The setting: The small town of Shadow Falls

The Hero: Devin – Alpha of the wolf pack that protects Shadow Falls from other supernatural creatures like vampires and witches. His Betas are Dom and Caleb.

The heroine: Gracie – is living with her best friend Lizzie. They have been best friends for years and since they both come from abusive backgrounds they moved in together and are working a year before starting college in order to save money.

The Love Story: The wolf shifter pack made an agreement with the town that in order to protect them, once a year they come and all the girls of a certain age are offered to the pack. Though they have not taken an offering in over 100 years. This year, both Gracie and Lizzie are taken.



I liked the fact that the Girls didn’t have any clue what the offering is about. So they don’t know if the wolves will use them as slaves, eat them, or if the shifters have some other nefarious purpose for taking them. The whole unknown aspect of the story drew me in.

I genuinely liked all the characters. Gracie was strong yet still afraid and even more afraid for her friend Lizzie. I also liked Lizzie who had her own story and issues, she was broken and terrified. The guys were dominant but extremely nice guys, so that was a plus. The book is quite hot and steamy, just the way I like and I also for some reason love it when normal girls are thrown into supernatural situations. I guess because I can imagine how they should act. Gracie was the perfect character for that. I wish the book was longer, but am exited to read more of this series!

Due to the town’s peace treaty, the town gets protection from vampires, witches & other shifters every year Shadow Falls prepares an offering. All women between 19-21 have to participate. It is all part of the town’s treaty with the shifters. This will be Grace & Lizzie’s first year

Grace is chosen by the Alpha, while Lizie is chosen not by one, but by two betas. Caleb & Dom, are both her mates

There are so many difference things that I enjoy about this read, but here are A few things that I really enjoyed the most about this Read is the fact that we have a touch of everything between the fact of we have alpha male another male that has a dark side to him another male that has passionate side to him

You’ll also find that one female that has a strong will to her and another one that is a deep-rooted secret


I’ll leave you with that, but I’ll tell you this, I truly enjoyed this book, I liked the idea of this new world & the characters that W Winter has created… of course I love pure thought of being introduced to vampires, witches & other shifters in future books. …………….. ⬇ With that said ⬇

I love the idea of mate in a werewolf book but this book reminds me of the time I’m reading Wattpad-Werewolf books. And even so, I have found some amazing writers in that community and somehow a better werewolf book there compared to this one. Wounded Kiss is just downright disappointing.

The one star was only for the excellent smut scenes is all.

Other than that, I find this book to be a bit sexist and misogynistic. I know the lycanthrope world could be a mix of both of that; yes, if you really stick to the typical werewolf world but I’ve come across books with a more empowering story for the female character. What’s the excuse for this one?

The Alpha wants his mate to be his equal but requires her to be obedient in front of the pack and not defy him because this might jeopardize his status as an Alpha? Like I’m just gonna put some equality shit just so it won’t look bad. Meh, nice try.

On top of that, the world-building is a lacklustre too. They’re cramping everyone stories in one and were just focusing on the idea of mate, some steamy scenes and pretty much wrapped it. I get what kind of vibe this book wants to offer. I don’t expect it to be so thorough but this book is just not my cup of tea.

First kidnapping but we're ignoring that one bc it's too minor in comparison to all the other crap
Complete disregard of any body autonomy and forceful sex without consent for girl number one
And girl number two gets... Let's see
Years of horrible physical abuse and possibly sexual abuse i dropped it before i found out

And THEN the son of her biggest abuser AS A CHILD is made to be her mate with another guy and they tie her up and MAKE HER ORGASM wow how cute and romantic except she didn't want any of it was shaking and crying and begging to be let go and then the son of the abuser goes wohoo you know how we're gonna fix RAPE IS THE ANSWER

She's literally crying and begging to be let go and the fucker number two is fantasizing about hurting her during sex helloooooo the girl who's been abused are you fucking kidding me and he's all like i know I'm sick for thinking it bla bla bla yeah fuck off
This thing is going to have sequels and I'm supposed to believe they're going to be true love sole mates bull fucking shit

