Tom whirled round. Rising out of the sea were six enormous snake heads.
"Narga!" Elenna gasped.

Adam Blade

Adam Blade is in his late twenties, and was born in Kent, England. His parents were both history teachers and amateur artists, and Adam grew up surrounded by his father’s paintings of historic English battles – which left a lifelong mark on his imagination. He was also fascinated by the ancient sword and shield that hung in his father’s office. Adam’s father said they were a Blade family heirloom.
As a boy, Adam would spend days imagining who could have first owned the sword and shield. Eventually, he created a character – Tom, the bravest boy warrior of them all. The idea for Beast Quest was born.
When Adam grew up and decided that he wanted to be a writer, he was stuck for ideas – until he remembered the old sword and shield, and the imaginary boy he had created when he was young. Adam decided to bring Tom fully to life so that readers could go on the kind of adventures that he always wanted to when he was that age… And still does, even though he’s grown up!
When he’s not writing Beast Quest books, Adam enjoys visiting museums and ancient battle sites. His main hobbies are fencing and football. He also spends a lot of time at home running around after his two exotic pets – a tarantula named Ziggy, and a capuchin monkey named Omar. These little rascals were the inspiration for two of the Beasts that Tom faces on his Quest – Arachnid and Claw.
Sadly, Adam does not have his own Fire-Dragon or Horse-Man. But he really wishes he did!

this book was fantastic, i loved it was my favorite beast quest book it reminded me of mine craft for some weird reason.

Честно казано, литературната стойност на книжките от тази поредица е доста съмнителна, тъй като всички те се пишат по схема, която се спазва строго. От друга страна, приятно изкараните минути с тях са гарантирани, тъй като има много битки и приключения, във всяко томче се запознаваме с ново могъщо чудовище, а Том и Елена са симпатични герои, много различни от свадливия архетип, наложен през последните години. “Морското чудовище Нарга” не прави изключение...

I didn't like this book because I don't like going into black oceans. Tom had to travel into the black ocean to find Narga. Tom defeated Narga by throwing his sword. His sword cut through all 6 necks. Narga dropped a jewel that made Tom have really good memory.

My oldest son loves these books, hes loved them for quite some time, and wants to read all 8f them even if they dont take long for him to complete.

Tom and Elenna are in the rather unpleasant realm of Gorgonia, homeland of Malvel the evil wizard. Malvel has abducted the good beasts of Avantia and brought them to Gorgonia where each one is guarded by an evil beast.
So this particular installment has Tom and Elenna trying to rescue the good sea serpent Sepron from the clutches of the six-headed sea monster Narga.
Unfortunately about three chapters of this are devoted to a subplot where Elenna is put through the full-on damsel-in-distress trope, complete with a bunch of sexist cliches that just serve to further the bad treatment that the character often receives in the series.
She has some better moments in the climactic battle and the lead-up to that where she gets to show off some skills that Tom is lacking in. And I liked the new ally, Odora, who is introduced, even if she does some out of the same tired kidnapping trope that Elenna gets subjected to.
The sea monster battle itself is silly fun, but is over somewhat quickly. It had been a while since my son and I had read from this series, and he did enjoy the nostalgia value of it.

Great read! Tom and Elenna’s adventures through the Dark Realm is kind of intimidating with the evil wizard lingering so close. My favorite parts were when the bandits caught the characters, and when Storm was sinking into quicksand. When that was happening, I was afraid Storm would end up dead like ANOTHER HORSE DIES THAT WAY IN A DIFFERENT STORY. (Can you guess which movie that is?) But Storm didn't, so I was happy.
I highly recommend this series to kids.
