Tonight I had watched in horror the degradation of human beings.

Emily might have watched the degradation of humans. Tonight, I watched in horror the degradation of the written word. Mild spoilers ahead. Read at your own peril.

Strike 1 : The male lead is in a rock band and is also an underground fighter - NAMED SCULPT.

What? He's not also in a Motorcycle Club? If we're going to milk a bunch of trends in multiples, let's not leave anything out.

Strike 2 : The male lead calls his woman Pigeon errr Kitten errr Mouse.

I sense a pattern with the trending/imitation. At least he didn't call her baby over and over...oh wait. He did.

Strike 3 : The lack of a mom as a role model does not excuse this type of thinking :
"I never took you against your will. Ever."
He was right, he never did. Even when he fucked me in the dining hall he'd asked me.

Emily was put into the situation of forced slavery because Sculpt/Logan kidnapped her and forced her to be there. Even if she'd agreed to have public sex to keep herself alive, she was still FORCED to do so by being put into the situation against her will.

I went to slap him again, but this time he caught my wrist.
"Once, I'll take. Not twice."

The...fuck? Two years later, Emily is still terrified from what Logan did to her and allowed to have done to her. He deserved to have his ass beat over and over, and he should've taken it like a man if he wanted her forgiveness. A real alpha male would humble himself and accept a second slap in exchange for the emotional, sexual, and physical abuse which had been done because of him.

"You owe him-"

No, Emily doesn't owe Logan shit. Even if he had risked his life ten times over to save her - if she doesn't want to talk to him ever again, she SHOULDN'T HAVE TO. Why do none of the characters in this book seem to get that? Even her own friends never validated her experience.

I had no right to hate him, and I had.

Sigh. She just...doesn't...get...it.

All sweet was out; hot and scary with a teaspoon of sweet was in.

This type of thinking bugs the hell out of me. Why, you ask? Because in this book, scary actually means scary. Even though I like my "dangerous" heroes (any man who can and will defend his woman is a huge turn-on for me), can we get out of the damn mindset that sweet is somehow "lesser?" I didn't expect a nice guy in this book because of the content, but can we quit romanticizing crap behavior, and instead praise the beta males, the nice males, and the non-asshole alphas? Oh wait, to praise them would mean we'd have to find them. The "non-jerk guys are unicorns" rant will have to wait for another time.

Twenty Missed Calls.

Most people would consider anything more than a couple of calls excessive and creepy.

*** Three strikes and you're out, right?

Not quite...in this game, there were a couple of foul balls in-between those strikes.

Lack of editing : or why good indie authors cry when everyone else ruins it for them. I make typos constantly, use commas excessively, and fail at grammar (my own reviews make me cringe sometimes). So IF I'M NOTICING problems, we're talking about serious editing issues here.

His steal tone whispered in my ear. *What is he stealing?

My popsicle and I was melting into him further and further. *If your head is hurting, know that you are not alone.

I started to pull away and he groaned then his arm tightened around me. *Awkward sentence structure, this is. Yes, I Yoda'd that bitch.

...and if he gave it to me physically than I'd take it. *You'd take it instead of what?

I knelt on the floor my heat thumping erratically at his unexpected early appearance. *I spot two things that are off with this sentence. Do you?

"If you ever want to... Shit, Emily." *If you ever want to shit, Emily? Uh, ew.

He knew Emily. *Who knew Emily? I think when you're speaking to Emily about something that another person knew, you might mean : He knew, Emily.

(for the record, that is not my spelling of punctuation)

It's really too bad that a sliver of potential was wasted this badly...

The first 20% of this book was good. I'm not even kidding. Yeah, I'd read the reviews comparing Torn From You to Captive in the Dark, and I do agree that there was something about the writing style which read like a poor man's Captive. But I liked what I was reading - until the train went off the rails. While Captive certainly had some flaws, where it worked was in the interpretation of the male lead. Caleb in Captive was even more disturbed than Logan was, but the readers were not shoveled a bunch of bull about how he changed into a romantic lead further into the story. Logan didn't want to hurt Emily - okay, I get that he was forced - but the point is that he DID. So when the rest of the book took a turn into him being possessive instead of apologetic, it left a sour taste in my mouth. Leave that shit for the bedroom. Tie her up, tie her down, spank her ass, whatever. The second I saw that he wasn't on his knees begging over and over for forgiveness (or walking the hell away like a decent human being would do), he lost all credibility with me. Instead, I got to listen to Emily wax poetic about how her feelings for Logan were "soul gripping." We went from an interesting and twisted story to an obsessive and creepy love story.

I just realized that I need to wrap things up. Sorry for the abrupt "I'm done." This review is long enough. I am going to quit looking at my notes, or we'll be here another hour. I'll leave you with one last WTF? tidbit.

Sadly, the inner goddess has been replaced by children's toys. Emily has legos in her head. I still don't get that. Apparently, legos can be built and knocked down inside of her brain. Yes, it does appear as strange as it seems.

5 twisted and torn stars!
 photo 11374049-37c3-42b0-b404-85e29b10d8c0_zps4336a270.jpg

Torn from You picks up directly after the 0.5 novella With You leaves off. If you want Emily and Sculpt’s back story, I recommend reading that first.
Kidnapped.
Starved.
Beaten.
I was alone and fighting to survive.
When I heard Sculpt’s voice, I though he was there to save me.
I was wrong.

Emily thought she was falling in love with a man named Logan, who is know as Sculpt to everyone else. She’s happy, content and at a bar waiting to here Logan sing... Then, she is kidnapped. She hopes that Sculupt, or her best friends Matt and Kat will find her. Then she hears his voice. Logan. She has hope again. He’s found her. He’s come to save her. And in a few moments, that hope is destroyed.
“I’m scared.” Logan stared at me with eyes that were cold, dark and without a spark of... anything.
“You should be.”

“You need to fear me, not hate me."
I did. I feared him. But I think I hated him more. No, I knew I hated him more. For what he'd done. For what he was doing. For the betrayal. Most of all, for tarnishing something so beautiful and making it ugly. I trusted him. I gave myself to him, and he took me, peeled back layers of my soul until he saw it all. Then he took me.

The first half of this book was INTENSE! I didn’t know exactly what was going on or how to feel. Especially about Sculpt. I loved him, but there were things he would do or say that would just make me want to scream.

The second part of the story is so different from the first, it almost feels like you are reading a different book. It was intense too, but in an entirely different way.
“Some things can’t be repaired. You break them bad enough, they can’t be fixed.”

 photo 2b29d7e3-cd98-4194-81bb-099e1e8af771_zps91411886.jpg
“Please don’t ask me to let you go. I can’t do it. I’m not strong enough to do it again.”

Emily and Logan’s relationship is... complicated. Theres a lot I WANT to say about the last half, but I won’t say much because it would take away from your experience while reading. What I will say, is that your feelings about many of the characters will change in the last half. Questions will be answered, things will be revealed. There is still a little bit of crazy going on, but there is a lot of healing too.

 photo 32c1d397-c8ed-4009-b71c-72d1cb1c059f_zps94db1fb8.jpg
“You’re mine. You’ll always be mine.”

Now lets talk about the characters: Emily and Logan (aka Sculpt). Emily is such a strong heroine. No matter what she went through, she didn’t back down, didn’t give up or just lie down and take it. Even times it would have been smarter if she did. She fought. She survived. I loved her work with abused horses. Then there is Logan. Logan is misunderstood. He is a very complex hero (if you want to call him that). You won’t know wether to love him or hate him at times. When you get his back story, learn more about him and understand him, understand why he did the things he did, you can make your own judgements. I loved him. All the terrible things he did will be unforgivable to some, but I couldn’t help it. Even when he was doing the terrible things he did, I was rooting for him. Hoping that good sweet guy was there.

You will have all kinds of feelings while reading this story. I loved the combination of the dark, messed up and disturbing half, then you get the healing, love, and forgiveness. It had the crazy intense moments, the sweet moments, the sexy and steamy moments and a small touch of humor. The ending even had a twist I didn’t catch earlier on. There was a lot I loved about this book. The characters, the writing style, and the story itself. I’m very much looking forward to some of the secondary characters stories!