Loved this Werewolf romance!!!! Hot damn it was so good!!! Once a year in Shadow falls young women between the ages of 19 and 21 have to walk across a stage so that the werewolves protecting their town from blood thirsty vampires can look for offerings and this year both Lizzie and Grace are just two of the lucky girls that must attend. No one really knows what they look like because they wear long robes with hoods but looking at the size of them have the girls nervous so when one of them grabs grace and two others grab lizzie all hell breaks lose! What grace doesn't know is her capture is Devin the Alpha of his pack and he has stalked her for over a year waiting for this day and she will become his mate! Grace is scared shitless but when Devin wraps her up in his arms its like she's meant to be their. Unfortunately Caleb and Dom aren't having a easy time with Lizzie she's fighting like a wildcat to get away! This was a fabulous werewolf romance and it wasn't just grace and devin's story it was lizzie and her two mates as well. I loved grace!!! She's a firecracker and she doesn't make it easy for devin! Her body might want and need Devin but when he tries to make her submit to him it gets him clocked in front of his pack! Devin is big and handsome and he tries to coax grace into excepting that she's his but when she tries to get away after they have sex he's hurt! This isn't suppose to happen to bonded mates! Yes she's a alpha female and he doesn't want her to fear him or to break her spirt but she will be his and show submission in front of his pack or he will be seen as to weak to lead. And Lizzie isn't having a easier time either. No matter what Caleb and Dom do she keeps fighting even after being tied down but when her mates start bringing her body to life with touch's and telling her how much they both love and need her it isn't long before they both rock her world. I loved this book the chemistry between both couple is hot! and can't wait to read the rest in this series!! Willow winters has my attention with awesome characters and a great storyline. So if you like sexy dominant werewolves give this a try I know I'm hooked! Until next Luv's💕💋

Although the writing was pretty good, the realization of the plot was not as dilligently done as I kind of expected it.

The storyline(s) was intriguing but the fact that there were two of them intertwined into one following two female characters and their unexpected destiny fulfillment, as they are being "offered" to the wolf-shifters who, in return, protect their community and the realization that they are also mates wasn't quite delivered as profoundly as it should have been.

It was all too fast, too soon and too trivial and I minded that fact a lot!

there was no real characterisation, no deeper portrayal of any character, it was just pushing the fact in our face and that's that, the rest was supposed to be the sexy times and intimacy?!

There was no intimacy on the emotional level, at least I didn't feel any, it was lust and smut, yes but that all...and for the huge pending idea that's intertwind through out the story, really just hangs out in the open, it never went any deep.

It diminished the essence of the whole story, and considering that this is supposed to be only the first book in the upcoming saga, it should have had more depth than it offered.

but that's just my opinion.

Very disappointing.

Werewolf romance is something I like to read, so I was giddy to get started with this book.
But... All that excitement had a very quick and very thorough death.

The story was very promising from the blurb and at the beginning, it was a bit dark, a bit mysterious, and it did well at getting my attention. The personalities of the h and her best friend (I already forgot their names, oopsie) were slightly confusing (at first I thought the h was the ‘shy’ and ‘weak’ one because of how she was portrayed, and her best friend was the ‘over-the-top’ one) as they did a complete 180 in the space of a short chapter, but I pegged that down to being my own fault for assuming their character too early...

Well, after that it just went downhill. The H is introduced, and he bored me to death at how robotic he seemed. The h’s best friend was still getting a lot of spotlight, which was slightly worrying, which turned into an annoyed groan when it finally got into my head that they were going to show multiple couples in the same novel (something I hate. I only want to focus on ONE couple at a time, please!)

Everything felt rushed and like it couldn’t wait to get into the smut - every emotion seemed to be centered, mainly, around lust with no real deeper feelings or connections. And being a lover of smut, even I was worried at how emotionless I felt whilst reading the sex scenes. I definitely skipped the MFM as well.

*sigh* In conclusion, I think it could have been an interesting story, if only it was executed a bit better, fleshed out more on emotions and made the story longer to really immerse us in.

This was my first WW book, and man am i reeled all the way in!! This was exactly the paranormal, shifting goodness I needed. The story follows two best friends, Grace and Lizzie, who are selected as mates by these sexy werewolf shifters.

Grace is Alpha in spirit and tries to resist the internal need that she has to submit to Devin her ultimate Alpha, and leader of the pack. They. Are. Fire.


Lizzie, on the other hand, has a more complicated situation as she has two mates, and is fighting for her life due to the horrific trauma that she endured in her past from some horrible wolves. Lizzie has a secret, and I must say that I didn’t see it coming.

I can’t wait to continue on in this series. It really hit the Darktober spot!!

Don't remember most of the plot of this story.
But something to do with claiming humans or partners for the wolves' pack as they would all go insane if not. Outside forces trying to intervene and set foot on where they are, because that's how rivals work. Said partners being uncomfortable because life as they know it as has changed completely. MMF happening somewhere. Tragic backstories falling from the sky like no tomorrow.
Romance is nonexistent almost. Steam is everywhere. Banter is full-on.

