The Wolf Ring

by Doug Campbell

A teenaged girl, Tala, finds an old ring that allows her and her friends, Jackie, Reuben and Jim, to slip back and forwards in time from the present day to the American state of Montana in 1850. To their amazement, the journey back transforms them into wolves. The girl later learns from her grandmother that she is not the only one in her family to have experienced this in the past. Granny tells of the strange family history of the ring that has been lost for many years. On their visits to the prairies as wolves the friends uncover a hidden cache of gold coins but unknown to them a teacher at their school discovers their secret, kidnaps one of the girls and steals the ring in order to help himself to the gold. Her friends have somehow to follow the teacher and rescue their friend but have no idea how to do this without the ring. Events bring to the fore personal qualities of leadership that the girl was unaware she possessed.
