A “way” can mean a literal path, a prescribed route, or metaphorically-a course of conduct or a manner of thinking. We each have a particular way we do things and live our lives. The Bible tells us that God also has his ways. Knowing his ways provides insight into who he is and what he desires. If we are to know him, we must know his ways. However, Scripture tells us that God's ways are "higher than our ways and His thoughts than our thoughts." The Apostle Paul expresses the sovereignty and magnitude of God's ways, "Oh the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out" (Romans 11:33). This seems almost contradictory. How can we know God’s ways if they are beyond our ability to understand? However, a closer look at Scripture will reveal that, although a considerable amount of God’s ways are beyond comprehension and for now will remain a mystery, there is much we can know about the ways of God. It is a journey of discovery that must be made with humility and awe. In this unit of HighQuest , we will look at ten specific ways of God. These “ways” are taught and demonstrated repeatedly throughout Scripture. We hope that as you explore them, you will find not only instruction for living but a deeper understanding of the One who is The Way.
