WOW!!!! LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!
I started reading and couldn’t put it down! The story just flowed so nicely. I was invested in the characters. I wanted to know what happened next. Roxanna did a great job of writing so that she caught you up in the story and kept you hanging. And WOW the ending! I was not expecting that at all! I can’t wait for the next book to come out!

This is a very, very slow burn book. It did take me a while to finish this book because it was a slow pace read. For me it didn’t pick up and didn’t get into the paranormal until 95% in. I wish there was a bit more of paranormal throughout the book. It’s also a “closed door” romance between the characters.

I did enjoy reading about Jacey and the pack she made with her sister and roommate. Honestly, I didn’t see the plot twist coming at all, which in itself was good IMO. I wanted to read more about the paranormal aspect but this book does leave on a cliffhanger. I do want to read the second book to find out what happens between Jacey and Leon.

The book was ok but the "twist" was so glaringly obvious throughout the entire book. There were times where the main character was so short sighted she was annoying. But with all that being said I did enjoy the quick read.

This is my first read for this author! I have an arc for book #2 in this series. This book starts off with infidelity. Our FMC, Jacey, arrives home after having her designed showcased, to find her fiancé in bed…. With her secretary…. (Not a spoiler because that’s all in the first chapter)!

She quickly calls upon her best friend, and previous roommate, Leon. Leon shows up in a matter of minutes and is ready to come to blows with the cheater but Jacey talks him down and just wants to leave. Jacey moves back in with Leon, who is more than excited to have her back. Over the next few weeks-months Jacey tried to heal from the betrayal and upheaval of her life. Through a bet, Leon and Jacey’s twin sister, convince Jacey to say “yes” to the next 5 men who ask her out. This is a way to break her out of her slump, boost her confidence and, the only reason she cares for, to win her downstairs master bedroom back from Leon.

The book goes through each guy who asks her out. How they meet, what they do for a living, the actual dates and so fourth. Inevitably, each ones relationship fizzles off into nothing. But after each relationship experience… she gains perspective and insight into herself.

She ends up taking Leon as her plus 1 to her sisters wedding. She surprised him with a trip to Portugal, where he is originally from. Leon is upset at this gesture, but quickly brushes it off and gets excited to see us mother and have her meet Jacey. Let’s just say… things get weird early one morning….

Yes, I’m being vague, as to not spoil anything! Shifted does end on a cliffhanger… not a ginormous one though! But a cliffhanger nonetheless!

As long as you are okay with a slow burn/slow paced (it does speed up once you’re about halfway in) book… this one is for you!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Now I am off to arc Shattered!!!! Wish me luck!!!!

This book! I just need a few minutes after that ending. I'll be fine, I just...Whoa (in a really good way).

First off this did not feel like a 500 plus page book. It was smooth and flowy. I want more! Jacey is now my bff.

If you haven't read a paranormal romance before. I highly recommend this book. If you appreciate a closed door romance with great tension this is for you. I cannot wait for book two.

PS. I highly recommend the playlist.

I really enjoyed this light read especially at the end of a long year. I thought knew where things were going to go but once I got to the end I was not expecting the turn it took and was pleasantly surprised.

I received this book from the author to get myself caught up while anticipating the arrival of my ARC copy of book 2. Boy an I glad o took the time to read this! You certainly need to read book 1 to understand book 2. I couldn't put this book down. I found myself relating to some aspects of the story. Once the paranormal aspect is addressed, all of the bread crumbs from earlier in the book fall into place. I honestly didn't see the cliffhanger coming!

Okay, first things first, I need book 2 now. I don't want to wait.
Second thing, I need to know what happens next...does Jacey choose Gabe or Leon? What is going to happen between the three of them? How is she going to choose? Or will she have a relationship will both of them? So many questions!

And third, I loved reading this book! Even though Jayce's relationships were/are so, back and forth? Confusing? Gave me whiplash? All three? 😅 Besides that, I really liked this story and I wait patiently impatient for "Shattered"!

This book has stolen my heart, it is easily one of the top 3 books I’ve read this year. I was sent the copy as j signed up to be apart of the ARC team for the second book in the series and god do I feel like it was fate I got to read it. The story was such a gold slow burn and normally I’m not a fan of slow burns but this book was so different from any others I’ve read and I loved where the story turned. Without reading the blurb I would never have seen the paranormal twist coming. It was FANTASTIC and I can not wait to read the next one. I’ll be ordering a paper copy because I NEED this book to add to my personal library.

