Vampire Guardians #2

To Love a Vampire

Rate this book
Kayla backed up for every step he advanced. Her heart pounded painfully against her chest. She swore she saw flames flickering behind the vibrant colors in his eyes. She had never felt so afraid, so...alive? When she realized she couldn't escape him, she stood her ground, lifting her head defiantly in challenge. Tray didn't move, standing over her like a warlord about to pass judgment. He had read her thoughts as if she had shouted them at him. He looked over the perfection of her body, missing nothing, not one line, not one curve, not one freckle. He then stared into her eyes till she met and held his gaze. He saw many emotions in their blue depths; there it was, fear. Good, she should be afraid of him.

Authors - please do everyone a favor when introducing a foreign language into the dialogue and do NOT rely on Bing Translator. Take the time and find a native speaker because I guarantee you will get it wrong. That is exactly what has happened in Book #2 and the author's faulty use of German. It's embarrassingly bad and frankly ruined the book for this 'German as a second language' speaker. It was so obvious what the author did that when I highlighted the word in my Kindle, app sure enough Bing translated it to mean 'love' but without the context it was so so wrong. In German, nouns and names are always capitalized. The endearment of 'Love' is 'Liebes' or 'Liebschen'. 'You belong to me' is 'Du gehörst mir'. Forget Bing. Authors, just take some time to call the nearest university and look into translation services. Heck, ask one of the many GoodReads Forums that exist to help authors! These language mistakes as well as all of the other editorial mistakes littered throughout the story made this a 'Night and Day' experience between Book #1 and #2.

I still love the humor and sarcasm as demonstrated again by Dare winning the women over at the expense of their men/vampires. That's too too funny! There was a huge opportunity lost, though, by not letting Kayla find out that Felicity was Zak's vampire 'fun-buddy' for centuries....sorry, in any world fiction, paranormal or not, there would be serious drama around that bit of knowledge with deep emotions to be explored.

I loved Book #1, but Book #2 was a jumble of ideas filled with editorial and language mistakes totally unprofessional and disappointing.

Disappointed

After reading the first book, i crossed my fingers I wouldn't read ((gawd)) again! In book two....unfortunately this author has all the female leads speaking like nimrods ...I cringed every time I read it....then add in the fact she still has Jamie (the. Heroine )from book one a little robotic stepford vamp in this one & I just couldn't stand it, I made it half way through & bailed on the book.....the series has tons of potential but Not unless she changes a few things...the heroine has to have some back bone, not throw tantrums & call it good...the patronizing chuckles of the men just made me irate after while...I began to feel sorry for the twits. Make your heroines grow & dump the high school slang...it makes them sound simple & lacking substance....sorry if this comes across as mean, but I truly was saddened by the fact I couldn't even finish book 2 :(

Painful to read

Bad porn, bad grammar, zero effort. This author says she lives in Washington state? Has she ever been to the places she writes about? Union Ave in Tacoma doesn’t have a cemetery, Tacoma has no Westin or Brookside restaurant. Tacoma has many great parks, too bad the park she refers to is in Bellevue.
Mary Bridges Children’s Hospital would have been an excellent choice- I used to drive my little one there 2 hours from our hometown to go there. I know many others who did the same. Instead something was made up.
Tacoma Cemetery would have been a great place for Zak to sleep had she done any sight seeing or research. It’s old AF, beautiful & Tacoma’s founding fathers are buried there.
You can’t just pass thru a town on your way to go glamping & call it “research”.
There’s also very little description beyond just sex.
When Zak meets Kayla she’s in a Hoodie & Jeans. Normal WA state attire, then it’s soooo HOT in her apartment & she needs a cold shower . She of course is touching herself, then opens a window.
What month is it lady? There’s only 2 months that are hot in WA State! July & August. Kayla walks everywhere- she’s never cold or hot when she’s walking.
Save yourself the brain bleed & don’t attempt to read these.
I tried the first one- it was as bad as this.
I like to at least try 2 books before leaving a bad review.
I skimmed a third and nearly threw my kindle out the window.

This installment was a huge improvement over the first book in The Guardians series. It entails a story of vampires who are guardians cleansing the human race of evil. They serve justice to pedophiles, drug dealers, and murderers. There are still many typo's and grammatical errors through out the series but in the author's defense they are offered free on her website and she edits them herself so i can't complain. In each book the guardian that is the main character find's a love interest. In this book Tray meets a human girl who has a healing touch. It's a better story than the first but the couple Aeric and Jamie make cameo appearances in this book as well. The beginning was still a bit awkward and the ending was over the top but it was still a good story. I liked Tray a lot more than Aeric. It's a nice touch that all the vamps in this book can read minds and they can mark a person so they can find them no matter where they are. I would have liked to see the maker have more of a connection with Jamie but makers just serve the purpose of changing the vampires and that is it. Can't wait to read the next book in the series and see how this series ends.

SIMPLY ENTRANCING ,ENGAGING AND ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE FOR EVERYONE!

JODY OFFEN continues to bring her A game with this wonderfully written series. The beauty of capturing such emotion in the characters that'll draw your attention to their struggles, present and past lives, sensuality and snarky funny dialogues, dangerous scary situations where evilness gets deserving punishment as the two main characters wade through it to get a chance for togetherness forever. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND IT, TOTALLY RIVETING STORYLINE AND IMMENSELY ENJOYABLE CHARACTERS. SO I'M OFF TO READ THE NEXT ONE IN THIS SERIES,I CAN'T WAIT TO READ MORE ABOUT THIS SERIES CHARACTERS!!

Kayla and Zak !

Vampire finds his soulmate Kayla trying to kill his mark . As a vampire guardian assassin , Zak kills evil doers for last crimes and those they are about to commit . Kayla is trying to kill her father's murderer and Zak intervenes so she want become a killer . They fall in love despite the obstacles . Kayla finds she can heal with a touch certain people after a blood exchange with Zak . I loved the storyline and can't wait to read the next book in the series . It's sad that the author passed away from Lou Gehrigs disease . She had great potential as a writer . Thank you Jody Offen ! Rest in Peace !

Everything I expected

Loved reading this one. I could not stop reading until I finished. The only reason this isn't a 5 is because it needs editing. We met Zak in book 1 and it left us wanting more. I thought Aerik was the perfect vampire, but I was wrong. Zak captivated me far more than Aerik. And Kayla was the perfect match for the bad ass vampire. I was sad to see the story end :(. I also wonder the point of Claudia and the baby. It felt like there would be more, but it didn't take away from the story. It's a must read.

Love those Vampires..

I loved this story! This author did a great job on the main characters! Kayla is one sassy woman and Zak is a hot sexy vampire. From what Dare has said about him and the way he was him Kayla belong together. These are Guardian Vampires, they protect the good and kill the bad. He really has his hands full with his soul mate! But it's a HEA!

Oh my Gawd!!! LOL!

I totally loved this book and would have given it a 5 star rating BUT the use of "Gawd" was completely overused. No......not my only reasoning. This could use a little editing but overall a great story. I was not overly excited about the mind control but overall a good read!!! Can't wait to read the next one!!!

Another great book. I love that Zak came next and I found it so funny that his mate was nothing like him or ow he thought a lady should be. Kayla has a mouth on her and is not afraid to speak her mind and tell Zak off. These two, I laughed a lot reading this story and simply could not put it down. I could not wait to read Dare's story.

Yay finished this book super fast.

Love love love. Tray and Kayla and they're journey to really be with each other. Although it was kinda more like a seduction on Tray's part. But either way it was so good. I couldn't put it down, and now I really want to read the third one!