Wow.....this book had everything!!

I'm not even sure how to write this review because my thoughts are all over the place!!

Emily and Logan "Sculpt"

Emily she's feisty but reserved, a horse trainer, loyal friend and determined but ends up broken and fighting to come back.

Logan AKA Sculpt he's a tatted up hottie, underground fighter, lead singer in a band, secretive, sexy and ALL alpha! Delicious!!

First 50% of the book

DARK and CRAZY!!! My eyes were about to bug out of my head I wanted to kill everyone!!! Emily is kidnapped and taken into a sex slave industry where women are treated like scum and horrible acts are being performed all around her. She's been thrown in to another world and she's losing her mind!!! She wants her knight in shining armor to come and take her away. Wellllllll he shows up but does he save her?

That's kind of a gray area......you'll have to make your own decision on that one! He's part of this cruel disgusting world in ways you would never believe!! This book took twist and turns I never saw coming!! Half the time while reading my mouth was hanging open in disbelief!!!

Second half of the book

I have to be careful here not to give to much away but this second half was totally different than the first. It occurs 2 years later and Emily is still trying to put the pieces of her life back together. She's trying to heal and focus on her dream of training and saving abused horses.

Then HE walks back into her life..the HE of course would be Logan and he wants ONE thing for Emily to love him again. But that's easier said than done because she can't get over the past.

And this my friends is where the love story begins!! The second half of this book was soooooo CRAZY good!! I loved watching these two fabulous characters rebuilding themselves. It wasn't easy and I loved it more for that reason!

The Secondary Characters

Out of this WORLD fabulous!!!!! I loved them all sooooo much and I'm dying for all of them to have books of their own. Logan is in a band and his band members are all laugh OUT loud funny!! There is also Kat and Matt they are siblings and also Emily's pseudo family and her best friends. They are both fabulous and witty I loved them also. See where I'm going with this......EVERYTHING in this book is soooo good!!

Lastly the book I'm salivating for is Deck's book he's a commando in an Elite secretive military unit and he's the go to guy for everyone. He's mysterious and deadly...me likey!!!! I hope hope hope his book is with the mouthy Georgie....love that woman!!!!!!

Ok ok ok I know I have to stop gushing but I'm in LOVE with this book and ALL of these characters!!! I can't wait to read more from this author!!!!

5 fucktastic stars

ARC received on behalf of the author via Net Gallery.

Let’s just get the obvious out of the way. The blub. That fucking blurb, completely sold me. When I saw this was on Net Gallery I thought I would take a chance and hoped to find a great dark romance. I was sold just minutes into the book.

I am going to let the blurb speak for itself, since there are far too many things that occur during this book that needs to be discovered by the reader first hand.

This story read like two entwined stories. One story was the romantic and sweet story of Logan and his mouse, Eme. The second, was the dark twisted tale of a Master claiming his slave, this was Sculpt & Emily. These stories were woven together effortlessly.

Do you all remember that original Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup commercial? You know the one, where the chocolate & peanut butter collide and the result is fucking delicious?
Stay with me here…

This was as if CJ Roberts was the darkness of the chocolate and Kristen Ashley was the creaminess of the peanut butter. They collided and you suddenly have Nashoda Rose. Logan/Sculpt was dark and all kinds of alpha male. The brutal hero that holds his own tragic story. Emily was a survivor, she was broken – but she knew just how strong the glue was that held her together.

This was unexpected. The prologue starts off slow and romantic and you are abruptly taken from soft caresses to brutality. Suddenly the story shifts and carries you along for the ride.

With Logan you get not only a broken hero; you get an illegal fighter, a rock star, a dominant, dirty talker and alpha male. It’s like a reader’s wet dream.

This is a must read for those who like dark romances and even those who haven’t yet ventured into that genre yet, but can enjoy an edgy romance. The characters were wonderfully crafted, the secondary characters were absolutely perfect and makes me impatient for their stories to be told. The balance of this story was done perfectly, light & dark. And although some pieces fit into place for me before they were revealed, the story remained unpredictable.

★★★★★ 4.5 We're Only Broken When We're Apart stars!

Torn From You was one of those books that starts out with a bang. It's one of those books that manages to capture your attention from the very first page until the very last one, it manages to suck you in until you've reached the final line. The prologue itself was pretty romantic and sweet but then the story takes a complete turn. The first half of the story is quite dark, gritty and emotional and had a bit of a CITD-vibe. The second half was much tamer, but no less eventful and captivating. The author has done an incredible job at creating a unique story that constantly kept me on my toes and I enjoyed reading every second of it!

Emily's quiet and carefully constructed life suddenly takes a dark turn when she ends up kidnapped and tied up by a group of unpredictable and dangerous men. Then, when her boyfriend Sculpt suddenly shows up among the men, she thinks he's there to save her. But, she couldn't have been more wrong.

"I'm scared."
"You should be."

It makes no sense for him to be there. When she first met him a few months ago at an underground fight, he's the one who agreed to teach her how to fight after she was attacked by someone on the street. He's the one who thought her how to defend herself and how to hide her fear. Now, he's suddenly the one threatening her. She had no idea what his intentions are and how she's ever going to escape the impenetrable walls of the dark place where she's being held...

"You will fear me, Emily. And if you don't…I will make you."

Sculpt/Logan is one of those tortured, confused characters with a scarred past that you love to hate and hate to love. In the beginning of the story I pictured him to be the sexy as hell musician with a tattooed body and a heart of gold. Then, when he became one of Emily's captors I started to hate him for what he did. But, throughout the story he managed to win me over again with .

"What we had, we can't get back, Sculpt."
"We can, 'cause it never fuckin' left."

I feel like I really can't say much more about the storyline, because that would spoil your reading experience. You just have to read it for yourself and let it surprise you along the way. That's what the story did to me, it kept surprising me the entire time I was reading it and despite all the anguish and tension I felt while reading it, I ended up loving it! Aside from Logan and Emily, I also loved all the side characters. Especially Ream and Kat and I can't wait to read their story in the next part of the series! For those interested in whether or not there's a happy ending: .

5 FREAKING FANTASTIC STARS

"He made me feel that way. He made me feel protected and cared for, and it was because I trusted him."-Emily

Don't you love those books that sweep you off your feet and hold you captive until you finish? Torn from You is exactly that type of book. It belongs in its own genre of romance! This book has a perfect mixture of both a dark and twisted romance and a timeless love story all in one!

description

As the Prologue begins, we are immediately engrossed by the love and intensity shared by the main characters. Emily is a sweet, petite girl who is wrapped up in the strong arms of her fighter/rock star boyfriend Logan. Although the relationship is new, they obviously have fallen head over heals in love with each other. She met Logan (aka Sculpt) in an underground fighting ring. In the beginning, Emily and Logan are together loving and holding each other. Logan is trying to convince Emily to go on tour with him and the band.

"I loved how he looked at me and saw everything I am and could be. "-Emily

description

By the conclusion of the prologue, the reader is already engaged in what promises to be a sweet romance story.

And then everything changes. Emily is taken.

description

She is beaten. She is tortured. She is dying for Logan to rescue her. Imagine her surprise when Logan is there. However, he isn't there to rescue her.

"I wanted him to carry me away ... and then ... then I wanted to kill him."-Emily

What happens next is something you must discover on your own. What I can promise you is the ride is dirty, sexy, beautiful, passionate, violent, scary, and one that will stay with you for a long time. Emily is in fact rescued. However, the damage that has been done causes her grief like no person should ever endure.

“Some things can’t be repaired. You break them bad enough, they can’t be fixed.”-Emily

After her rescue, Emily has taken refuge living on a farm with her best friend. She is happliy working with horses. She has spent the entire past two years trying to forget Logan. When he shows up on the farm, Emily is broken all over again.

Logan hasn't stopped loving Emily. He has one goal- get his girl back!

description

"Three things crossed my mind. Run like hell. Beat on him, or leap into his arms and kiss him."-Emily

Logan wants Emily back in his life. He never stopped loving her. Emily is so confused. Why does she feel things for this man who has caused her so much pain?

