Gisbert Haefs is a German writer in several genres and translator. He has written historical novels such as Alexander won both the Deutscher Science Fiction Preis and Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis in science fiction and placed at the Deutscher Krimi Preis for crime fiction. As a translator he worked on a much criticized effort at translating works of Jorge Luis Borges into German.

Skurriler Krimi, z.T. etwas anstrengend, aber auch sehr unterhaltsam!

I hate to close out 2020 with a ho-hum book. I only read this one because of the title. What did a raven have to do with the story? An amateur detective tries to prove a man innocent of a double murder and the accused has a pet raven, named Poe. The story went on much too long and was boring for most of it except the typical beginning couple of chapters and the exciting ending, in which Poe plays an important part.

Frau verläßt Mann, Andreas Goldberg, und geht zu einem Juristen. Dafür werden beide zurecht erschossen. Mann ist unschuldig. So weit so sehr gut, aber der Rest ist doch arg langatmig und die Aufklärung des Falles völlig uninteressant. Der Detektiv, Baltasar Matzbach ist zwar originell, trägt den Roman aber längst nicht. 5/10
