Armageddon is coming, but we created it.
We sent the Aswang Invaders 30 years ago when an alien race destroyed Earth's first colonies but it was never supposed to be able to return from their home world. Now the Aswang are back, working to destroy Earth in their insidious style. Adam Ritter's team must find the courage to risk their lives to stop this robotic menace that was designed to be invincible. Racing against time and opposition they step up and face mankind's most destructive weapon ever created. A technothriller that is alternately humorous, surprising, and terrifying while poking fun at pop culture and classic science fiction from the 1960's.

Not Your Usual Bugout

Aswang Invaders by Andy Tuthill, is the tale of what happens when a weapon created on Earth to battle far-flung alien foes boomerangs back to menace Earth. Due to either a lack of foresight or just plain arrogance, the Earth creators didn’t incorporate an off switch in their design. Add in an AI computer, with an attitude that would make Genghis Khan cringe, controlling the Aswang and you have the recipe for total annihilation of all Earth inhabitants.

Based upon the Aswang design, principles of destruction and satellite confirmation from the alien world, there is no question the Aswang are efficient at their chores. Now, decades after their deployment, a new generation of Earth scientists must find a way, hopefully, of defeating the undefeatable.

The story is novella in length and Andy Tuthill has chosen a writing technique that leaves the reader to conjure the scenes in the book according to their own thoughts. He doesn’t direct every nuance of the story to wedge total scene creation into the reader. Instead, Aswang Invaders is written in such a way as to let the reader’s imagination fill in a lot of blanks. The action picks up after the first 10 pages and never stops. There is no fluff. There is no endless dialogue. Everything about the Aswang Invaders is on point.

I liked the story, and the writing technique is one of my favorites. If you want a quick read that keeps you on the edge of your seat 90% of the time, then Aswang Invaders is an excellent choice. The story ends with a cliff-hanger screaming for a sequel. I will definitely want to read the sequel.

I rate the book, Aswang Invaders, as an overall 5 out of 5.
