The second book in my vampire series, Love Me Forever is set in German Village in Columbus Ohio and is the story of physician/vampire Justin Corvus and a blue-collar single mother named Stella. Neither Justin nor Stella expected the attraction between them, nor could they anticipate the act of violence that puts Justin afoul of the vampire code he helped establish.
USA Today Best-selling author Rosemary Laurey is an ex-pat Brit, retired special education teacher and grandmother who now lives in Ohio and has a wonderful time writing and letting her imagination run riot. Her hobbies are vacuuming, dusting and cleaning toilets but regrettably the demands of her writing career leave little time to engage in these pursuits.
I'm sorry but I have to give up on this one. It's bugging the hell out of me. I did however make it to page 102 before I couldn't take it anymore.
The story started out promising and the characters kinda neat. However I think her proofreader must have just pushed this one through because the leading man's name keeps changing from Justin to Julian on an almost page by page basis. Words are forgotten entirely in some sentences so that you have a 'huh?' moment and have to read that part before realizing 'Yep! It's really not there!' And the death that happens in the first part was very undisturbing. I'm usually bother if a main character dies in a book. It may not move me to tears but I expect to feel something. This one was just like 'Bang! Dead. Okay, moving on...' The only one who really feels it is the hero and even then he doesn't exactly jump to the logical conclusion, namely 'Hey! I'm a vampire who can make other vampires! Why don't I try that?'
So I apologize but 100 pages of Justin/Julian and Stella were enough for me. I give up. Maybe the book becomes amazing later on but I think I'll just get the summary from some else.
Love Me Forever starts out with Stella Schwartz a single mother, and stretched thin in order to provide for her young son. Living in her mothers house, in a dangerous area, Stella wishes they could move to a better environment, especially for her son. But she has no way at the moment. Close to Halloween, she takes her son shopping to a store for a costume, and the clerk is a handsome rogue, who is enticing, and starts to slowly court her, never knowing that he is a vampire. Justin Corvus, is a vampire and has been for centuries. Justin has fed from countless women and has bedded many as well, however he is entranced by Stella. For she is somewhat different, her scent beckons him to feast. However, he doubts that would be the best course of action. But when certain events occur, that will change the course of both their lives, they will both be tested as will their love that they hold for one another.
Love Me Forever is the first that I have read from this author, and I am so grateful I got this opportunity. Rosemary Laurey is one of my current favorite paranormal authors, especially in the Vampire Genre. This book came to me in E Book Format, and it did take me some time to read it, as I haven't managed to get my hands on a Kindle, so I had to read from my computer. However despite the form I read it from, it was a sexy read. Justin Corvus although a vampire, is very old, and after seeing his best friend find happiness with a woman who once was a mortal, he craves to find such a love as well. When he meets Stella he never would have expected how much this woman and her son would change his life, Forever! This was such a fun and sassy read, and I am so glad that I got a hold of this one. As far as vampire romances, this one is at the top of my list, with Kerrelyn Sparks and Lynsay Sands, Rosemary Laurey is a riveting author, that portrays the plot and draws the reader in, where you can hardly put it down. So if you love the paranormal romance genre than this one is definitely for you, and I guarantee you will fall in love with this author as I have.
Although this one read faster and the characters were more defined, the book was not as good to me. There were some author issues that took me out of the book and reduced my enjoyment.
Simple things like: Not often do American's go on about "you lot"; I was extremely confused about a "life-long" vegetarian wishing for a breakfast sausage sandwich; The heroine putting on a coat that was burned 2 days previously because of the blood; The string with the mother should have been more complete - it just laid there; The kid was so precocious he wasn't cute anymore The character's "voices" got confused. The Brits spoke like American's and vice versa; the characters - although established in a previous book acted different; situations established earlier in the book (like the coat) were trod over with impossibilities.
As I received all 5 books as a gift, I will continue with the series and hope it gets better.
Very cheesy at some points, but they are so well-done. A good book to just pick up and read in bed. I'm really no critic, and I'm easily amused, so.... yeah... but I liked it a lot.
And reading with an English accent for the English ones makes this book so amusing.
