs Kaitlyn’s help to kill it. The problem is, she won’t give him the time of night. But Sumner is determined to get under her skin.

Though Kaitlyn is reluctant to get involved with a vampire, she agrees to help Sumner search for the killer. But in order to drive the demon back to hell and stop the slaughter of innocents, she will have to bind herself more tightly than she ever thought possible to a man she doesn’t want to love though a sensuous ceremony full of intimate contact.

She and Sumner must form a blood covenant…or die trying.

**Author's Note--The Covenant was first published many years ago with a different publisher. Now that I have the rights back, I am republishing it with a hot new cover. (It's coming soon to Audiobook too!) If you already bought it back in the day, no need to buy again--the content is the same.

Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.

Oh boy. I started out liking this book at the beginning, despite the many obvious clichéd lines. But about 45% percent in, I was getting irritated with this book. The female lead was continuously acting dumb and stupider with every page. The maturity level was that of a petulant child instead of any kind of being capable of holding any position of importance or authority. It was even more irritating that a lot of issues could have been handled IF THE CHARACTERS ACTUALLY TALKED TO EACH OTHER. In the beginning, this main character knows that this vampire is trying to get in contact with her. Obviously to every read it must be really important that he'd risk getting caught and sentence for murder. So how come it took more than two attempts for this so called Wiccan to actually hear what he had to say? Oh, I'm tired and have paperwork to do so can it wait? Not now, I need sleep so is it so important that it can't wait until after work tomorrow? What the hell... No, it's really not THAT important. It's only a life and death matter, but it can wait. I can wait for you. Yeah, that black oily thing that’s trying to wrap its tentacles around you and siphon all your powers and most likely kill you in your sleep, well it can wait. And it's not really that important that you should TALK-TO-YOUR-NANA-AT-ANY-POINT-ABOUT-ANY-PART-OF-THIs-BECAUSE-IT'S-NOT-AS-IF-SHE-WOULD-BE-ABLE-TO-HELP-YOU-EVEN-THOUGH-SHE'S-AN-OLDER-WICCAN-AND-MUCH-WISER. No, she has nothing to contribute when it comes to binding a demon.

And then, as if the intelligence level of this female lead character couldn't get any worse, the way the story is written makes the character seem like she can't complete a single thought or just that people don't respect her enough because she is constantly being cut off. I admire writers who can use writing devices to perfectly deliver a line, but when a writer uses that trick over and over again, it getting annoying.

Examples:

"I don't... don't know anything, blahblahblah."

"Do you think... think it's okay for me to assume?"

"I don't... don't think this is such a good-" "Yes it is, woman. I beg you to listen to what I have to say"

Erg. There are countless lines delivered in this style. It subtracts from the story greatly.

And then there is this old three hundred year old vampire who at one point gets on his knees and begs this chick. BEGS... That just, well it just doesn't do anything for my image of this vampire. It so doesn't make me think powerful and dubious or crafty or silently says danger. Nope. I find it hard at times to think of this vampire as anything but a creep vulgar pervert flasher at times.

Finally, is this main character THAT powerful? I mean she unlocks cuffs at a mild level of focused concentration. She even manages to light a dozen candles or so- a task that is suppose to just be so very difficult to do... Feel my amazing admiration for her level of sorcery? Yeah. It did take a considerable amount of time to get rid of the oily goo in its second attempt to attack her. But, then again, she did half the help of the vampire with that one. I just don't feel that this character is that very powerful just because her nana and the old vampire say she is. SHOW DON"T TELL. Just having the character reciting a few incantations, also doesn't make the character seem any stronger?

Over all, at 47%, I called it quits before my irritation level hits a new height and I start taking my emotional state on the innocent Wiccans around me.

Shucks I'm Speechless! Really what was this book about again?

