Sent west by their father to make a new life, the St. Clair siblings have done so—but hardly as he’d wished. Beautiful, headstrong Moira, after pursuing a career on the Paris stage, has returned to Colorado Springs—older, wiser, and certainly much poorer—to see if there’s anything left of a relationship she’d left behind. Older sister Odessa and her husband, Bryce, are struggling to rebuild their ranch after a devastating winter. And then Nic, the prodigal son, turns up—broken, haunted, and sick about leaving his sisters. At last the family is reunited. But Dominic is still at loose ends, seeking a peace that has always eluded him. Only as he mines an old claim deep in the Rocky Mountains and begins a romance with a local schoolteacher does he begin to understand how passionately he is loved—by God, his family, and a good woman. But even as he relinquishes his fury, Nic discovers there is one last battle to fight…

A great ending to a wonderful historical series! I really enjoyed reading about the St. Clair siblings and am kind of sad to say goodbye. I liked how again this book was about all three of them and not just Nic. I also enjoyed the mining aspect.
The individual romance stories were all sweet and the ending brought a smile to my face. A satisfying conclusion and I definitely recommend this series!

Claim wraps up the Homeward Trilogy series. The author did a great job of tying up all of the loose ends and ensuring that all three St. Clair siblings have full and satisfying stories.
Moira’s story line continues from book two, while Dominic’s story definitely takes over as the primary focus of book three. I really enjoyed watching where Moira’s search for love and understanding took her. Wow! That was a very powerful part of the book.
I also enjoyed Dominic’s story and how everything played out for him. He definitely grew emotionally and spiritually throughout each of these books. The man from book one is quite changed by the end of book three.
I really enjoyed all three of these books from the Homeward Trilogy. Each book has romance, danger, adventure, and spiritual growth for the characters.
I won this book in a giveaway. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I devoured this one and so enjoyed finally getting a satisfactory life for all three siblings. I loved Lisa's exciting style of writing and her descriptions of both people and places. Adjectives for this book: adventure, panic, excitement, love, priorities, . I loved it and will read much more of Lisa's writing.
Nice closing to the series. I liked how Bergren devoted most of this novel to Dominic. The St. Clair sisters took a back seat, but they were still in the picture, which I liked. I think I liked this one the best out of the 3 in the series.
This book was a satisfying conclusion to the series. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Please check out my blog for further review on this book and many more! http://faithlovebooks.blogspot.com/20...
"Claim" is a Christian suspense/romance set in Colorado in 1888. The story follows all three St. Clair siblings, though mainly Nic and Moira. It's the third in the series, and I'd probably have understood the story better if I'd read them all. Moira's actions often didn't make sense to me, like she's certain that someone's following her with the intent to do harm when, to me, the note sounded like a fan being considerate about approaching her. Also, after pretending to be married when she got pregnant, why was she so determined not to claim widowhood for the sake of the child?
Anyway, Moira's got some burns on her face and neck, which make her feel undesirable. The man courting her leaves her to become a sheriff in hopes of finding his wife's killer. After both make some poor choices, he comes to her rescue and all is well, though there were so many loose ends left about their future.
Nic has a bad temper: when he's angry, he impulsively attacks and has to be pulled off his opponent. He ends up in possession of a gold mine, which he works for the sake of an orphan boy, but others will kill to get it. He also falls in love with a widow woman who had an abusive marriage to a man with a bad temper. Only, somehow, she knows he would never hurt her because he's a good man...even though I'm seriously not sure he won't and then regret it.
I had trouble following the descriptions of the mine and how close various towns were. It seemed like distances changed every time they were mentioned as did the exact layout of the mine and surrounding area. The author kept switching back and forth between two seconds of suspenseful action at the mine to two seconds of not really suspenseful action with Moira, making everything feel choppy and confusing instead of increasing my suspense. I also felt like everything was too neatly and quickly wrapped up. There was no sex or bad language.
