Tyree was just a boy when he was forced to watch the killing of his father. After the men killed his father they tied him to the headboard of his mother's bed and made him watch as the men raped and killed his mother and his eleven year old sister. Then they shot Tyree and set the barn on fire. They left him for dead but the smoke was seen by a prospector named Modi Gibson. Modi nursed the boy back to health and taught the boy how to use a colt. Modi wasn't just a prospector, he was a retired gunfighter named the Lerado Kid. He taught the boy everything he knew about useing a gun. There came a day when even Modi was no match for the boy. Modi didn't think there was a man alive who could beat Tyree with a gun. He knew the boy was ready to find the men who had killed his family.
