Karla Harper is a wild card, believing romance only serves one purpose, to get her ahead in life. She's not all caught up in flowers and pretty language. She wants to get in, have her fun, and get out. Mitch Greenway loves to be in control and wants to set Karla free by giving her the safety net she doesn't know she needs, as well as the relationship she swears she doesn't desire. He craves the wildness she possesses, wanting to share in it and explore it together without judgment. She refuses to be tamed, while he's determined to do just that. Could there be two people whose tastes in adventure blends so perfectly that they complement each other, but even more so, takes it to the hottest level? Mitch is determined to find out. That is, if he can get Karla to sit still long enough.
I live in sunny Florida where I spend my days taxiing the family to various places while jotting down the many crazy thoughts inside my head. I enjoy a freelance career writing for several magazines sharing some of my interesting viewpoints on life and those around me. I can usually be found on my back porch watching the squirrels chittering at the birds while enjoying a cigar, a scotch, and the many characters that talk to me inside my head.
Every book I read from Robbie has a different feel and a different voice. To me, that is very impressive. None of his series, read the same. I'm drawn to his books because of his characters. The main character was so well written, she became more like a real person and not just a flat character from a book. That means a lot to me as a reader. I get tired of reading stories with non-developed stories. It gets boring. In the beginning, I didn't like Karla. I really wanted to either smack her or shake some sense into her. It's not because of her lifestyle choice it's because she was too hung-up in the past. This was a simple story with a strong underlying life message. Yet, at no time did I feel like the author "preached" his beliefs. All of these characters were just regular people trying to figure out what the believe and where they fit in this world. I need to add that this is book two of this series.
I forgot it was a sequel and I did not read book one. I really do not feel like I missed anything by not reading book one first.
This is one of those books you need to keep Kleenex in one hand and a fire extinguisher in another to put out the flames on your Kindle cause the story is so hot.
Reading thru this story you start feeling all the struggles that she is going thru. You can feel her emotions that she goes thru with Mitch and the other men in her life.
You follow the path that Karla travels to finding the new her. Can she except that Mitch is not like all those other men she uses and throws away or will she possibly lose the best male she could have ever had because she couldn't over come her fears.
Join me for this rollercoaster ride, full of lots of loops and twists and turns.
I have to say that this story is quite entertaining! Sexy, stubborn, arrogant Karla is a hoot! She comes off as a spoiled brat insisting everything must of her way or no way. She is really a vulnerable young woman tired of being hurt and therefore has built some pretty impressive personal walls around her feelings and heart.
Mitch believes he’s the man that can breach those impressive walls and make Karla see the errors in her thinking and one-sided relationship ways. Mitch is cut from the same cloth when it comes to no strings relationships.
I love how these two dance around each other’s dominance and difficulty in letting one or the other lead the relationship. I enjoyed the journey of these two navigating the touchy topic of control while they were both turned on by the different approach of this new aspect of their revealing relationship. Mitch thinking he has Karla figured out and Karla thinking Mitch is playing the same old game gives this story an interesting twist. I don’t want to include any spoilers but there are definitely some unexpected surprises including family members with their own drama.
A hot, sexy story for sure, full of emotional twists and turns and creating numerous moments of self-revelations for all involved. Again, a great story!
Karla Harper had met Mitch Greenway when, with her usual manipulation of men, she had gotten one of her dates to help get her sister’s car fixed. He had sent Aimee to his friend Mitch who ran his own shop, was very good at his job, and would give them a discount. Karla had always used her body to get everything she wanted starting back in middle school, so she was quite adept now. She was very jaded about romance, seeing it as serving only to get her ahead in life. She's not a flowers-and-compliments kind of girl. She likes to “use ‘em and lose ‘em”.
Fortunately for Karla, Mitch Greenway loves to be in control and he wants to set Karla free from her demons and give her a stable relationship for once. He loves the wildness in her spirit, but he wants to be part of it, sharing and exploring it together without judgment. With Karla resisting all the way, can Mitch out-last her stubbornness? Will he be able to tame the wild beast inside and surprise her with the sweetheart she really is?
The story line of Book 1 was good, and this one is likewise good (although I don’t enjoy references to spanking and such – definitely not romantic imagery for me). Anyway, well-written and quick-paced with some funny conversations included to lighten things up. I think this author will become a real favorite for many. Grab your copy and see if you have joined that list!
Received an arc for an honest review and I wasn't disappointed. I was skeptical of Karla in the beginning because of the first book. She felt like a heartless character and I couldn't stand the way she treated people and the worst of it was because of someone or a few people even, treated her bad and in her mind, it justified her behavior toward everyone else. The breaking point for me was how she treated her sister of all the people in the first book.
Starting this book was great and as an added bonus we get to meet Mitch and hear he side of the story. I feel like I could really relate to Mitch and he reminds me a lot of me. It is always great to find a character in a book that you can relate to; it connects you more to the story. I liked finding out about Karla and watching her life turn around faster than she was ready for and that made for great conflict. The ending was just perfect and I can hardly wait for Aimee's story to come out!
TAMING KARLA is the second book in the Harper Twins series. This series does need to be read in the order of release.