I went into this book under the impression that it is a paranormal romance. It is, but that does not come into the story until 95%. After that ending, I can't wait for book 2 and see how it all plays out, but this book is slow burn, fade to black, and the plot is also very slow moving. There were times I thought to DNF. I'm glad I stuck with it for that ending, but it was a slow ride.

I really enjoyed this read. I liked that the main character was exploring different relationships and that the men she dates aren't cookie cutter but seem to have dimension as well. I could see the twist coming from the beginning but the authors unique world building still made it interesting and unique. I do jeed to warn that it isn't stand alone and you will be left hanging for the next book. Usually this turns me off but in this case I will be tryin to get me hands on the next one.
NB. I was provided a free copy of this book via Voracious Readers in exchange for an honest review

What. In. The. World. Did. I. Just. Read!? 😱

I have been known to not read what a book is about before I pick it up. So that is what I did with this one. The first 90% of this book seemed normal. Romance that kept me interested enough but not entirely something I hadn’t read before. But the last 10%?? 🤯 I had to legitimately put down the book and wrap my head around what I was reading. I don’t know where I was expecting the story to go but this was not it 😂

I really really enjoyed this book. So much that I am gonna hop straight into the sequel because I NEED to know what happens like, yesterday.

Okay so I'll start by saying woah. That ending!

Thank you so much to Roxanna Mason for choosing be to be an ARC reader!

Now, I'm a huge mood reader and that's why it took me a while to get through this. I'm not usually one for slow burn and fade to black, but something about the story just kept me going. I will say I predicted a lot of the twists, especially when we learned how the paranormal aspect tied into the story. I also wish there was more paranormal so that's why it's 4 not 5 stars. Either way I'm stoked to start book 2!

Shifted has shifted my insides

Oh where do I begin? Firstly I will say the 2star rating is solely because I considered DNFing this book several times. I didn’t because I was so confused and needed to find what the book was promising me…so I kept reading. Even though my brain and emotions were all over the place.

You could say that’s what makes a book great. And normally I’d agree. However, for what I was expecting this book to be and to receive that when I did is what bothers me.

