Hip deep in shit. That’s as adequate a phrase as any. Kaylie Brooks, newly appointed Detective of the Santa Barbara PD is trying to live life her way, after dealing with attempted murder by her ex husband, who had now been found dead, of apparent suicide in his Santa Barbara jail cell…Kaylie knows Brad too well to accept this is suicide, so what gives, senses heightened and tempers flaring, Kaylie throws herself into her work pellmell. But at what costs? And how far are people willing to go to bring Kaylie down?

Kaylie and Joshua are invested in finding the killer of a beautiful au-pair in an affluent area of the city. Last Wish is a fast-paced story, full of twists, that has deceit, lies, voyeurism, and pure human wrong instincts, all of which grabs your attention from the beginning.

Although the writing is very basic and some parts of the story dragged on, I still found it very enjoyable.
There are more subplots in this part in the series than the previous two novels which I didn't like. I don't understand why there was the need to have 4 subplots featured and not explored in depth or end them.
The last 50 pages my interest started to pick up and the way it ended made me want to continue with the fourth book!
If you're interested in a quick and easy read, definitely give this a go!

Not engaging.
The writing is very basic, I ended up skimming through to the end. I really only bought the book to see what was happing with her husband’s family and what happened to her sister.

This was a quick listen. I LOVED the whole plot, characters, and all the twists. This one was super fun to listen to! Highly recommend!
