MP3 CD Format He's dedicated his life to saving missing persons, but will it be enough to save himself?
Alex Mercer traded in his troubled past to protect the powerless. His blog for tracking down missing persons got his foot in the door at the police academy. But on his first day of training, a heroic act drops him into the hands of the captors he once hunted.
Zoey planned to tell Alex how she felt the night he disappeared. As she and Alex's family discover the bloody signs of his fate, past regrets and dark secrets begin to come to light. It's enough to tear Alex's loved ones apart.
Without hope of rescue, Alex must rely on his cunning to escape captivity. In his line of work, he knows all too well that each passing hour could kill his chances of survival . . .
Stacy Claflin writes about complex women overcoming incredible odds. Whether it's her Gone trilogy of psychological thrillers, her ongoing Transformed paranormal saga, or her Seaside Hunters sweet romance series, Stacy's three-dimensional heroines shine through.
Decades after she wrote her first stories on construction paper and years after typing on an inherited green screen computer that weighed half a ton, Stacy realized her dream of becoming a full-time author.
When she's not busy writing or educating her kids from home, Stacy enjoys watching TV shows like Supernatural, Pretty Little Liars, and Once Upon a Time.
This is the third book in the series. And I couldn't put it down.
Alex Mercer is finally putting his troubled past behind him. Through his life experiences and his growing blog for tracking down missing persons, Alex has been successful in getting into the police academy. But on his first day at the academy, he stops to help at a car accident and disappears without a trace. Will his family understand that he hasn't fallen back into his old ways?
Without hope of rescue, Alex must rely on his cunning to escape captivity. In his line of work, he knows all too well that each passing hour could kill his chances of survival…
This was just as suspenseful as the previous in the series however, I am getting annoyed at Zoey. She's not a character that I can warm to. She's meant to be 27/28 years old but she comes across more like a teenager. Whilst her parents have custody of her daughter, she doesn't seem to play a very motherly role. And she's never attempted to take back custody of Ariana and let her parents be grandparents. That doesn't feel real to me.
I also struggled with some of the narrative- Alex's kidnapper wanted to kill as many police as possible but then told the police captain to come alone? Didn't make sense to me. And the 'little lies' seemed secondary to the story with very little to no impact. I can't help but feel sorry for the whole family. They don't appear to have much luck. But still a story full of suspense.
Girl In Trouble #1 - What a Thriller! A well written thriller, with believable characters, that grabs you and doesn't let go until you finish the book. The 11-year-old girl is amazing in her handling of the horrible situation. I contacted the author to do reviews and she graciously sent me this book. No vulgar language or sex. 5*
Turn Back Time #2 - Another thrilling book. A well written thriller that takes place six months after A Girl In Trouble ends. More heartache is in store for the family in this well written book with its well thought out plot and interesting, believable characters. While TBT can be read by itself, the book AGIT should be read first. This is one of many books I have read by the author and she written many 5 star books; she doesn't disappoint the reader. 5*
Little Lies #3 - A well written, suspense filled, action packed novel filled with the characters from the Gone Saga, set ten years later. The well though out plot, along with the developed characters and their realistic dialog, immerses the reader in the story. Ms. Claflin doesn't disappoint the reader with this book. 5*
Against All Odds #4 - More woes for Alex and family and friends in a fast paced, intriguing suspense. Our favorite characters are still their interesting, evolving selves; the dialog is still realistic and intelligent; and the well thought out plot keeps the reader immersed in the story. Ms. Claflin doesn't disappoint with her well written Alex Mercer series, which gives the best enjoyment by reading sequentially. No vulgar language or sex. I contacted the author to review her books. 5*
I am so hooked on this series by Stacy Claflin. I started with the Gone Series and have continued with The Alex Mercer Thriller Series. The characters are carried over from series to series but each book is an entire story. You can pick these up in any order and enjoy them.
There were a few times in this book I thought Oh My Gosh…how much more can one family go through. And then the characters voice this same thought. I liked how this family and their extended family stick together, come together in times of trouble, and have each other’s backs no matter what. There was never a doubt that in this situation they would still stick together, still protect each other, and still never give up hope for a happy ending.
