The only thing the police can be sure of, is that the men have drowned.Rumours abound that a mythical serial killer has turned his attention from the Manchester canal to the waterways of Mid-Wales. And now one of CID's own is missing. A brand new recruit with everything to live for. DI Giles must find him before it's too late.

This is the return of DI Giles and her team in Newtown, mid Wales. The story starts with an investigation into a hit and run near a school. However, when two bodies are recovered from the river in a short space of time, the DI thinks something suspicious is going on. Is there a serial killer in Newtown?

I really enjoy books by this author. Crime books generally can be a bit heavy and complex with an over reliance on forensics. In Ms Morgan's books there is more of a reliance on 'old fashioned policing', looking for clues and using experience to get that 'gut feeling' about what is going on. In this story, forensics are frustrated by the water so the whole story rests on hard work and investigation. I also like how there is enough focus on the characters to understand their relationships and importance to each other, but the focus is on the investigation.

This author uses a title for each chapter which acts as a preview. This makes for a real page turner! I think this is one of my favourites from this author and would recommend it to others.

The pusher

Another brake speed book ,the twists and turns keep you on your toes .The writer has you invested in the two or three potential bad guys and you don't see it until near the end which is good as knowledge of the killer in the middle of a book is near good. The relationships are developed and growing into stead fast ones but i wish her and her boss would stop beating around the bush and kiss .