Emily is so broken. She is drawn to Logan. Deep in her heart she loves Logan. However, Logan is the cause of years of heart break. How can she possibly let him back in?

“Let me repair this.”-Logan

description

Logan works hard to win back Emily's trust. They text. They talk. He takes her on a date. It is as if they are starting over. They get a second chance.

“Please don’t ask me to let you go. I can’t do it. I’m not strong enough to do it again.”-Logan

I highly recommend this read to anyone who enjoys some dark and grit in their romance. This story isn't easy to swallow or even understand. I read several reviews before I decided to read it. I can honestly say that I fell in love with both Logan and Emily. Emily is a strong heroine who has overcome great adversity. Additionally, the secondary characters add comic relief and texture to this already beautiful story. I found the writing to be fluid and very natural. This is one of those books that you don't want to end. I feel like I started it and when I looked up it was over. I think this story will stay with me for a long time. I understand that it is highly unlikely that this would ever happen in real life but hey that's why I love to read. I will certainly be reading more from this author. (That is after I have spent time re-reading my favorite parts of this book again!)

Re-read, October 4th, 2017.

Enough said...

When I go back to re-read a story for any reason at all, it's a story worth mentioning, well in my world at least!

Logan/Sculpt & Emily's story is a complex mosaic made of passion, resilience, patience, betrayal, sacrifice, love, hope & forgivness as crucial pieces...

Let me just say the multiple layers the male character here has...( and the mix of combination that could not have been more perfect for me – a lead singer and guitar player in a rock band, an underground fighter) all mysteriously intervowen in the story that is unlikely wrapped up into haze of make believe, then the veil is taken off and you are left with gripping, thrilling emotions that will keep you guessing, angry, stunned, only so you'd be shaken again with the remorse cruising through your veins as the truth unravels layer by layer, bit by bit...until you can get over the bittersweet taste of betrayal and exchange it with the deep sense of understanding for the sacrifice made and offer the forgivness of letting go.

Anyway, in the beginning of the story, we re-meet them both, Sculpt and Emily in somewhat different roles, than the sweet prologue provided - the position Emily finds herself in is not so good to say the least.

She's been kidnapped and prepared for the training as a sex slave somewhere in Mexico in a sex trafficing organization lead by Raul, the f*cktard who is actually tied to Sculpt in more than just businness affair.

So that first part of the book is sexually intense and somewhat dubious, with certain situations that are not pleasant or for the light-hearted... BUT the person who extracts those actions from Emily is none other that Sculpt. Her Logan.

And this shocking revelation breaks her heart to pieces...She doesn't understand how is this possible, how could she have fallen in love with this cold, unexpressive, hard shell of a breating, speaking, living body of her Logan? What was once her Logan...

But even though his words hurt her, break her, shatter her, his touch is the familliar one, and Emily is transfixed, torn between the notion of the man she fell for and this new person that is ripping her soul apart and yet though his touch, she recognizes the little pieces of that man...her Logan

and those moments are emotionally thrilling, and crippling in a way, palpable and vivid as your eyes read the scenes filled with sensuality, passion and captivating notion of carnal desires

And even though, the hidden plan was to save Emily in the way she could not grasp or be let know off, Logan manages to rescue her from the clutches of that world, while he needs to pay the deed and sacrifice more, so she can walk away safe and heal.

Fast forward two years, Emily is slowly healing, re-living/dealing with her nightmares on a farm with horses as a therapy process. She believed she moved on, at least she thought if Logan is not in front of her, she could let go...until he appears.

The process of reveal the hidden truths will show Emily that things are not always clear and in plain sight, and even though Logan is trying to make her believe that he had no choice in doing differently, as he did what he had to do to make sure she stays alive, no matter how horrid and unacceptable it was...
”You made me love you then you wrecked me with it. Then...then you gave me back piece by piece every night only to take it away all over again in the morning.”

...how vile and hummiliating it was for her to go through that...but in all that action he had to play out as cruel and hard and emotionless, he did give her the minimum of emotion he provided for her before – he loved her...
”I was so confused at who he was. Cold and unattached one moment and now ... now he was holding me in his arms as if he cared.

...and because he loved her he was able to pull it through for both of them even if she didn't see it at the time...well, can't actually blame her, right?
”When our eyes met we both knew that tonight was something more than either of us had expected. It was cathartic and powerful. Logan had given me control in a place where I had none. He’d given me the option to say no. He’d given me my dignity back.

Inspite of the fact that Emily's emotions are all over the place, she still loves him, she still hates him, she still resents him, she wants to forgive him, she still wants him...she's still pulling back, she's trying to back away, push him away...

Logan is determind to make her see that they still have that from the beginning and she needs to awaken it up, she needs to embrace it and reign it again with him by her side...and he's gonna lead her through it...he's not giving up...
“I won’t walk away from us.”
“Sculpt—”
“You need time—I get that. But I won’t give up.”
“You can’t stay here. I live here and—”
“I own the fuckin’ place, Emily. You’ve been living on my farm for two years.”

And while the process of persuasion takes place, it grips your heart to see the lengths Logan will go for Emily, persistant and determined...
“Look at me.” His thumb rhythmically stroked across the cleft in my chin. “Just... please give us a chance.”

“What I should’ve said was that I love you.” My breath escaped, and I stared, mouth agape. And nothing deterred him it seemed. “I’ve never said that to anyone except my mother. Because I never loved anyone else—until you.”

Still Emily won’t let him in that easily, the trust is gone and it’s not easy gaining it back again…she still loves him BUT she can't just get over the fact that he had hurt her, even though the fact that his reasons were justified, it doesn’t make it any easier for her to give in…

And he'll persuade her again...and again...and again...how ever long it takes...
“Trust is built. Ours just needs to be rebuilt and it takes time. But baby, we’ll do it together.”

And after him being patient, he takes control and gives her another push towards the truth – that the love they had never died, they were both broken but they also had the inner strenght to mend it...
“What we had, we can’t get back, Sculpt.”
“We can, ’cause it never fuckin’ left.”

this time he won’t risk of losing her again…and his mind is set up to win her over…to fight for her...
“Baby, you’re the one who gave me the strength to survive Raul. It has always been you. It will always be you. Emily ...you’re my trophy. And I lost you.” He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “I can’t lose you again. I have to do whatever it takes to win you back.”

“And you never lose. I’m not something to win.”

Logan frowned. “No. No, you’re not. But you’re something to treasure.”

with any means necessary...

“I never lose. You know that.”

“You, Emily. You’re worth fighting for. I fought all my life, but never for anything worthwhile. Now ... Now I’m fighting for my heart. Bullshit ends here and now.”

“Let me love you.”

“Please don’t ask me to let you go. I can’t do it. I’m not strong enough to do it again.”

”We’re only broken when we’re apart.”

*sigh*

My favorite quote in this story:

cause that's how strong their love was...

We're only broken when we're apart."

Holy shit. Wow. I had no idea what to expect from this book, but I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. The best advice I can give you is to go into this absolutely blind. Don't read reviews as even some of the most minor stuff can be spoilers. I will try to sum this up the best I can without giving anything away.

One minute Emily is in love and giving her virginity to a man she loves and trusts implicitly. She's been dating Sculpt, the lead singer of a band and underground fighter, for months now. She's looking forward to more time with him, to plans, to hope...

The next minute she wakes up in her own personal hell.
Kidnapped.
Starved.
Beaten.
I was alone and fighting to survive.
When I heard Sculpt's voice, I thought he was there to save me.

I was wrong.

At this point of the story I was completely and utterly lost. It was a state of "what the fuck" and "what's going on", but I read on

And the plot just thickened.

Logan, or Sculpt, went from being her dream to her personal nightmare in just a blink of an eye and the crack of a whip.
I'm scared."
Logan stared at me with eyes that were cold, dark, and without a spark of...anything.
"You should be."

Nashoda Rose wrote a captivating story that gripped me from the very first chapter. You experience every feeling, tremor, and lost hope along with the heroine. You want Logan to turn out to be the good guy, for this all to be some sort of trick, but is it really?
You need to fear me, not hate me."
I did. I feared him. But I think I hated him more. No. I knew I hated him more. For what he'd done. For what he was doing. For the betrayal. Most of all, for tarnishing something so beautiful and making it ugly.