I really didn’t like Karla throughout Sibling Rivalry and I still didn’t like her through most of Taming Karla. She’s too selfish. No, she’s not in society’s box. She’s unique. She loves thoroughly. Sometimes for an hour; sometimes for a lifetime. Her love for her family is definitely for a lifetime. Her love for Mitch will be for a lifetime once she realizes that she sees all of her and accepts her for who she is. Trust is a huge issue for her. I understand that in ways that I won’t divulge to anyone. When the trust is finally realized I could feel the weight of her world loosening. That is a huge moment. Though the book is called Taming Karla, she isn’t really being tamed. It may be the best analogy to the eyes of society, but in my humble opinion, she is being Freed.
No, I didn’t like Karla for most of two books, but Mitch made me love both of them. Now, I want the third book to find out how well they can kick booty and free Aimee and Clint to get to their happily-ever-after.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
Title: TAMING KARLA Series: Harper Twins #2 Category /Genre: Contemporary Romance, BDSM Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content Grammar/editing: A – near perfect Received from: Robbie Cox (as an ARC gifted copy)
I adored this character from the first book. I love her even more now.
Karla has always been the "wild child" of the Harper Twins (her sister does not let her forget this). With the help of Mitch Greenway she's going to learn (even if he has to spank it out of her) that she isn't all bad, that she can do "relationships" and that no matter how bad she wants to be, Mitch can put up with it.
We also get more of the story of Aimee & Clint, and how they are faring with Clints divorce, and their blossoming relationship.
I love that the author really gave us the romance we wanted for Karla, gave us the strength we needed in Mitch to see this coupling through, and gave us his signature snark & sexy. This is a story I could go back to again, and again.
This maybe my favorite Robbie Cox Story yet! In Sibling Rivalry , we were introduced to the very believable look at the life of twins. Their likes and dislikes about each other, their relationship tug of war with each other and the men in their lives. The storyline was very interesting and very hot!!! Now in book #2 of this series, Taming Karla, Robbie has opened up Karla’s story and lead the readers and Karla on a journey of self discovery. My favorite scene is a shower scene where Mitch leads Karla through a total mind opening, mind altering metaphorical washing away of her past so that she can focus on the here and now and the future. Best scene EVER!!!!! I cannot wait. To see what mr Cox has in store for Aimee in the final installment of this series.
I loved this book! I did not put it down and when I was on the last page,I kept trying to scroll to the next page, not ready for it to end. Karla is a wild one. She has her rules and her views on men and what she can get from them. She doesn't do relationships. Insead she enjoys sex, being on display and men (or women) wanting her, desiring her. Mitch believes he can tame Karla. Why? Well he is just like her and wants to prove that he can keep her safe. I love how this is NOT the typical romance story, it has spice, doesn't fit inside the box, and oh an ending that was just wow!
Taming Karla is book 2 of the Harper Twins series. I was intrigued with Karla in Sibling Rivalry (book 1) and wanted to learn more about her past (and her love for bacon). Robbie did not disappoint with her story. He did a great job on fleshing out the details of why Karla is where she is at in her life right now and why Mitch is the perfect match for her. However, her stubbornness leaves you wondering if she will be able to commit into a relationship. The ending was a "lift of the eyebrow" one - did not see that coming!
Wow. Karla Harper...the title is right in attempting to tame her. How in the world could Mitch begin to do that with how wild she is? And yet, he is just as wild and exciting. They are a great match and I love how twisted it gets with both of their emotions. Even Karla's best friend gets thrown into the mix and jeez - it's all hot! I love how the characters are relatable and real. Their emotions and depth are great - wonderful job on this story and can't wait for the next one!
Robbie Cox's Taming Karla had me up at 2am wanting to finish the book!! Robbie writes very strong and stubborn characters. This book will have you want bacon. You must read it to know why... LOL. Robbie writes Independent and promiscuous characters. This is a 5 star read and I recommend this book. I am already have book 1 Sibling Rivalry on my TBR list. In the beginning of Taming Karla the sisters have a rivalry that takes on sibling rivalry to a whole new level!!
A great spinoff to Sibling Rivalry. It was so fun watching the tables turn on Karla as she never expecting anything like she got. She's spoiled, selfish and full of herself but so loveable also. Again lots of sex and great writing. Great job Robbie. I thin I have really found a romance author I can read. Excellent read
I was given a copy of the book for an honest review with no expectations.
This was a well written book with well developed characters and easy flowing storyline. At times it was hotter than hot had to drink ice water to cool things down. Both parties are into each other but Karla has a hard time believing Mitch will stay for the long haul. It has a very hot ending.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
OMG Karla, what a way she was. I never figured she would be one that would love being told what to do. I can not believe how the book ended and how she acted! I never seen the ending coming the way I did. I am so glad I kept reading and got to know Karla!
Karla was self-centered, egotistical, hedonistic, and out of control. Mitch wanted to give her both freedom and control. Interesting story with some very vivid character portrayals. This was an excellent but kinky read!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I'm definitely more of an Aimee fan than Karla, but I do think her story played out very true to character. I preferred the first book, but this was a decent follow up for fans of Karla.
