Tyber hoped that the King would waste no time in putting him and his hordemates back on the trail of the scale-clad monster. He was eager to return to the Wight Valley, follow their leads, and finally put an end to those responsible for the dragon sickness. But King Aymon has other plans.

In the mother city, a former guardsman is believed to have further knowledge of what is happening to the dragons of Cadwaller. Tyber and his mates are to find out what he knows and report back to the King. Finding the guardsman will prove to be tough enough, and getting him to divulge what he knows will be something else entirely.

As they dig into events both recent and past in search of clues, events lead them directly to the rich and powerful who control the city in King Aymon's absence, and when they get too close to the truth, they find themselves barred from the city. With their leads nearly exhausted and their movements curtailed, Tyber and his hordesmates turn to old friends for help in completing their mission, and unexpectedly uncover an old familiar enemy and a plot to overthrow the King and his family.

A bit of a slow start

Seems to be the problem with both book II and book III. I'm glad I decided to give it a chance and stick to it by kimmed past the boring sections. I finished the book.

Overall, the story is a good one, if you can handle some sludge along the way. There are sections that make you anxiously hold your breath, because of what is happening the story and the dragon riders in it. Some sections are really fantastic, so well written, you can't put the book down.

And then there are times I felt like I had stumbled onto a master wizard of a storyteller, wizard because of the wisdom that suddenly springs up and hits you between your eyes.

All I can say to this is, It takes a wise person, having lived long enough, to use an opportunity when it presents itself, to impart such wisdom through the telling of a dragon tale. Wisdom we all can benefit from, but probably would not appreciate, would most likely ignore, even roll your eyes at, but works because its wrapped and told around that fine story. 😲

Onto book 4.

amazed

I’m amazed at all the twists and turns in the plot! How in the world to you put a story together like this?! Intricate details, lots of intrigue and scuffles, and life like characters. You can truly see through their eyes!