Emily was a heroine that I should have by all intents and purposes been annoyed with, but yet something about her just clicked for me.

As for Logan? Well, not much I can tell you about him without giving anything away. But what I can tell you is that by the end of the book you would have fallen for him. Hard.

There is a strong distinction in the writing and feeling of the first and second half. The first half having a much darker and grittier feeling to it, while the second half is more emotional. What happens to lead from one to the other? I won't tell you that. That's something you have to read to find out.

This is not a dark romance, but precisely as the blurb says it's a romance with dark elements in it. It will suck you in and keep you riveted to the pages until the very last one.

Nashoda Rose definitely has herself a new fan after finishing this book, and I cannot wait to find out what she has in store with the next one.

Writing style: 1st person POV (dual POV's in the 2nd half)

I am going to rate this one a four stars. I really did enjoy the storyline, there were just a few parts though that got my frustration level up. This would be thanks to the heroine Emily, during the second half of the book she became one of those heroine's that held on to her grudge for just too long. Also, she is so wanting to be independent, but to me she came across as cold at some points. Logan tried so very hard to earn her forgiveness; but it was like talking to a brick wall!

I don't really want to get into the storyline too much as I went into this pretty much blind, and I found that it upped the suspense for me. There is some dark to this romance, but it isn't as dark as some of the other books that I have read. The romance is almost cheesy at times; but I enjoyed it. How can you not fall in love with a guy who is not only an illegal fighter; but a lead singer in a band too!
I enjoyed getting to know his band members as well, nad there are a few that will be getting a book too and I can't wait! Next up is Emily's friend, Kat and band member, Ream! Those two are going to be explosive together; and even better is the fact that Kat has some mystery surrounding her and her past.

All in all, this is a great beginning to an intriguing series. I am fully hooked, and I just can't wait to learn more about the Tear Asunder's band members! Not only are the main characters lovable, but the side characters are fascinating as well! Nashoda Rose is a new author for me, but one that I am enjoying discovering! Next up is Ream and Kat! This is going to be one heck of a story...I can already tell! Bring it on!

I was completely blown away by this book! I loved the novella, With You and while it ended on a huge cliffhanger, I had NO CLUE as to what was going to happen next!!

The story begins right where the novella ended, Emily's kidnapped and awakens in a dark, dank basement. She has been brought into a sick, dark world of violence, humiliation, torture and the worse part, Logan's a part of it! Of course, there's A LOT more to the story than that and I don't want to give it away so I won't say more.

 photo Torn_zpsbw2agjdf.jpg

I absolutely adore a story that immerses me into its pages, its words and I get so caught up in the characters, the journey, the emotions. This book did EXACTLY that!!

This story grabbed a hold of me from the very beginning and had my emotions in a vice grip for the first half of this book. And I spent the second half, like Emily, picking up the pieces of my broken heart. While it may not sound like it, this is a story about an endless love.

“We were torn apart, because Eme – I’d never have stayed away from you any other way.”

What I loved most about this story was the bond and love between Logan and Emily. While it was torn, shredded and appeared to be destroyed because of what Emily endured, Logan never gives up.

“You wrecked me.” I barley recognized my ragged whisper as my voice. “I was scared of you. I…I still am.”

Both Emily and Logan are formidable forces. Emily suffered unimaginable torture both physically and emotionally yet she's strong. She may have cracks and feel broken but she's not. She endured and she survived.

When Logan reappears in Emily's life. She struggles with her feelings for Logan because she needs to move on. She feels like she can never trust him again and that he'd be a reminder of what she endured.

 photo Torn2_zpszg6bz6ia.jpg

All through this dark, tumultuous and gut wrenching journey, Logan's determined and set on getting Emily back. His love for Eme is breathtakingly beautiful and never ending.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a dark story with intense action, raw emotion and a love like no other. And if you've not read a Nashoda Rose book before, you MUST! Looking forward to Kat and Ream's story next!

RATING: 4 "Only Broken When Apart" Hearts!!! :D <3

description

There are some reads that temporarily hold our interest, their stories we take over for escapism, and then there are other reads, like Nashoda Rose’s Torn From You, which commandeer our lives – from the first page to long after the last – obliterating the fictional divide and stealing the reality of our world once we start reading and easily replacing it with the sights, sounds, and emotions of our characters’ world, blanketing us in a tale awash with conundrums, shocking revelations, and individuals who hold our undivided attention.
“We were torn apart, because Eme- I’d never have stayed away from you any other way.”

Torn From You introduces us to our heroine Emily under horrifyingly haunting circumstances, shattering any illusions of a fluffy romance, and instead thrusting us in a dark and chilling world where fear knows no bounds and hatred is the only companion. The first half, with every gripping word, leaves us submerged in an ocean of dread, horror and despair. The second half gives us shards of hope and faith of a happy end for our protagonists, yet that faith doesn’t lessen the intensity of their story as we start each chapter with abated breath waiting to see what’s in store for our star-crossed couple.

description
“You need to fear me, not hate me."
I did. I feared him. But I think I hated him more. No, I knew I hated him more. For what he'd done. For what he was doing. For the betrayal. Most of all, for tarnishing something so beautiful and making it ugly.”

Emily has been easy to root for from the beginning, her charm and insecurities catalysts for our endearment, and her feelings for Logan bringing a smile to our faces. Though we are happy initially, we quickly sober as Emily’s world shatters, illuminating the suffocating loneliness of her predicament and the acrid taste of betrayal. And yet, through it all she holds herself together with a strength we’re sure we wouldn’t be able to muster were we faced with the same circumstances. Though we acutely feel the horrors of her situation, she never gives up or douses herself in a dramatic shroud of self-pity. Instead, she fights and she survives.

Logan, fighter/rockstar, is wrapped in a cloak of mystery and uncertainties, his character situating us on a seesaw where on one side his actions draw outrage and shock, but on the other side an invisible elastic snapping us back to him, never giving up on the sweet good guy from before. (That's all I can say about him.)
“Some things can’t be repaired. You break them bad enough, they can’t be fixed.”

description
The romance between Logan and Emily is complicated. We desperately hope for a solution where all will be well, and the blurred line between love and hate once again become solid with our couple on the side of the proverbial rainbows and unicorns. Though their relationship does move fairly quickly, it is realistic with Emily’s hesitations and mistrust of Logan as he reappears in her life, making the rediscovery of their love – through sweet gestures, breathtaking words, and sexy and steamy moments – all the more beautiful.

description
“You’re mine. You’ll always be mine.”

Despite the ache of what happened still lingering in the back our hearts and minds, some relief comes in the form of a fantastic cast of secondary characters, from Logan’s band mates to Emily’s friends; I cannot wait to see their stories unfold.

Overall, Torn From You gives us the dark and gritty, but also gives us the light and laughter, and although Emily’s constant inner struggle and prolonged grudge got annoying and frustrating at times in the second half, the predictability of some parts, and the disappointment from not having lyrics to the song Logan wrote for Emily, this is a tale both heart-wrenching and heartwarming in equal measure, and wholly satisfying. Nashoda Rose has found a fan in me, and now I'm anxious to read Kat and Ream's story next!

5 Stars!
Since i read the blurb i knew this book was for me..
And it was really great..

Sexy, dark, abusive: YEAH!
The first half was very powerful.. After a little prologue and when everything is breezy..BAM!

In seconds it had me shouting ready to vomit.. Seriously there were 2-3 schenes when all i wanted to do was
scream bloody murder.. At one point i threw my tablet off my reading nook and i didn't want to touch it ever again..
That monster Alfonzo along with the devil incarnated Raul made my skin crawl every time they were around..

And then Logan/Sculpt.. You know the book has surprises when the hero has two names.. He was cold, domineering, cruel
But i could tell it wasn't his real self.. At times he really made me hate him.. God, how he let them do those things to her..
And then at nights.. he was entirely someone else.. So sexy!! Too sexy!!