This trip was wild. I’d like to say it was a good book. I read the whole thing. It had plot, I didn’t hate the characters and yet I feel cheated? I feel like I would have been better off not reading it.
But I feel obligated to read the next book when it comes out. So I guess you win, author. You did what you set out to do. Which is get people to read your books. So even if I didn’t like it and didn’t feel it was worth it to me, I am still invested enough that I need to know how it ends.

~~~~Spoilers~~~~
I read 47 whole chapters before anything “paranormal” happens. The last 3 chapters were the only times anything happened or was explained. And as soon as he mentioned it in chapter 49 I knew what he was gonna say in his reveal in chapter 50.
I’m mad that there is not a category for just paranormal or shifters because I was expecting werewolves. He is, in fact, not a werewolf.
I’m mad that it took 48 chapters to give me the main component of the whole plot of the story.
I’m mad that there was SO MUCH PLOT. Which seems like a good thing but I was also under the impression there would be sex scenes. And while they did sleep together it was hinted at and glossed over the way it would be for a YA book. And if that’s was the case, I would have also liked to have know that sooner.
I hated that even though I felt it coming at me like a freight train, I knew it was going to be the classic cliche of “I’m your best friend and we have been in love with each other the whole time.”
Overall I felt like I was being gaslight and losing my mind. Everything was simultaneously moving too fast and not fast enough.
The rate at which men kept appearing and disappearing was giving me whiplash.
They were all so drastically different and some way worse than others.
He shapeshifts. Into other people. He pretended to be other people to make her love whatever version of him he could make up for her to love if it wasn’t going to be the real him. If that was the case…why did he pull the ghosting act with two of them? Why was one insulting her career if he knew how much it meant to her? Why was the last one kind of scary like he could be violent and also seemed like he had to be drunk and party all the time only to get angry at her and start arguments? What version of home was that suppose to be?? The rate at which all these personalities shifted from one to the other was insane. And yet she was into each one for whatever reasons they had to be that person.
I felt their jobs had no real necessity for the story. I don’t really care that she was a men’s fashion designer or that he was an art director. Like you can give them the job title and not make me have to go to work with them. Because even when that happened it eventually blurred out and was bypassed over to get to the next day or week for time jumps. And that was fine with me because it made no difference either way.
I don’t care that her favorite band was Metallica or that she wakes up at 5am and goes to the gym.
You know when you read a story sometimes and the characters around them feel like filler? They blend into the background in a way that it’s only for the fact of dialogue and context they are needed? That’s how I felt for her business partner, her TWIN sister, and assistant Danny. They didn’t feel important. They might as well have been background characters for filling. I didn’t need to know the things about them that I know. I didn’t need glimpses into their lives or personalities when it meant so little. I capitalized twin because why was that important? It wasn’t. She could have had an older sister, a younger sister, or an adopted sister. It would have had the same effect. Being a twin was in no way special for the story.
Some things I just believed could have been left out or cut to make the story shorter and gotten to the point faster.
So I signed up to be on the ARC team for book two having at that point not read book one. I am not a fan of either the first or the second book. It starts with very classic tropes. Trope 1: Our FMC gets engaged to a nerd who makes a ton of money after creating a videogame. Said fiancé cheats on our FMC with her friend and assistant. Trope 2: Her male BFF comes to her rescue and she moves back in with him. Trope 3: He has been in love with her for years and decides now is his chance to make a move. Trope 4: After 4 months of letting her wallow in self pity over the cheating he makes a bet with her. She is to take the next 5 dates offered to her as long as she feels she is going to be safe with the person to help her move on. Trope 5: Our MMC is keeping a secret. Up until now these tropes I hade zero issue with. They're classic for a reason, while they not be my favorite I am still here for it. My issues are the manipulation and gaslighting done by our MMC to win over the FMC. While I like these things and can excuse them in like dark romance or a wolf shifter sort of situation I do not believe they had a place here in an otherwise Hallmark romance. Warning spoilers ahead...
The MMC is a shifter, but instead of changing into something like an animal or some sort of fantasy anything. He can shift his form so that he looks like another male. So this man corners her into a bet about taking the next 5 dates she is offered after hearing a list of all the things she wants from her perfect match while she was talking with her sister and then dates her as different people to be that perfect person. As each version of him dates her, he talks to her about each male as a supposed BBF would to gain insight. Then he changes himself to fit that image she is wanting. I feel like this is incredibly manipulative, and his way of arguing with her about it at the end is full of gas and red flags. He uses the personas to find out more about her feelings about his "true" persona. Of the five dates she does by chance end up meeting a man who is not our MMC that she started to have feelings for. He is like our side plot twist. He comes into the second book with us as well. When our MMC finds out about the interloper he becomes aggressive and while that's not something I take issue with in dark romance I had issue with it here because he was being so manipulative of her. They do eventually get together and sleep together (BTW the sex is not spicy its very glossed over fade to black Hallmark movie stuff). They do this though before he comes clean about what he is and what he has been doing. After she falls in love with him and she tells him that she accepts the shifting she asks him if he ever used it on her he begins to answer her and she cuts him off. Telling him she doesn't want to know. She tells him that no good will come from her knowing his answer. He lets it go until his guilt catches up with him and he forces her to listen to him tell her about what he did. To absolutely no ones surprise his reveal does not go as he hoped. When she askes him about what would have happened if she had wanted to settle down with one of the personas he tells her he would have resigned himself to being that person for the rest of his life to be with her. Our first book ends with the FMC leaving the MMC and running off to Gabe the one real person she met while she was going on the initial five dates.
