THE STORMFORGED: A Fantasy & Science Fiction Novel

Rate this book
Echoes of a forgotten strife resurface, and the gears of fate turn anew.

Altrameda has served as a lab assistant and friend to the Tinkerer, her kind-hearted but perplexing inventor, for many years. But when she wakes up to discover she has been abandoned in a basement for more than two decades, she wants an explanation.

With the help of an old friend, Altrameda tracks down the Tinkerer and learns that there is far more at stake than her own chassis. She learns the truth of her enigmatic origins, and begins to question the creator she thought she knew. The Tinkerer's past deeds - and misdeeds - threaten to unravel the known history of Falkirk... and set the future on an altogether new course.

I loved Altrameda!

Whether you like robots stories or not, I believe you will love this one. It's a mix of science fiction and fantasy. Altrameda is the only one of her kind…At least she thinks so.
She is sentient. The author's work on making us see her as human is remarkable. I knew she was a sentient construct (don't call her that), but if not for the reminders of her size and strength and most of all her looks, for me, she WAS human, just with a different built (no skin).
She loves her human, the Tinkerer, and you can feel it not only in the words, but also in her actions. We learn her story as we read because she actually does not remember everything that happened since she was 'asleep' for a few decades.
The story pulled me in. I could not stop reading and yet, I did not want it to finish. I remember reading something similar (a sentient robot, not the story itself) many years ago. That one too had left a mark in my heart (Robots like blue), so I was so happy to have found something I could sink my teeth in. I knew from the start that I would love the book, and I was right.
I cannot urge people enough to read this book. Wonderful read!

What a lovely story.

This book is one of the better attempts at Artificial Intelligence (AI). Today we have what is really machine intelligence. In truth, sentience requires intelligence, emotion, curiosity socialization and so much more. We don’t yet understand these characteristics well enough to program them.

Nonetheless, if God allows any form of sentience, He can certainly bestow it with a soul. If we are ever able to develop an actual sentient self aware machine, then as a great quote says, the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. Ask yourself, why would a machine that can survive in so many more climates than us, even care to take over earth? Should they wish to be free of us, all of space would be available to them.

The author's ability to bring the world of AI to life is commendable. Through vivid descriptions and attention to detail, readers are transported into a realm of science fiction and fantasy.
While the book is fictional, it draws inspiration from real-world issues and ethical concerns.
It is thought-provoking and the way this book was written completely blew me away.
Grey has an incredible way of painting vivid worlds with words, transporting me straight into the story. She is a master at using language to create the right atmosphere and build tension, keeping me on edge throughout the entire narrative.
The characters are incredibly well-developed and complex, making them feel like real people rather than fictional beings.

What a novel!

The Stormforged, being the first fiction novel by author S.M.Grey, is very good and catchy. The author's narrative is captivating from the beginning and with her great ability to create characters managed to keep me reading until the very end. They are well developed and intriguing.
It has a narrative full of descriptions which makes it easy for us readers to understand and follow the story without missing a single detail. The dialogues are well developed, which means that in each of them we can get to know each character better.
I found the reading not slow or fast, it has a good pace. Once I started reading I couldn't stop. I wanted to know how the plot was going to develop until the end.
It is a book that I recommend without a doubt.

S. M. Grey wrote this book with great use of imagination, clearly destined to lovers of the Sci-Fi Gender. The Stormforged follows the story of Altrameda, who belongs to a nearly extinct race, a fact that's been kept from her for the majority of her life. Now, she has to decide what to do with her life, either she fights for her own kind or tries to find common ground and peace.

Overall, I find this novel very interesting. The concepts developed led me rethinking about the society we live in nowadays. A great job from a talented author, definitely recommended for people looking for an entertaining Sci-Fi story that gets you hooked until the last page!

Help me read more books

Story about androids trying to be part of society who hasn't seen one for about 300 years. Technology has backslid after developing the androids, and they're just trying to help (and be left alone), but events conspire to make that impossible.
It's a decent story, and whether I'll read more in the series or not is still up for debate, but it's not a bad first showing in the series. If you're a scifi fan, and you like android stories, this one should be on your to read shelf.

The Stormforged is a captivating book that mixes together fantasy and sci fi. It has a lot of adventure and discovery taking readers on a very well described world. The novel has good character descriptions as well. I think author S.M. Grey's style is easy to follow; fans of these genres are going to enjoy it. I like that in the middle of everything going on the book also has some moments of reflection, making a very mismatching attraction to me.

To conclude, I think it is a very detailed and compelling novel that leaves the reader wanting to see what will happen in the next book.

Good read

A good deal of action. Fast paced. Towards the end felt a bit rushed, but was a good read. One of those you pick up and not want to put down until the last page. Would definitely be interested in seeing more books continuing to flesh out the story and continuing the journey.

A Real Sci-Fi novel

Sentient Mechanicals, Hate, greedy humans, misconceived Mechanicals, old memories.
Fast forward to the present, you have an old Tinkerer who happened upon a mechanical and inadvertently restored said mechanical to awareness. Here starts the story that leads to possible war and redemption.

Good read

Wonderful story with characters you’ll come to love and care for. Also, just enough plot twists to keep you guessing but not so many that things get confusing. You won’t regret giving this story a try. I’m glad I did.

Forging ahead…to many more!!!

A very enjoyable read…looking forward to the series. One of the things that interested me was the emotions coming from the robots. The question is…how do you program emotions? Again…an enjoyable read.