As for our girl.. Eme, was freaked out completely! But i loved how she kept fighting even when there was no way out..
She kept herself sane and tried her best to find out the real motives behind all Logan did.. But the truth is things were too ugly..

At the second half, which was actually the bigger one, we find our story progressed 2 years after the last incident..
Eme has a stable life living with her best friend Kat, working to rehabilitate abused horses on their farm..
She is still hurt from what happened, but she is doing ok.. until Logan!Again!

Logan is back for good.. His days as a fighter are over and his band is doing pretty well..
Eme hates his guts, she has no idea about what trully happened.. And he tries to win her back..
And protect her like he always did..
He is not the same cold person that destroyed her when he walked away..

I really loved this book.. The first half was dark and blurry, the second sexy, N.A. with a great cast to surround the main
characters.. It has everything you want.. Interesting Rockstars, a broudy special agent, a fighter with a splash of kink on the
side and many secrets.. Great female characters, slaves, really bad people.. Name it..

Here are some of my fav quotes..

"Kidnapped.
Starved.
Beaten.
I was alone and fighting to survive.
When I heard Sculpt's voice, I thought he was there to save me.
I was wrong."

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- All the secondary characters are amazing.. I loved them and i'm really happy that everyone will get a book..
- Mat and Kat! I love those two.. They are Eme's family..
- Logan's mother an amazing woman..
- The sentimental part was very strong..
- Many twists..
- The end is action packed, i didn't see that coming..
- Deck and Georgie.. omg!!!
- Ream and Kat! Hello can't you see you love each other?
- Alfonso,Jacob and Raul! I hope you all have a nice time in HELL!!!

- Kai! Is a mystery!!! I'm intigued!
- I didn't like Raven..
- Poor Logan had enough!
- I wanted to cut Raul's fingers one by one..
- I 'm not sure about the horse/guitar tattoo..
- Crisis was hilarious..
- Deck was a true friend..

I want to thank Nashoda Rose for giving me the chance to read her book!
Thank you so much!

Wow this book had my stomach in the knots for the first fifty percent. Who to trust? I was mapping out how to kill everyone in this mansion with a bazooka gun and running for freedom with a cloud of smoke behind me. The author did an amazing job writing this portion of the story. I was so in it and was stressed beyond belief.

"Kidnapped.
Starved.
Beaten.
I was alone and fighting to survive.
When I heard Sculpt's voice, I thought he was there to save me.
I was wrong."

Emily has rebuilt her life when two years later Sculpt waltzes back into it. He asks forgiveness and tells her the reasons for her kidnapping and the part he played in it. He’s back with his band and wants Emily at his side.

description

There is a large cast of characters in this story who all have Sculpt’s back. Personally I would have loved her forgiving and finding love elsewhere but hey that’s just me.

Sculpt is still hot and commanding and remains patient while knocking down legos and building their relationship back up.

"You, Emily. You're worth fighting for. I fought all my life, but never for anything worthwhile. Now... Now I'm fighting for my heart. Bullshit end here and now."

description

I have a few minor issues with the book:

His excuse for not telling her what the hell was going on because she needed to fear him (BULLSHIT). The damn room wasn’t bugged he could have said anything to her. The farmhouse…the whole band has rooms there and he has top floor and Emily never noticed the rest of the house for two years? Also, Sculpt thought he could sky rocket to fame and go unnoticed by the bad guys?? If not Emily it would have been a band mate is my guess. Last but not least, what were the words to the song he wrote her?

Overall, an exciting and hot read which made for a good debut novel.

“We’re only broken when we’re apart.”

Drugged and taken against her will, fighting to survive. Eme soon realizes that there is nothing left to fight for; especially when the reason to fight is the very reason you’re there. Lost in her own mind, as time slips her by, confused and humiliated, how could this happen, was it all a dream, was it all a lie???
It was both of us – Torn apart. Forced. Ripped. Broken.

The only way Sculpt can keep Eme close is if he fights and wins. Not willing to let that happen, he uses his skill to keep her in his bed. This isn’t a game, it’s all too real…why won’t she listen?!? She’s a fighter, always has been and always will be.

Eme
From Em's POV we spend a lot of time in her head, “Lego building” but it was there that we saw her inner strength; someone to respect and admire.
"I realized I didn’t have it in me to forgive…or to forget. But I’d find a place in me that could – live."

Logan
Logan was a dream; Rock star fighter all rolled up in a delicious alpha man package. When we got a glimpse of the story from his POV, my heart just melted but it was his lines that made my panties drop.
“That pussy doesn’t get fucked, touched, or played with without me. You need it, I’m happy to give it to you. But you, lying in bed playing by yourself—no.”

Torn from You took me for a ride, started off bumpy and intense and somehow managed to leave me with a smile on my face. I can’t say much because it is definitely a story you have to live in. It was a fast paced book that constantly kept me on my toes. I loved how the author managed to put two different worlds in one book and make it all gel together, the transition was seamless. It all made sense and I totally loved it. It showcased an ugly side of life that wasn’t overly “dark” but dark enough. I had tons of questions when I got done with With You and I continued to add to my list throughout the first half of this book, but my questions were all answered and if I had any doubts or questions left it was wrapped up in a bonus scene from Logan's POV: http://www.nashodarose.com/index.php/...

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and know that this is a series I will devour as soon as they hit the digital shelves. Even though Logan and Eme’s story comes to an end, I’m more than ready to get my hands on Kat and Ream’s book, especially after being teased with the possibilities of them throughout Torn from You. Not to mention how excited I am about the other amazing characters who I hope and pray will somehow get their own book; Georgie and Deck, Crisis, Kite and Matt, who knows we might

This beginning of this book can be labeled as dark romance but it's not very dark because it doesn't contain but some sexual encounters contain and there is plenty of physical abuse.

That being said I'm not going to go into the story because part of the charm of this book is not knowing what's coming next so I'm going to tell you a little bit about what I liked and disliked about this novel.

description
description

Because I'm trying to be more positive these days I'm going to start with the things I liked about this books.

First of all it was good reading a book that has a foot in the dark romance department and I liked the fact that no sexual abuse took place because that is one of the main reasons to way I sometimes don't like to read dark...it depends on my mood...you know how it is girls :P

description

Secondly I liked the fact that this novels plot was different from the stuff I've read so far. Sure, if you want and look really closely you can find similarities between any books but all in all this story was pretty different from what I've read so far...and I mean different in a good way :P

And how can I not mention the HOT SEX...yeah...that's in there all right. And I especially liked the scene where he . I know I shouldn't be likening that but what can I do?

description

Although this book was great there where some things that prevented me from giving it 5 stars.

For starters the fact that she kept wanting him but pushing him away was soooooo frustrating and refusing to listen to him after everything...I just wanted to punch her at times.

description

And at sometimes I felt like I was missing pieces from the story and things where left unanswered and for little old me with slightly OCD tendencies that is a no go. For example to this day I don't know exactly what happened to Logan after she left and I kept waiting for him to tell his story but nothing happened...we get some answers here and there but the big picture is missing.

description

But despite everything this was a very good read and I totally recommend it if you want to dip your finger into the dark romance but you are to afraid of what you'll going to find there.

4.5 Torn From You Stars

Torn From You is the story of Logan and Emily... And goodness, their story is gripping and intense... And so much more...

"How could he..."

It starts with the prologue which charts the events leading up to the dramatic end of, 'With You.'

Logan is the lead singer in a rock band and an illegal fighter, he goes by the name of Sculpt. Logan and Emily have been hanging out together for months..... He taught her how to fight, and how to love, and then...

.....Emily's world of bliss turned on it's head in EVERY. WAY. POSSIBLE.

Torn From You is a book of two halves, the first raw, and dark, and gritty, the second gave a breath of beauty...

This story took me on a journey, the journey of Emily and Sculpt. I can't give you too many details, even some thoughts, feelings and quotes would spoil the ride for you. It gave me a mixture of the raw and the beautiful, the suspenseful and the sweet and made for an addictive recipe. Compulsive reading.... What. Will. Happen???

description
"I feared him. But I think I hated him more."