I really did enjoy the mystery/action parts of this book, and I loved seeing Dixie from the first book in the series heavily involved. But the way the author writes the romance storylines in both this book and the first in the series, Kiss Me Forever, just does not grab me. I feel like the writing is so focused on moving the plot along, it takes no time to let us know the characters and grow closer to them. I couldn’t tell Justin and Kit apart on the page. I wanted to know more about the male vampires’ pasts but from their actions it’s hard to imagine they’re centuries old. Maybe it’s because this book is 20 years old and I’m now 33 and I just expect better out of the men in the romances I read. I also just want the characters to be more distinct on the page. It may just be me and this author’s writing style don’t mesh well. As I’ve aged I feel I want more character-driven stories, I want to really know the characters I’m reading about, and this author just doesn’t do that for me. Overall it was a good read, when it came to the action and suspense of what was going to happen next, But when it came to the romantic storyline, I didn’t enjoy it, it felt too shallow and I just didn’t care about their relationship because I didn’t see why they loved each other, what brought them closer to each other.
A love story involving a young single working mom and her 9 year old son living in a less than safe neighborhood. While shopping for a Halloween costume they end up at the Vampire Emporium. Beyond their budget, they are just looking and are waited on by Justin corvus ( a vampire), a friend of the owners (both vampires) who is helping out.
Justin's story. He comes over to America to visit Dixie & Christopher (Kit) allowing us to see how they've settled in over there in Columbus, Ohio. (Dixie's new occupation is delightfully different). And of course he runs into the love of his life: Stella Schwartz.
She's single mom with a lowing paying job, a mom in prison and a 9 year old son: Sam.
They have 2 different groups of bad guys. Just as soon as they take care of one the other pops up. I love way the first group are handled but the second is a bit cliche and its thrown it at the end just to wrap up a story line. And Vlad Tepes (Dracula) plays a part in all this.
Justin & Stella's romance is hot and they connect well. There's several steamy scenes, but again the man, Justin, thinks he knows best what is good for the future of the relationship without consulting the woman. I hate that. You'd think he wouldnt have gotten a hint from what Kit when through in the first book, But then men are clueless when it comes to relationships.
Sam's reaction to this all is sweet. He's a very grown-up little man. Probably but to his mom and their meager financial status. he's had to grow up early.
Alot of the book is spent teaching Stella how to cope with her being a vampire. I hope the rest of the series doesen't have that much. And why do they have to climb on top of things so much. It's just showing off and not really conductive to the story.
Favorite scene: Sam & Kit's interaction at the Holloween party. Actually everything involving Sam. He almost steals the show.
The second book in Rosemary Laurey vampire series, Love Me Forever is set in German Village in Columbus Ohio and is the story of physician/vampire Justin Corvus and a blue-collar single mother named Stella. Neither Justin nor Stella expected the attraction between them, nor could they anticipate the act of violence that puts Justin afoul of the vampire code he helped establish.
Stella is a single mother with a son she would die for to protect. She deals with a mother who is in prison and makes Stella feel like she can't do anything right. The house that she lives in is not in the best neighborhood. She's lives near a drughouse and has to deal with a gang.
Then Stella meets the good Dr. Corvus. Justin meets Stella and realizes that his heart is steal there. Justin has a very bad breakup with his ex girlfriend. There is touching parts and great humor in this book this is a must read.
I felt that this story moved much faster than the first. However it bugged me that Stella just gave in to Justin so willy nilly after she had been so stubborn and adamant about him not telling her what to do. She was raging mad one day and in his bed the next. It just seemed a little abrupt to me. However I love Stella and Sam. Especially Sam. He's such a strong adorable sweet caring amazing... Etc kid. I'm pretty sure he makes the story. Also I love how feisty Stella is and sticks up for what she believes in. There were more smutty scenes in this one and sometimes I must admit I was wishing they would just get on with the story, no matter how good the scene was. What can I say, Vampire drama just makes me giddy :) I liked this one better than the first. I will definitely read the rest in the series. :)
The editing on this was awful. There are several consistency errors, such as character names. Many times words are omitted from sentences. Lots of stuff happening, but the characters are lifeless and boring. Nothing about Stella makes her interesting enough that a 2000 year old man would find her the least bit appealing or attractive. Her son, supposedly 9, is either woefully childish and unbelievable or made to sound like he's older and wise for a child. Either way, he comes off as a 4 or 5 year old, and it makes me question if the writer has any interaction with children. The perspective jumps around without warning, leaving you guessing who's speaking. WAY too many exclamations. The speaking habits of characters aren't consistent, leaving everyone with the same lackluster tone. Very repetitive. I lost count of the, "he/she all but _____."