This book is horrible, how can anyone read this and enjoy it? How does it have so many positive ratings? It is all sexual assault and rape and talk of “conditioning” proper responses. The whole thing is absolutely disgusting.

The opening chapter had a little promise, Grace and Lizzie are friends who love each other and watch each other’s backs. This book could have been good. But no. The males just take the females back to their compound and immediately fuck them without the female’s consent because “you’re mine”. No explanations, no relationship building, no comfort, nothing.

Grace literally says no then suddenly is in heat and gets turned on then hates herself for “having sex” with a stranger who just kidnapped her. He hasn’t even used the mate excuse yet. Devon acts like a total ass, says he feels guilty for using his alpha power to make her submit, says he wants her to be herself - but only in private. Around the pack or in public she is to be a meek little mouse who bows to his every whim because he knows best and any defiance or disrespect on her part indicates he is a weak Alpha. He thinks about how an alpha rejected by his mate gets removed from the position but instead of trying to romance Grace he rapes her and demands her submission.

Caleb was even happy his stolen mate was secretly a shifter because that meant he could be violent with her during sex because she would heal. Lizzie is traumatized from being abused as a kid by Dom’s father so she is terrified and trying to get away from them. Caleb and Dom decide the best way to handle this is to tie her to the bed spread eagle and assault her to “recondition her”. THEIR. WORDS.

This one was… disappointing. I expected so much more.

Someone else said this in her reviews and I completely agree with her: this book looked like it was a 2015 wattpad werewolf fanfic.

The plot was something interesting. Every year the city has to present all of the woman between 19 en 21 to the wolves, and they can choose and take them home if they want.

The problem with this book is that only if the author had put more effort into the details and storyline, it would’ve been so much better already! I was looking forward to getting into the details of Lizzie and her previous pack, and the other packs that are out there. And what happened with Devin and his dad and other pack? None of those questions got answered. It’s just unfinished business with a lot of smut.

The storyline of Lizzie wasn’t developed, which I was very sad to see. She deserves something better. Her traumas aren’t resolved and she’s scared as hell, but she did get nailed by two werewolves! Yay! 😐

It contained a lot of misogyny which had me raging. The word ‘obey’ was used too much.

Probably not reading the second book, because this was just sad. :(

Ohhhhh how I have missed my favourite genre that started my love for reading . This book captivated me from the very start. You know when you start that itch you keep on scratching, well that’s how I felt reading this.

Devin and Grace are fire... they are a force of lust and need. And when you mix in my favourite shifters and Alphas you know your in for a hot ride.

Need more in this series. Well done Willow!!!

When do I ever rate a paranormal / fantasy - let alone a spice book 5 stars? Never. This shit was flawless. Literally 5/5. The spice, the chemistry, the plot. The only downfall is that it was so short. I need 300 pages more and I need a full, full series and I’m getting one but I’m impatient. Read this spicy book besties- it’s so good it even got an individual review on my tiktok and you know that never happens.

This was such a quick and easy read.

I loved Grace, Lizzie, and their mates. I’m usually super drawn to the MC, who overall seems to be Grace but after reading Lizzie’s backstory I just wanted to give her the world. I loved that she had two mates to take care of her but I really loved the the idea of her being a werewolf too.

Grace and Devin’s connection seems to happen very quickly which I thought was super cute and a great parallel to Lizzie and her mates.

I will admit, I was feeling a little wary when Dom pulled out the rope. But everything worked out and my rising anxiety was quickly calmed when it was clear Lizzie was okay with what was happening.

As much as I loved the couples and the sexy scenes, I really wish I could have seen Grace and Lizzie reconnect as best friends in this new life after they accepted their mates. Throughout the book it is very clear they are very dependent on one another, so a mutual meet up at then end would have been the icing on the cake for me.

Overall, this is a quick easy read that I would recommend to anyone who has a things for mates.

A completely new genre for her, and Ms. Winters dealt with it like the champ and genius author she is.

I loved this story so, so much. The protagonists are multi-layered personalities, described profoundly in every respect, and so detailed and tangible that I could see them in front of me and relate to them at any time.
I loved the emotional ups and downs, the back and forth of the plot, even if it felt torturous at times, as the emotions seemed to emanate from the pages of this book ...
Gaaah ... I can't seem to find the right words to describe how much I was impressed by the depth and emotionality of this story.

I can't wait to read more from this series, to learn more about these protagonists, and the wait will be a pure agony!