The story is mainly told from Emily's perspective but at 71% something magical happened, we got Logan's point of view.... Thank you Nashoda. It's just what I wanted!!!

"Why? Why are you doing this?"

If you're someone who is yet to venture into the darker side, but fancy something with a grittier substance, well, this would be an excellent tale to sample. If, like me, you ADORE something with grit, a lot of angst and a great story that keeps you engaged and addicted to the page, then you will LOVE this too. I seriously could NOT put it down, I read it every moment I could, even though life was so busy at the time.....

Was I happy with the ending??? Would you be happy??? Well, go read it and find out?!!! Chances are you will devour the ride..... I can't wait to jump on board the next Tear Asunder installment.

♥ Bonus scene from Logan's point of view that can be read after Torn From You http://www.nashodarose.com/index.php/...

***

Note
The prologue in this book is a repeat of a chapter from With You.
This is so Torn From You can be read as a stand alone.
If you're yet to purchase, I'd highly recommend the combined book version that's now been released, Torn from You and With You
Enjoy the world of Logan and Emily.....

***4,5 "Lego" stars***

Wow!!! This book was a huge surprise for me!!!

To be true the first half made me feel a little bit strange and i was all the time on edge...
I didn't know who to trust and i didn't know how to feel...
The main heroine went through so much shit, but many times i caught myself irritated by her...

As for the guy that wasn't worthy of trust, i loved him fiercely...
Have i lost my mind???

Yeah, probably!!!
But if you let me explain you some things, maybe you give me every right to feel that way.

Well, the book started with the better signs...

A man and a woman fully in love, they were enjoying each other.
The happiness of being together made everything around them to shine...
How lovely was that???

And then... Bang!!!

Darkness, abuse and destruction...

Emily was taken from a club while she was watching her loved one to performing with his band...
Two unknown men took her away... They hit her and abuse her... They violated her...
She was lost and she was hold by the hope that her man will find her... And he did!!!
But something was really, really wrong!!!

With terror she realized that he was having a part in this ugly and messed-up situation...
Emily felt betrayed and her heart shattered in million pieces. How could he do that to her????
And beyond the above, he was her new owner and she had to obbey him.
Her heart was torned in two...
From one hand, she was still in love with him, but at the same time she felt hatred for the man that he became...
And his attitude confused her even more... The nights he reminded her of the old good Logan that she loved with all her heart, but the morning he tranformed in a cold bastard who demanded her total surrended...
Fifteen awful days last her slavery and then Logan got her out of there...

Now, two years later he returns and he demands to leave everything behind and to give him a second change.
But she can not trust him anymore, not when because of him her heart and spirit was broken...
But Sculpt is insisted and he can't let her go...
Now that he can, he will try to repair them both because that shitty situation back then torn them apart and broke them and only together can be repaired...

Well, i know that you'll tell me crazy for loving this guy, but believe me when i'm saying that beneath his shitty attitude was hidden other bigger things that i can't reveal you...
The only thing that i can tell you is that the whole time he was trying to protect her, but she couldn't understand that and she made the things ugly for both of them...

Even though that i don't like so much this kind of books with human slavery and humiliations, this book surprised me and i can say that i really liked it.

I liked very much the whole Logan's attitude, but i was irritated many times for Emily's reactions...
She had every right to act like that but she did the things worse and she put herself in bad situations...
Yeah, i know that she was got through hell, but if wasn't Sculpt there protecting her, her fate will be much worse...
I felt sympathy for that guy especially when i found out his story and what happenedto him after she left... And then i felt sorry for him for all this effort to be with her... He really tried hard to win her back and that made my day!!! And hers, i'm sure!!! Bahahaha....

Now, i'm wondering what will happened in next books...
I'm so curious about the other members of "Tear Assunder" and especially for Cam and Ream...

Reading Order
With You (Tear Asunder #0.5) - Emily and Logan's beginning
Torn from You (Tear Asunder #1) - Emily and Logan's Story
Overwhelmed by You (Tear Asunder #2) - Ream and ?? Story

Review
In the beginning, this book took me on a dark journey that had my jaw dropping so many times. It was dark, it was painful and it was devastating. I couldn't figure out where the story-line was going to go with this.

"You made me fear you.
You made me fear myself.
You locked me inside myself so deep
that it took me months to break
free again."

It wasn't until the second half of the book that the dark clouds lifted and things were looking up. I loved Emily in this book because even though she thought she was weak, she was the strongest heroine for putting up with what she did.

My emotions were all over the place through this book - the author was able to make you hate Logan but then fall in love with him after a few more chapters. She brought out so many emotions in me while I read this and gave me so many different genres all wrapped up together in one story.

Emily is in a relationship with Logan and she is falling so fast for him but she doesn't give in to his pleas to join him on the road with his band. Next thing we know is that Emily is kidnapped and brought into a sex slave industry. She doesn't know how she got there or if she will ever get free; she more or less gives up all hope until the love of her life shows up....but he isn't there to help her.....no, he is all part of this.

Emily must submit in order to survive and who other must she submit to? Yes, you guessed it, Logan but then why are there times that he seems like her "old Logan" and not the cruel and calculated man who can be sadistic when around the others in the industry.

I am going to leave you off here because by writing any more will give the story away - just remember that this is only the first part of the book and the author continues to twist the plot left and right.

"Eme, us.....We're only broken when we're apart."

Wrap Up
If you love to have your emotions in turmoil and wondering what the hell is going to happen next, then this is the perfect book for you.

I also have to add that the secondary characters in this book are jaw dropping, steamy and oozing that ALPHA sex pheromones!!

I can't wait to read the upcoming stories about these dominant males!

DAMNNNNNN, I cannot believe the experience I just had at the expense of Nashoda Rose. She lulled me into a sweet surrender with the first book of this series, With You. There I was treated to a love story so sweet and caring but with the undercurrent of mystery not yet revealed... something just around the corner... lurking.

Now I am not usually a dark romance reader...they are not something I seek out. Yet this series killed me... had me spellbound and I pulled up my big girl panties to take it on and I am thrilled I did.

The opening is our girl, Emily, taken from the bar where she was going to see Sculpt and his band sing for the first time. They had a intense journey getting to the place where they are now.... together; happy and in love. They can't keep their hands off each other and both have found that feeling, that incredible sense of oneness. It is fresh, all consuming and both are in the moment .... living their dream.

As the blurb for the book tells you... Emily is taken, held captive and when she hears Sculpt's (Logan) voice she thinks he is there to save her... her knight in shining armor... but that is not how this goes...

I seriously loved this book and in doing so...giving you anymore than the tease... I feel would change your reading experience. So, I am not.

But what I will do is tell you Ms.Rose has a very distinct voice... one I appreciate. She used special new phrases to tackle familiar situations; the use of the mind building barriers is nothing new... but to use Legos as the means was different. When Sculpt talked about Emily and how he thought of her... he used Trophy not as a possession but as a someone to be treasured and cared for. There were others which will hit your heart and make you take a moment to think... that is exactly what I feel about the person I love.

She also has the best sense of humor and created a few characters who were able to defuse situations with their voices... Be on the look out for the girls, Georgie and Kat. Both are wonderful and books are already planned.

Lastly, she tackles a very serious issue full on. These things happen everyday... and in her writing she showed what not to do... how you can keep yourself safe while telling a full complete story.

It is official... I am a fan of this author and really will be excited when her next book comes out.

AH. LORD

Give it to this bitch right here *points at self*, to love the novella but hate the novel. Like, who the fuck does that? 😂😂

description

DNF-ed at 36%.

With the DNF streak that I am sporting right now, I am pretty sure I'll be finished with my reading challenge by the end of the month to be honest. Oh well, don't mind me. Let's get into the review, shall we?

First, let me just say, this book was b-o-r-i-n-g and this is more of a It's not you, It's me kinda review. So bear with me.

description

After reading the novella "With You", I was so excited to jump into this one. The ending of that novella was not what I expected at all, and I didn't expect the book to take such a dark turn but it did. And my interest was piqued.