Whew! From what I recall,Kaitlyn Richards is a...... ah.........Powerful Wican a.k.a Witch. She works as a SuperNatural Enforcer. What's that? Errr.....Dang it! (pauses for a moment and checks highlighted notes again) A person with paranormal abilities that the Law enforcement hire, because they don't have the accommodations (cell) to hold a paranormal being. So Kaitlyn as an S.E keeps a room in her home that is warded and bound with silver just for these special paranormal beings, known as "VAMPIRES" Oooooh Creepy ain't it? ahahaha...

Holden Sumner,The Hottest Damn thing in the book! A.K.A. *whispers* THE VAMPIRE....muahahaha.....300 years old,the oldest of the oldest of vamps and still kicking! Sumner, kills a human being to setup and be arrested to be in the presence of "The Oh so powerful witch KAITLYN" Why? He has a vengeance against a demon who killed his wife (which Kaitlyn, just so happens to look exactly like his wife,Just saying) Anyways.....he needs Kaitlyn's special witch powers to do a spell and bind herself to him, while he uses his special vampire skills to kill the Evil Host/Demon,who by the way, hates woman and is going on a special mission as a .....*Dun-Dun-Dun*........ "Witch Serial Killer" and Killing all the witches. *Lifts hands in defeat* LOL!

I'm not trying to rag on the book, but there was just so many things that made me think, that maybe this book was intended for people that have never read a paranormal romance book before. To me the book was too cliche'.It just went into to much detail,on what vampires are.The only thing I can honestly say that shocked the living "Vampire Wisdom" outta me,was that this was the first time, that I have ever heard of a Vampire that not only has to drink blood to regenerate from injuries and such, but he can also regenerate from a woman's fluids (orgasms, get it?LOL). YUP! You heard me correctly. LMAO!!!!! The best part of the book was the Smexy Vampire and the sex scenes, they were HWAT! Other than that,no it wasn't the kinda book,I would say "You gotta read this" I think it should have been shortened up a little and maybe it could have been better. The novel does have an HEA for anyone who is interested in it or already has this book on their shelves. It was just not my type of book.

Kaitlyn Richards, a powerful witch, reluctantly agrees to a limited blood bond with Holden Sumner, a vampire, so that together they can banish a cunning demon who enjoys slaughtering woman and feeds on their fear and desperation. Sumner has been tracking the demon for three-hundred years and is focused on revenge for the death of his beloved wife. When he and Kaitlyn first meet there is a spark of awareness between them that Sumner never expected, and he goes to extraordinary measures to help Kaitlyn recognize her own beauty and desirability. Kaitlyn is convinced the feelings she has developed for Sumner will dissipate once their task is accomplished.

This sensational story captured and held my attention throughout. The relationship between Kaitlyn and Sumner is never smooth, and I enjoyed the sexual tension they generate even as Kaitlyn fights valiantly against the growing attraction. The monster is also particularly creepy and well-drawn. Kaitlyn is a strong female protagonist who has some hang-ups and flaws that endeared her to me all the more. I would love to see this couple in another adventure and hope there will be a sequel.

When reading this book, keep a fire extinguisher nearby! Kaitlyn and Holden may set your computer on fire in this deliciously sexy novel. Kaitlyn is a S. E. (supernatural enforcer) and she has to bring in bad-boy Holden, a 300 year-old vampire. She ready to turn him over to magical magistrate, until she finds out she needs him in more ways than just one.

Ms. Anderson has crafted a sexy tale and just when I thought the action was over and true love would save the day, she dialed it up a notch and threw in a wrench on the machine. The chemistry between Kaitlyn and Holden is white hot and stays that way, and Holden is a super, sexy Alpha hero that is intent on having the powerful witch. But Kaitlyn isn’t sure the vampire has her best interests at heart and tries her hardest to steer clear, even though Holden isn’t a man you can say no to easily.

The characters in the book were well crafted and leapt off the page. Kaitlyn wasn’t perfect but she was a strong heroine and relatable. Holden ended up being more than just your two dimensional hero. While the sex was hot, it was a little tamer than her other books but still hot.

This book was highly enjoyable, especially with the sexy Alpha vampire. If you are looking for an erotic romance with a strong plot and super-hot sexual tension, Ms. Anderson has created a winner with this book and I can’t wait for her next story.