I will be absolutely honest and say that I deeply loved everything about Shifted. It was so suspenseful and adventurous that I was on edge the entire time I was reading. I didn’t want to put it down, but I had to several times in order for me to going about my daily life of work and getting over the flu!!
I was blown away by the depth of Shifted, and how you never knew what was going to happen next. The suspense of it just held you in a death grip!
Shifted was a long book, and I am absolutely okay with it, because it never failed you; it never left you high and dry. Each page was a literal page turner as new things developed and new adventures awaited. Love and desire awaited.
And shifted is a literal shift in reality to your brain!! Each chapter is a pleasant scritch to the brain!! Up, down, left right, past, present, future. It’s all up for grabs while reading, your heart never knowing where to settle and who to love; except one or two!!
Shifted is a book about a successful woman, Jacey, who fought to have the career she wanted, and who struggles to find the one person she wants to love for the rest of her life after having her heart ripped out of her chest and stepped on by the man she wanted to share the rest of her life with. Shifted is also a book about a successful man, Leon, who is always there to pick up the one person in the universe that he never wants to hurt, and always wants to protect.
But shifted will leave you anxiously screeching for more at the end, so be prepared for your heart beating out of its chest as you sit down, strap in, and get ready for the unexpected and exciting rollercoaster called Shifted!!
I am patiently, but anxiously, waiting for the next book to continue this beautiful, haunting, mind-bending, adventurous story!!!
I highly, HIGHLY suggest giving this book a read!!! Let it consume your mind in all aspects!!
*****There are some very very minor spoiler alerts in this review. Nothing that gives away significant details, but if you don't want any hint at all about anything that happens, only read the first paragraph of this review.
I highly recommend giving this a read. I had a pretty good idea of how the book was going to end from the beginning, however I was pleasantly surprised in some ways as well. The ending has me desperately awaiting the second book in the series to find out what Jacey does next.
I read the blurb of the book right before I started reading it, and I could immediately tell what the ending was going to be. I was still fully invested in the story and what was going to happen. The plot was quite interesting. Dialogue felt real, scenes were described well. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I had to finish it so that I could find out if I was right in guessing the plot twist. I read the entire second half of the book in one night because I just had to know what was going to happen.
Jacey spiraling and losing herself for awhile also felt real after what she had been through with Brian. She was really going through it and she fully leaned into the bet she made with Leon, her best friend, and Elise, her sister. I sort of felt like she was taking the bet a little too serious at some points, but I was still invested in her story.
Honestly, the only thing I wish was different is that there were more paranormal aspects aside from the last few pages. I don't know how it could have been worked in, but for this to be called a paranormal romance, I was expecting just a touch more of the paranormal. This book was still amazing though, and I absolutely cannot wait for the second book.
I went into Shifted apprehensively but intrigued after watching a social media video from the author explains her debut novel. She described it a little bit like marrying 2 genres she likes, horror and romance. And while the idea of "shifting" into another form is part of the premise, it's not in the way we typically see in the genre. Here the idea is that there is someone so into the main character, Jacey, that they will literally try to be that perfect person for her. That sounds more stalkery and scary than romantic, so I wanted to see how this would end up reading. Would it be an epic love story for the romance genre, or would it end up falling more into a tale of horror?
The books reads like a contemporary romance. Jacye is struggling after a devasting end to a long-term relationship. She is tasked by the 2 people closest to her to just say yes to the next 5 potentials that cross her path. That in this day and age is daunting for most singles. Dating apps are awful and meeting organically is unheard of and usually left for true crime podcasts. But she agrees to the challenge in only to get out of her funk. All the reveals are left for the later portion of the book and there are some twists you might not see coming. Even knowing these potential dates are all the same person, there isn't a hint of what's going on, just a strong connection to these drastically different partners that wandered into her life.
Once I started I didn't want to put it down. I raced to find out the hows and whys and reveals. They did not disappoint. I am happy with they way things concluded and I cannot wait for the next installment.
Oh my God. I was not expecting that
I read this on a recent from a good friend of mine. I went in knowing it was a paranormal romance but that was about it as my friend didn't want to spoil anything accidently. I can not wait for book two as I have to know what happens after that cliff hanger ending.