Sadly, in "Torn From You", the author seems to be struggling to settle between wanting Sculpt to be the terrifying big bad wolf, or the sweet loving guy. And having him going back and forth, giving Emily what she craves at night – being loving and caring and tending to her needs, only to be all "I am the Master", "You should only call me Master" , "Kneel and only speak when spoken to" in the morning, bores the hell out of me.

Before you throw tomatoes my way, I am not a sadist. Of course, I need my dose of kindness every now and then. But when the setting is about slavery and kidnapping, setting the guy up to be scary and hard and terrifying only to have him be all mushy and lovey-dovey at night just doesn't work for me.

description

If you want to be the dark twisted nightmare of a man, be him. If you want to be sweet and loving and caring, be him. Don't settle down into a schedule and be an ass in public only to be caring and loving behind doors. I get that he might be doing this for the good of both Emily and himself, but damn if the predicability of the story doesn't turn me off.

Not to mention Emily and her inconsistency of wanting to fuck him and hate him at the same time. Like girl, pick one. Just like Sculpt's attitude, her attitude also changes with the sun and moon. When it's night time, all she wants is for him to show her kindness and to love her. But when it's daytime, she continuously thinks of wanting to escape and kill him.

Where were those thoughts when he was fucking your brain stupid, girl?

description

While the plot was plausible and the characters likable, I just find it boring when I can predict a plot.

OMG, HOW AM I GOING TO WAIT UNTIL DECEMBER 27TH??? I NEED THIS NOW!

Review posted on December 22nd.

Mind fuck. Nashoda Rose will mess with your head and leave you wanting more. Just like her bad boy Sculpt. Speaking about him, I wrote a review for prequel, With You, recently - you can read it here - and based on the way both stories are written, my advice would be to first read prequel and than Torn from You.

Also, few days ago, we posted Nashoda's playlist on Way Too Hot Books for this book and you can check it out if you like to read your books with music in the background.

Logan is still one dominant bastard. Maybe even more than in the novella. Torn from You starts as a really dark story. Emily is a girl with seriously bad luck - just when you think that things couldn't get uglier, something even more disturbing happens. It is hard to talk about the novel without giving away too many details, but you will get an impression like you are reading two different stories. First half is twisted and along of the lines of Captive in the Dark. Second half is something else - I was worried for a second that I would end up not liking Torn from You as I expected, but just wait and be patient. There will be a plot twist, revealing secrets and so much more.

Tear Asunder men. Logan is not the only alpha male. We will meet the rest of the guys from his band, Tear Asunder. Some of them are scary as Logan and others are goof balls who don't know when to keep their mouths shut. I can't wait to read their stories. You will like the girls too - I'm wondering about Emily's friend, something bad happened to her.

A little bit on the drama side. You can not expect book without drama worthy of all drama queens from something with premise like this. Cliches too. I thought that Torn from You would be better without that prologue.

Who should read it? Fans of stories with alpha males like Travis Maddox or Remington Tate, twisted stories and a lot of steamy scenes.

4.5 Stars!!

Torn From You is Sculpt and Emily's story. In With You Torn Asunder 0.5 we saw them meet and fall in love. Then we saw everything get torn away.

Note: I really recommend reading With You Torn Asunder 0.5 first. It really sets things up for Torn From You. You get a feel for who the characters are and what is going on leading up to the events of Torn From You.

Torn From You felt like two different stories almost. Part 1--Sculpt and Emily, master and slave and Part 2--Logan and his Mouse, friends and lovers.

Part 1

"Kidnapped.
Starved.
Beaten.
I was alone and fighting to survive.
When I heard Sculpt's voice, I thought he was there to save me.

I was wrong."

The first 40% of the book was painful. It was dark, it was crazy, it was disturbing. There were twists and turns. I had a lot of hate for a lot of people. I had so many questions and not enough answers.

Who was the real Sculpt?
Why was Emily kidnapped?
How is Sculpt involved?
Is Sculpt really involved?
Why is Sculpt involved?

I fell in love with Sculpt in With You. The confident, controlling, dominant man had this soft, sweet side that he gave Emily. I questioned everything I knew about Sculpt in Torn From You. We saw pain, anger, and evil in Sculpt.

"Don't ever think you're safe with me. I fuck you because I need release, that's all you can be to me."

I wanted so badly to hate Sculpt and there were times when I did hate him....but then at the same time I still loved him. *sigh*

By day there were....

Secrets. Lies. Betrayals.

By night there were....

Whispered words. Soft caresses. Making love.

And Emily...poor Emily who already lacked confidence and security now questions everything she knew about Sculpt. Her heart tells her this can't be real. This isn't the Sculpt that she fell in love with. He would never kidnap her. Take her as a sex slave.

"I cried for who I'd become, this weak woman. I detested myself for loving a man that was saving me from Raul by keeping me, and I detested myself for hating that same man who was destroying my dignity."

She fights for her life. For what she had with Sculpt. But will it be enough?

Part 2:

Two Years Later

Emily is trying to put her life back together. She's trying to move on from the 15 days she spent in hell. She's finally realizing her dreams and starting to heal. Then Logan walks back in to her life.

Once again, Emily finds herself torn. Torn between the love she still feels for Logan and the memories of what she had to endure at his hands.

"Maybe it's what you had to do. But when I look at you now, I'm not sure who I see, the man I fell in love with or the cold, expressionless man that watched me suffer and made me fear him."

Logan just wants a chance to explain. For Emily to hear the full story from his lips. For forgiveness. For a second chance. He's had to stay away for two years in order to protect Emily. He's gone through his own hell.

"Baby, you're the one who gave me the strength to survive Raul. It has always been you. It will always be you. Emily...you're my trophy. And I lost you. I can't lose you again. I have to do whatever it takes to win you back."

I absolutely loved everything about this book. Sculpt. Logan. Gah—he was so sexy and alpha and rawr! He and Emily were so HOT together. I loved their love story. The things they had to go through. The pain, the heartache, the struggles. Logan never gave up on Emily.

Emily may be able to forgive Logan but can she forget?

"You, Emily. You're worth fighting for. I fought all my life, but never for anything worthwhile. Now... Now I'm fighting for my heart. Bullshit end here and now."

I wasn't expecting all of that action at the end. And to find out that she was involved. Holy Hell!

The secondary characters were fantastic and I can't wait to read more about them. Please, please, please give Deck and Georgie a book!!!!!!

Torn From You
is an interesting book that manages to compile everything we love about a book..It has:
Kidnapping
Hot underground fighter/musician
Obsessive boyfriend
Slavery
and lets not forget the SEX
<----MOST IMPORTANT PART :P
Torn from you is one of those books that keeps you mildly entertained until the end. In all actuality, the first half of the book was dark and gritty. I can see why many people compared this book to Captive In The Dark, but reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ...Lets be honest here It is nothing compared to CITD the only similarities were the slavery and kidnapping. The last half of the book was simple and focused on rebuilding trust, love, and their relationship.

Logan is one of those characters that gets under your skin, whether it's for his barbaric alpha male tendencies or his sweet gestures, either way, I can guarantee, you will LOVE him and HATE him for what he becomes and does. Sculpt/Logan is determined and focused, Unfathomable. He is confident with no fear.

 photo brunette-fashion-hair-model-pretty-201373_zps70c2eddd.jpg
Emily is your basic heroine sweet, mousy, and shy. But soon enough Emily's demeanor and characterization changes due to her surroundings. Although things are different and her circumstances have changed she adapts and becomes a survivor.
 photo tumblr_m42q06IcQe1qh8dpxo1_1280_zpsc26e5e11.jpg
"We were torn apart, because Eme-I'd never have stayed away from you any other way."

Logan and Emily's chemistry is undeniable. Although their relationship was a bit weird at first due to his secretive ways, and Logan's cruelness towards her but he has his reasons. In order to understand you'll just have to read it :)

What annoyed me? I thought it was a bit cheesy that Logan/Sculpt is a compilation of everything we love in our book boyfriends. He was just flip flopping between occupations. One minute he is a MMA fighter and the next he singer/guitarist. I dont know why but it just rubbed me the wrong way. He is an underground fighter, musician, has a rock band, is a mercenary, and barbaric.
It just felt like I was reading a bit of Travis, Kellan Kyle, Caleb and Victor all rolled in one. In addition, the last half of the book was predictable and a bit slow for my taste. Regardless of my nit picking, the book is enjoyable...