The proofreader must have gone on holiday or something because there were a large number of grammatical errors and sentences that don't make sense because they are missing a word. I don't know why but the author has this need to finish every other sentence with an exclamation point, even when one isn't needed.
I've got another book by this author so I'll give that one a try. I'm hoping that this is just a one off. I must point out that I didn't realise that this is #2 in a series. It would be best to start with #1 because in this book, words and characters which are relevant to the previous book are mentioned but there is next to no explanation as to what they mean or what their back story is.
I was a little scared starting this after reading the reviews, because there were a lot of negative ones.
But I dont understand why? I thought this book was way better than the first. We got a lot more from all the characters and I liked how fast Stella became a vampire, and that we didnt get the can I / can't I for 200 pages. They were in love from the first page almost, and that was a fresh new thing..
I still dont think these books come any where near the LOTU, IAD or BDB series, but its definitely a good read, if you are looking for a vampire love story.. And the author even quit her pg sex scenes from the first book.. Thank God! :)
I really enjoyed the first in the series, but I LOVED this story. I enjoyed the mix with Stella being a mom. Sam is adorable and I think his reaction at the end when he learns of his moms secret to be realistic and cute. Kids always seem to shock me with how accepting they are of those who are different and seeing the positive in things! I love the romance between Stella and Justin. It is a romance so obviously they get together at the end but enjoyed how Stella has her own backbone just like Dixie and sticks up for herself and doesn't let the 'gentleman' push her around! It's a good read all in all!
Justin and Stella's love story was wonderful. After the 1st book was so-so with Kit and Dixie I was a little leery to pick up this one however, a friend loaned me her copy so onward I read. And damn I'm glad I did. The drama and angst of Love Me Forever tore at my heartstrings and left me rejoicing at the end. The added who done it, how'd it happen and will he or won't he mysteries added enough spice and meat to keep the story from being to wishy washy lovey dovey. I would say that someone would need at least a skimming working knowledge of the 1st book to get this one, since they are so intertwined. A strong emotional read, that actually made me want to buy the next in the series.
Ms. Schwartz is a single mom who meets the vampire Justin Corvis while her son is looking at book in Christopher..ahem..KIT co-owns, a friend of the vampire if you will. Schwartz and Corvis feel a bit of a connection and two days later...BOOM! He's standing on Schwartz's porch and feels like he cannot live without her. But there was no chemistry described, not a thrilling plot...and why were the characters shouting during the entire book?
I don't know about this one. Not one of my favorites but manageable if I seem to have watched the entire series of iZOMBIE in one sitting...mind you...there are only four episodes.
the Vampires have a code, you cannot break the code, if you do you're banished, there is no leeway in the code. It's a stupid code.
other than the heavy use of exclaimation points and every time she uses "I see." and then tells us why or more aptly why not the person saying "I see." doesn't really see. It's not a completely bad series. Exclaimation points make them seem juvenile and over reactive. Especially in the intimate scenes. Which go something like this
I didn't care enough about the story or the characters to keep going. I got over half way through this book, but that in itself was a struggle. I can't recommend this book to anyone. There is really nothing exciting here and there were so many errors, grammatically, that it was a real disappointment. I can't believe this was published this way.
Given I had the first two books in one volume, I continued on and read this book. It was OK....not horrible, but not great. The love affair happened too quickly and Stella ran headlong into vampirism without any problems which was less than acceptable as a reader. I have the next two books in this series, but it will be a while before I pick them up, if ever.
I liked it. Justin and Stella's story was better than the first book. I like that there was more romance and more action in this one and enjoyed the new characters. I think the author's writing style is getting better with each book. Will pick up the next in the series.
very good story about modern day woman and very old fashion vampire lover, a single moms devotion to her child , very funny moments and just a delight to read
Better than the last one, but still only two stars. Going to give the series one more try with the next book, but if it doesn't get a lot better I'm done.