Claim is one wild ride. Bergren doesn't pull any of her punches, and this book is no exception. Highway murders, claim jumpers, cave ins, shoot outs, holding people against their will, nefarious schemes, and so much more makes this book move at a mile a minute. There were so many well-designed scenes where the characters were in peril for a long period of time making the action and suspense deliciously drawn out. It was exciting, intriguing, romantic, and joyful, definitely not as much of a downer as the second book in the series. There was a lot of interest added with the mining adventures, which is not something that we had seen before. Of course it was Moira, who in dramatic fashion, had to spread her story out to the very end. But everything ended well making a bright and wonderful future for each of the St. Clair siblings. The ending was a happy one. I would have liked a little more at the end, maybe a five year glimpse into the future to see how all of their settled lives were coming together. But for the most part, I cannot complain, as I very much enjoyed the conclusion of this fast-paced, Western series.
This third and final book in Lisa Tawn Bergren's The Homeward Triology, takes us along Dominic St. Clair's life path. Here we get to see how he has grown and matured as he comes to terms with the decisions he has made in his life. Dominic's path is one with many twists and turns. I particularly liked the way Ms. Bergren continued peeling the multi layers in her protagonist's life. I also liked the way she continued tying up the loose ends in the lives of his two sisters. She weaves all of these together as she brings this trilogy to an end. I felt a little robbed by the abrupt ending. I would not say it is a cliff hanger, but it does leave the reader hypothesizing what comes next for this trio.
This is the second series I have completed by this author, and she is definitely becoming one of my favorites. I found this to be a satisfying ending to a series that I really didn't expect to enjoy because of its western gold-mining setting. This third volume again features all three of the St. Clair siblings, but gives more of a resolution to the stories of Moira and Dominic. Throughout the series, the three grown children are reminded of the teachings they received from their parents who are no longer alive, and those words that they remember come back to guide them to make better decisions.
Claim: A Novel of Colorado (The Homeward Trilogy Book 4 )
A life story set in the wild western state of Colorado during the 1880's. Sheriff Daniel finds 💘 with a former opera singer named Moira. And her brother, Dominick (Nic) St. Clair travels the world only to come home to find 💘 with Seline and young Everette. Their older sister, Odessa (Dess), stays on the ranch with her husband Bryce and 🚼 Samuel.
A really great wrap-up to this wonderful series - three young people in Colorado's early days, trying to figure out what to do, where to go, and whom to love. So thankful I was able to read these in order, as it gave the characters more substance and a history. Highly recommended. (Not just love stories - travel, history, music, cowboys and Indians, guns and arrows, good and evil. It's all found in these books.)
considering that I wasn't able to read the previous two books of this teilogy, I was able to completely understand the backstory. it was a very easy book to read and very true to life as well. We all find God and love in different places.
Great book Lisa! I loved this series! The title is a great play on words. I kept thinking it was for the gold claim , but now I know different! The three siblings all went through so much, but their faith kept them going.
Two couples that hold unto the past and can’t move forward until they let go of that past hurt and pain. It takes love and terrible circumstances to show the way to the future.
The author draw you the challenges faced by separated member of a family. How they turn their heart's back to God and submit to His will. When this is done doors are opened to a fresh future and the past is closed and forgiven but not forgotten.
Great story! I really loved the characters. In all honesty I have to confess that it's not the type of book I normally read because of the Christian slant and point of view. Without the God things getting in the way I probably would have given it a five star rating.
My only regret is I haven't read the first 2!! It was a very nice journey with Nic and Moira. It was a very good reminder that God still love us even when we make wrong decisions and don't like ourselves. Thank you Ms Bergren
Thank you Lisa T Bergren for a riveting trilogy. Loved every minute of each book. When I reached the Epilogue of Book 3 I let out a huge sigh, knowing I had come to the end. On the search now for more of Lisa’s books.
This part of the trilogy ends with the older brother Dominic and I have to say his story takes the cake. All three siblings ended up having pretty bad luck in the begining of their triles but end up beating the odds.
I have enjoyed the westerns that this author writes. The story once you read it you will not want at all to set it down for very long. You just can't wait to see what happens. Lisa hit a home run with this!
Final book of the series...I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sabine was an unexpected character and I loved how the author portrayed her. Also loved the endings given for all the main characters. It was better than I expected.
This book was an excellent story about God's amazing grace, love and guidance in the lives of the people that went through normal, everyday situations.