Good Story

I enjoyed both the plot and the romance (to some extent) in this book. The plot kept me interested, whereas the romance kept me more than a little frustrated. I understand the heroine had certain prejudices to move past for the romance to blossom but seriously, it was just too prolonged for me. It became repetitive. I've read one other book from this author and it was also frustrating for me for the same reason. Angst is great but you can take it too far. Honestly, maybe I just dislike this writing style. Besides this issue the story was quite compelling with a decent plot. It definitely deserves three stars.

I had a hard time rating "The Covenant." A lot of what I liked about this story had more to do with its potential and its possibilities than the book I purchased and read. I felt a little like an editor must feel when s/he reads an excellent manuscript that is "almost ready" for public consumption but would benefit from a little "fine-tuning."

I really enjoyed the ratio of storytelling/plot development versus erotica. The sex scenes were very sexy and memorable, but they didn't "take over" the entire story.

A witch who finds herself getting close to a vampire, something that is taboo and not really accepted, to fight a big, bad threat. Smutty fluff, witches and vamps.

I’ve always loved Evangeline Anderson. She was one of my first “adult romance” authors I ever followed.
In the book the Covenant, Katy has to make a choice as a Supernatural Enforcer. Let the vampire go or let the demon keep killing wiccans. When the demon comes after her, Sumner doesn’t take it nicely.

From the moment he met her he has had a thing for her. Always to be seen as the monster because he is a vampire, they never have had a moment alone until he forces the issues. Using dirty tricks he gets himself arrested and held at Katy’s house. There she gives in to her bodies needs, letting him touch her and awakening something inside her that she has no control over.

When she finally lets him go, they are temporarily bound. He hunts the demon and she waits for his call. When everything is said and done? Can they defeat the demon? Will they get their happy ending?

Her nana, has other ideas! She makes it near impossible for a vampire and witch to be together and now Summer has to do the unthinkable if he ever wants to be with again.

The Covenant

Wow! This book was amazing. I loved the personalities of the characters and their quest to do good even though an evil demon is causing havoc and destruction. When a witch must decide between what she is taught as good and evil and a vampire who needs her help, things go from bad to worse. I highly recommend this book. It has danger, romance, witch craft, spell casting, prejudice and trust issues that need to be resolved.

Honestly I only picked this up for the spice. And I was not disappointed 👀 Damn that vamp’s dirty 👄 🔥🫠
It’s a quick and easy read. The plot could be interesting, the execution was not as fortunate.
I liked the idea of the blood covenant(and its means of achieving 😏😏), but I was expecting more, really.
Anyway, if you’re looking for an easy read to finish in a few hours and be sure to get a HEA, then pick this up. Just don’t hype your expectations.

Your typical paranormal romance w a serial killing demon thrown into the mix. I think I would have liked it better if they spent a little more time focused on the demonic plot rather than some of the other stuff but overall not a bad read. 🧛🏻‍♂️🫦😈🍷

I don't like the Vampiner's surname Sumner's. I like the Holden name better. I am liking the book so far. I didn't like chapter about the house rooms to do with human's. I know that she is a witch. I am not liking this book has much has the, other,Vampiner's books 📚by Evangeline Anderson.

I like the name Kaityln. I liked the spell to do with the cuffs. I liked reading 📚 the love💘 scences. I ldidnt like chapter 16, about Fiona dairy. I liked the last 9 chapters. I liked the idea 💡of the bond and the Vampiner's bite with his fangs the Wiccan or witch.😀. I look forward to reading 📚 more books by Evangeline Anderson.

Anderson knows how to mix business with pleasure. There is a real romance story here, with a few sex scenes that are GOOD! The sex does not overtake the story, but has just the right amount of “Oh Yeah!” without being overdone. This is not a “stand out” among vampire stories, but still a great story, well written, that I have put on my reread shelf. Beware this is Erotica but not porn. The language during sex is kinky without being overdone.
