It’s a very short alternative ending story to Moby Dick, where Ahab survived. And instead of going after Moby Dick again in the name of vengeance, he goes looking for the mythical terror of the sea, the Kraken.
The logic behind Ahab’s decision of going after the Kraken is a bit puzzling. He basically says that he’s got his behind kicked by a large pissed off sea creature. He lost a leg, a ship and his entire crew. He doesn’t want to make the same mistake again. So this time, he’s going to piss off an even bigger and more dangerous sea creature … That said, the fight scene between Ahab and the Kraken is really cool. So I don’t want to complain too much.
I’ve never read the original story. But the Kraken is a bit of a favorite of mine. And this short story is available for free. So I couldn’t resist picking this one up. Overall, it’s a fun and entertaining short read.
Have you ever rode a whale? Well after reading this story you might think twice of wanting to try it! :)
That is all you get on a cryptic statement as this story is super short and I cannot say anymore without giving away spoilers so if you are intrigued then go read this book!