This review may contain spoilers. Our FMC Jacey has just gotten back from a work trip and has found her Fiancee in a compromising position and her whole world is turned upside down. She moves back in with Her best Friend Leon. Very slowly after much pushing from her sister and Leon she starts dating again on a bet to get back the master bedroom.
Each of the first 3 men she dates are bringing some things to the label but she see their red flags quickly as they all start showing their flaws. Date number four is a young man named Gabe who she quickly feels something different with but she quickly meets Cash and is caught in his gravity.
Things come to a head after another failed date, after possibly too much wine she crawls into bed with Leon as she starts to realize she has feelings for him. This kicks off a relationship that's has been years in the making. Finally we are getting to her sisters wedding in France and she surprises him with a trip to Portugal to see his mother for the first time in years.
To say this trip Portugal and the trip home is crazy is an understatement. I feel for Jacey so much as I couldn't imagine being in this situation. Luckily for her she does have 1 door left to turn to. I can't wait to see what happens in book two Shattered.
This book is unlike any other book I have ever read before. I could not put it down wanting to find out what was going to happen next. I loved how every guy was able to show Jacey something about herself. She was able to be adventurous and daring with Owen, was able to have an intellectual sparring with August's brilliant mind. She was able to be carefree in a youthful way (if that makes sense lol) with Alex and then Gabe was said to have taken her to the best 3 dates she’s ever had in her life all in one day (Confession Gabe is my favorite out of all of them). And Cash was able to make her feel everything in the extreme whether it was good or bad.
Although I did have an inkling about some things, but I still liked discovering why everything happened.
I must admit that Jacey did annoy me a few times because she always seemed to instantly fall for each guy that it made me wonder if she was in love with the idea of love, but other than that I really enjoyed the book.
Leon and Jaceys friendship is the type I would like to have. I love how Jacey once says “I was the family he didn't have, and he was the protector I didn't know I needed.” Leon was always there for her when she needed him and never judged her, just like she was there for him in a different way, being the family he didn’t have and worrying about him.
I can’t wait to read the second book and find out what’s going to happen next!!
I recieved a copy of Shifted in anticipation of ARC reading the second book in the series. In no way was I expected to leave a review for this one, it was just so I would know what I was getting into. Nonetheless, I feel like I should share my thoughts about this book.
This book was a pageturner I was not prepared to get sucked into. I was doing this one as a buddy read with my friend and for once I managed to finish first. You might not know this but coming from me, that is a big deal.
Shifted follows Jacey Lange a fashion designer who just found out her fiancé cheated on her with her assistant. Everything comes crashing down, she moves back in with her college roommat Leon. Months go by and Jacey kinda becomes a shell of her former self. So what better way to get over a broken heart? Enter a bet made with your best friend/roommate Leon and your twinsister Elise stating that you would say yes to the first 5 guys who ask you out. Either find love again or if this fails, get back the master bedroom. What could possibly go wrong?
And that is how you get into this paranormal romance packed with great characters, including the ones you love to hate. (For me that is)
We have all the twists, turns and feels packed into an amazing read and don't get me started on that ending!
This book keeps me wanting more and I gladly sign up for whatever comes next.
Keep in mind that this book ends on a cliffhanger that will make you go feral for the next one to come out asap.
Honestly, you should've seen our textchain of our read together. It was chaoticly perfect in every way.
What can I say about this book that hasn't already been said. I went into this book blind, I saw a tiktok for a new paranormal romance author and was all in. When I got the book I started reading and didn't think the cover matched the story line, as the paranormal part is brought in at the end of the book. But the story is written in such a beautiful way, I wasn't bothered by it. It's of a woman who finds herself after being hurt and betrayed by the man she was planning to spend the rest of her life with. only to have it happen again by her best friend and true love. It goes through her life of Reentering the dating world.and all the complex things that happen with that. There's something about the simple way that the story is written that can easily suck you into it and still have you wanting more, but is satisfying. That being said, the ending of this book was both shocking and predictable. You almost see it coming but at the same time don't. I also think that this would have been an amazing novel without the paranormal factor. The story of her losing love and then realizing it was there all along is age old and timeless. But it will be interesting to see how it plays out in the next book now that Jacey knows the truth. I also look forward to finding out how the whole paranormal factor will be worked out it is an interesting combination for sure to have a human and the son of a witch and shifter fall in love. Can wait to start the next book.
Just a note: this is a rant about Jacey
Let me just start by saying, I really really don’t like Jacey! She has made me mad for the last time 😩 First she’s out here throwing herself at every man she meets and keeps making the same mistakes and choices. Then when she chooses Theo, she sees Gabe and all of a sudden it’s fate saying she should be with him. Then she makes Leon propose and promises that nothing can make her leave and keeps saying, I said yes already, I said yes. When Leon wanted to confess, she was very selfish when she wouldn’t let him tell her the truth but she should have known what he did when he told her about his abilities. The final thing she did was leave and run right to Gabe, who is going to end up hurt in the process from her antics.