I can't believe I did read this sooner it was just brilliant I did find a few bits hard to read but it just add more drama to the book it needed those hard parts to make the story as good as it was I literally couldn't put it down I was on a emotional rollercoaster I would b scared angry sad an happy it was crazy I had a luv/hate relationship with Sculpt I d hate him 1 min then I totally luv him my head was al over the place at times I did like Emily an lets b honest after what she went through I don't really want to pick at her but she was a tiny bit annoying in the last half of the book it kills me to say but it's true

I highly recommend this book it as hot fighter and singer Sculpt with his strong tattooed body an God does he know how to use that body WOW just WOW Ye the story is dark but it's not a over load of dark this is a great fight for luv an not giving up what u want I can't wait 4 more of this series xxx

Gosh... this book started off dark and then it got darker. Emily being kidnapped and torn away from her lover, Logan aka Sculpt. But who is her kidnapper and what did they want with her?

You, Emily. You're worth fighting for

Loved all the oh no no no moments. But then the change in storyline became more NA and that's when it lost my attention. Half the book is a wow 5 stars and the other half is a 3ish stars.

I felt like this book was a bit of everything. There's dark romance, second chance lovers, broken heroine, alpha male fighter/rocker... and there's more! Maybe a bit too much for an average length book. But overall it was a good read x

 photo tumblr_m13ktlgpui1r27rvo_zps6ad0c249.gif

what the fuck!!!! this book is a bad version of "The Dark Duet" HELL NO!
I don't even know where to start. bad bad book!!!
Its a COPY AND PAST kinda of a book. for example the neck-name Sculpt gave Emily is "mouse" umm its the same idea as "kitten" WTF
ugh the book was just awful. i don't know why people like this shit or worst for the book to be even compared with the dark duet just eww.

OH HELL NO photo oh_hell_no_zps7fbb623c.gif

okay in the begging of the book was kinda confusing .... ???
Emily met logan aka "sculpt" when she wanted to learn self defense.... i think... the author wasn't clean about it. anyways it start with emily and logan in love and just cute couple but then she gets kidnapped and he was part of it. emily feels the betrayal and instant hate. until suddenly she wants him (i mean as in wants to fuck him) okay what the fuck.... your starved, beaten, and humiliated and you think about fucking the guy, who costed. Fuck NO!! and that was just the begging of the book.
honestly i skipped so much i couldn't read any more and i want to know the ending, which sucked btw.
getting back to issue where this book is the same as the dark duet only its not even close as good.
okay in the dark duet series caleb there's Rafiq who traffic woman to be sex slaves. of course in this awful book there has to be have the same guy "Raul", who also traffic woman to be slaves. how cool
And that made this book even ridiculous is that in the dark duet Caleb smells like lavender, this book has to copy the idea so Logan/sculpt smells like GRASS.. What the fuck!!!

awesome photo large-20_zpsd5505538.gif

okay theres this part where i got SOOO pissed at i couldn't believe my eyes.
captive in the dark-the dark duet: livvie says "I preferred him sick, twisted, and sadistic. It made it easier to define how i felt toward him."
torn from you: emily says "I needed him to be cruel. It was easier to be disgusted by him."
Okay it's just keep getting ridiculous..

ewww photo large-8_zps0ffeabf3.gif

okay i dont care if its different words, or different things it the same ideas so not original.
CJ Roberts writing is beyond amazing, but this author is just not.... I feel like I'm reading a very disturbed a 13 years old girl.

go fuck yourself photo tumblr_m5mrvtnA4m1qivohbo1_500_large_zps710f99de.gif

i know it's my fault to even compare this book to the dark duet and i shouldn't have, but before reading it. i read a review where it says that this book is like the dark duet, so instantly i began to compare i couldn't stop myself, but the book didn't help at all. theres so many things that are alike in the dark duet series.
sorry if this review is so hateful, i just didn't like it at all. that story didn't even sound good. Getting to my point this book deserve less than 1 start.. Pissed me off so much

3.75 This Wore Me Out Stars.

Torn From You is the first book I have read from this sort of genre of books, and although I can't honestly say it is a theme that I would readily go back to, this book definitely has it's merits.

The writing and the story line for me were original (that-said I have nothing to compare them too), the characters were well rounded, and the actual story offered plenty of drama, twists and turns. I knew it was going to be dark, so I was prepared for it, I just didn't realise I would have so many strong feelings about the actual subject matter contained. For me this is definitely the type of book I need to be in a certain frame of mind for, hence the reason it has taken me several weeks to read it, as I have had to stop a couple of times to gather myself together before going back to it. This is in no way a black mark against Nash's writing or the story itself, but more to do with me being more of an emotional softy that I realised.

Would I recommend it, 100% yes, but if you haven't read a book that delves quite so thoroughly into the kidnapping genre in all of its forms, then make sure you are prepared for it's darkness, I am 37 years old and consider myself quite worldly, but it still shocked me at times. I love reading, some books affect me more than others, and Torn From You really pulled me in, at points I almost felt like I was feeling the pain Emily was experiencing. The touching moments when they come, left such a lump in my throat it was like I was trying to swallow a bowling ball.

I also recommend reading the novella Without You, which gives you a deeper insight into Sculpt and Emily prior to her kidnapping, it gave me a deeper understanding of the relationship between the two of them throughout Torn From You.

Edit: Now that I've gotten some sleep lets see if I can do a slightly better job at describing my feels...

DNF 44%

I can't! I have too many viable options to force myself to finish it. I really enjoyed the prequel to this. I thought it had a lot of elements that I recognized from other stories but there was enough there for it to be different. I am not one of those people who think that only one person can write a certain type of story and then every one else just has to leave it alone. However, if you are going to write a certain type of story then it needs to be well thought out and executed. Those who reviewed this and called it a poor mans Dark Duet were right about that! There were a lot of very familiar elements to that series but when you throw in a absolutely annoying heroine it just didn't work.

It started off fine. I understood some of the questions she was having and how she was skeptical about things and thought the worst of Sculpt. I understand that she went through an awful ordeal but I just can't get past how dumb she was. It was pretty obvious what was going on around her and why it had to be that way. Obviously, I didn't know some of the specifics but none of that shit really mattered when it came down to it. She ran her mouth, fought back, acted out at all of the worst times possible... then became a slut for him at the drop of a dime. If you really want to talk things out how about you say no when he asks you if it's what you want and demand that he tell you what's going on, or why he is one way with you alone and a different way around the others??? Fucking moronic! She could have come off as being strong if she didn't have her outbursts at the worst times possible and then she turned into a pleading whiny baby when she realized that wasn't the way to go. What really blew me though was that there were obvious things that were happening to everyone else there and not happening to her. Sculpt went through a lot of effort and took the time to make sure that she understood what she needed to do so that she could get through it. If a character can read another characters emotions and body language enough so to tell me the differences then it stands to reason that they would put two and two together just like I did from the information. You can't have a character be insightful and then do nothing with the information.

I hope I'm avoiding any major spoilers for those who want to read it... I usually have quite a bit of patience with heroines and even if they annoy me some I roll my eyes and keep it moving. In this book her internal dialogue was too much of the story for me to ignore it. When it got to the part where she was talking about working with her therapist and just how much information she wasn't forthcoming with and how much information others were keeping from her... I felt like if I rolled my eyes any harder they would pop out of my head. I rarely, rarely, dnf a book. I have sat through some real clunkers but it was obvious where this story was going and that her massive stupidity was ever present and going to remain in full effect. I lost all interest in her and what was going to happen to and for her. At that point I could careless how the story ends. When you read well done quality stories that are similar you just can't go backwards. It's like trying to read the Blackstone Affair after reading Crossfire or Fifty Shades or trying to read Horse after reading Deuce... you can't un-see the difference in the quality... sure you can enjoy it for what it is but if it doesn't have an original enough story and strong enough characters to carry it, it's just not going to work.
