The B&B

Rate this book
The whole world has been on lockdown since the start of the pandemic. And now that a vaccine has become readily available to the public, it is time for McCall Harris to take that long-awaited writing retreat. McCall is a twenty-something receptionist by day, writer by night, and long-time sufferer of anxiety and depression, thanks to the man who randomly attacked her on her sixteenth birthday. After years of therapy and medication, McCall is ready to put her past behind her to focus on becoming the next best-selling author.
Hazelhurst Manor – a remote and historic Victorian bed-and-breakfast in the mountains of Maine – is just the place McCall needs as inspiration to write her next book, and to possibly find that confident, courageous girl she used to be who did not depend on medication to get through the day.
But when she learns the truth about who…or what is running the B&B, McCall realizes the success of her retreat will depend upon her survival.

Yes, I get to be the first to review this awesome book!!

McCall Harris is a self-published author who is looking to write THE BOOK that will get her in the bestseller’s list. She just needs a good writing retreat location where she can be inspired and write in peace. But there are a few things in the way such as money, her sometimes crippling anxiety due to being attacked years ago, and a pandemic caused by a deadly virus. Now that a vaccine for the virus has been developed and quarantines are lifted, McCall is *almost* ready to embark on her adventure, especially after she finds a remote Victorian mansion in the mountains of Maine that is a super affordable bed-and-breakfast. Now she only has her anxiety to contend with. Could she do it? Could she get on a plane and leave the safety of her tiny apartment to chase her dream of becoming a bestselling author? With the help of her therapist, McCall takes the big leap.

But the B&B, while gorgeous and interesting and inspires writerly ideas, is a strange and odd place. Even stranger are the people who work there. Soon, McCall gets more than she bargains for, and she must become the heroine she writes about in her books in order to survive at all.

Great writing, great characters, and I was thoroughly entertained by this book! I highly recommend!