I understand why Leon did what he did, it some ways it’s romantic but it was stupid. I understand why he didn’t tell her he liked her when they met, it was very sweet of him and testament to his character. When he told Jacey she was being annoying, I cheered for him because finally someone said it! But I felt for her when she said that she would have had to make himself disappear to become the man she was in love with.
Man I am so invested in this story and am only reading the next one to make sure that Leon gets his happy ending because as far as I’m concerned, Jacey doesn’t deserve one 😂
The book dives right into the drama and gets you invested. I had mixed feelings about Jacey, but I warmed up to her for the most part quickly. I loved her best friend, Leon right from the start. I appreciated how distinctive each of the characters were, so there was no mixing anyone up. I can’t talk too much about them due to the nature of the book or I risk spoilers.
There is some “other woman” drama, but at least it’s pretty short lived. There was heartbreak and confusion, partly because Jacey was fickle at times. I wish people would let themselves follow their hearts instead of self sabotaging their lives. I suppose that’s human nature though.
The plot kept me guessing as every time I came up with a theory, it was dashed shortly thereafter. It wasn’t until secrets were revealed that I decided on a theory that I had never even considered earlier. I’m definitely intrigued to read more after a cliff hanger ending and several unanswered questions.
Ultimately, this book kept me curious all the way through as I was pleasantly surprised to find I was led somewhere completely different than I was expecting.
This was such a great book, I am genuinely surprised!!! I expected it to be so predictable since it was a romance. It was soo obvious from the very beginning that Jacey should be with Leon, just like in every other romance story, the best friend turns into the ONE!!! But this story was different. I really enjoyed meeting all the different characters. I felt myself falling in love with every man Jacey dated, I felt soo connected to them through her. I honestly thought I was the one dating them. I loved all the girls in the book and how well they all connected, and I even loved the new assistant Danny cuz he was soo good to Jacey. The ending threw me for a complete loop. I had no idea what was going to happen and how things turned out to be a complete shock.
I highly recommend this book to everyone regardless of your usual genre of choice. This is such a fun, light-hearted, easy read. It's sexy, sophisticated, empowering, and fun with plenty of shocking and relatable moments that everyone can enjoy!
I really look forward to reading book 2 and seeing where this journey will take us next!!!
This was my first Paranormal romance book. Having said that I didn’t know what to expect from the book as I was unfamiliar with what a Paranormal romance was. I received the book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
While reading the book the whole time I kept wondering what is paranormal about this? I did feel something off but couldn’t put my finger on it. When the paranormal aspect was revealed I was like wait a minute, what just happened? It left me hanging and wanting so much more.
The story is Jacey who is a fashion designer for menswear who has everything going for her. She is newly engaged when she finds her fiancée in bed with her assistant. She then moves back in with her best friend Leon.
After watching her mope for months, Leon and her sister Elise come up with a plan to kickstart Jacey into dating again. If she says yes to the next 5 dates no matter what she can win back her master bedroom.
As Jacey starts dating she finds something familiar about each one. When she finds out what that is her whole life has her questioning everything.
I cannot wait for book two to continue the story. I loved it and definitely a fan of paranormal romance.
Well, this was a little shocker!
Jayce is just trying to find her way after the betrayal of her fiancee with her assistant
An up and coming men’s fashion designer - life as she knew it gets turned up side down, luckily she has her male best friend Leon, and twin sister Elise for support -
When they both decide Jayce needs to get back in the dating game and devise a plan for Jayce to say yes to the next 5 guys that ask her out!
Well, things happen very quickly and a little bit suspiciously, but Jayce just carries on intent on finding the love she’s looking for - even if each of the guys seem to represent that - at least at 1st
When inevitably, Jayce finally realizes that her long time best friend and her rock has been in love with her since the night he rescued her - things heat up between them pretty quickly, but what is Leon hiding?
A surprise trip to his home town in Portugal will reveal all and life will be Shifted!!
I was not expecting that twist - it threw me for a loop - and I’ve already dug into book 2 “shattered” to see where else this crazy tale leads us!
Highly recommend
This is the first book in The Shifted Series, which is paranormal shifter romance about a woman, Jacey, who breaks up with her fiancee, moves back in with her (male) best friend and accepts a deal to go on dates with the five five guys that ask her out. This is a closed-door romance.
This was described to me as a “contemporary paranormal romance” but there is nothing about it to indicate it’s paranormal until about the 95% mark. And while I do expect book two to be more paranormal, it should be noted book one reads much more like contemporary romance (which I don’t read) than paranormal.
I liked the plot concept - kind of fun to accept the deal and see her follow through on it. But, there’s a lot of dating and discussing romances, etc., which is what makes it feel more like a contemporary romance book.
Rating: 3/5 Stars 1/5 Flames
Recommendation: I will definitely start book two here next, and continue it if it focuses more on the paranormal aspect of the story. I would only recommend this book though if you also like contemporary romances about dating, in addition to paranormal romance, or I think you might get frustrated.