I will forever be a Zoey and Alex fan and am thrilled with how this story was theirs. I love how it came together, how their relationship was portrayed, and how the ending was written. This is a perfect addition to their story and I am excited to keep reading more about their families.
This is the 3rd book in the Alex Mercer series and I couldn't put it down. How much more tragedy can one family take? Halloween is turning into more of a curse than the favorite holiday that Ari likes so much. Nick's daughter Hanna and Ari are perfect as friends. Their innocence is realistic, but you can clearly tell that Ari is coming into her own. She is part innocence, part sass and just a likeable young girl.
*Spoiler* You've been warned......
What's happening to the cadets on their way to the academy? Each of the cadets (4 that we know of including Alex) never make it to the academy. Alex stops to help a young girl that he thought was in a horrific accident only to find out later that it was staged. Why would anyone stage an accident? Each page will bring you closer to the truth and you will be on the edge of your seat until the last page is turned. Do we get a happy ending or does the unthinkable happen to Alex and to Capt Nick? Snuggle down and enjoy the latest in the series.
It's kind of funny that one of the characters in the story said just what I was thinking, "How many bad things can happen to one family?" First it was Alex's sister, then daughter and now him. Are there no other families in town worth taking? This book was just a little off for me and I'm not just talking about the character Sage. There just wasn't much about it that made sense. If Sage wanted to eliminate cops, why was she kidnapping people in the academy? Why not just cops? Just too many strange things about this book. The title didn't even really play much of a part in the story. I'd like to say I'm learning more about the characters, but I'm just seeing them in the same scenario over and over.
Great mystery/thriller. The chapters kept me interested and anxious to read the next one. The intertwined lives of the characters added depth to the story. As I had not read the "Gone" series a couple of character references didn't mean too much but there was enough explanation that it did not distract from the story. In fact, they have made me interested in reading that series. I look forward to reading the next Alex Mercer book.
I received this book from he author to read and review. This is my own honest opinion. I would definitely recommend reading this book if you like a book that catches you by the seat of your pants and won't let you go until you are finished!
This book grabs your attention from the first page through the last page. It was so fast paced I couldn’t put t down. Zoey and Alex are the main characters trying to get a second chance, but then crazy steps in and tears their world apart. Alex is missing and his friend, chief of police Nick is doing everything he can to take care of his child and he’s not allowed to work the case because he is too close to it. Alex’s parents are thrown for a loop by his disappearance. Everyone is doing all they can to try to stay strong for the children involved.
Oh my you will love this fast paced thriller. I so can’t wait to read more! I didn't want the story to ever end.
I didn't know if I should have read this book without knowing the previous two but it wasn't a problem at all. Alex is on his way to the police academy when he gets abducted. His whole family is worried and hoping for h to come back home safe again. While Alex is held hostage by crazy Saige and her men, Alex's pregnant sister Macy has to stay at the hospital and his friend Nick, the police chief, deals with his ex, fighting for custody for his two kids not living with him. The people who took Alex are having a personal vendetta against Nick and are trying to kill him when he comes saving Alex.
All I can say is WOW! Stacy Claflin is a wonderful suspense writer.
Alex Mercer is heading to his first day at the Police Academy. He comes across an accident on the way, and things go downhill from there. Alex never makes it to class. Neither do several other cadets who wanted to be there.
Developed characters, lots of suspense, and a solid storyline.
Little Lies is the third book in the Alex Mercer series. It is a standalone book and can be read on it's own.
But, there is a timeline involved with the relationships so you can read them in order if you wish. book one is Girl in Trouble.
Oh, my stars! Suspense and increasing tension from the first chapter! Crazy captivating; I was glued to this from beginning to end. I found Zoey, Alex's longtime love and the mother of his tween daughter, a bit of a wilting flower, but I guess her weakness and hysteria were justified with Alex's disappearance. Truly well-written, weaving the fears and weaknesses of the central families into a superb thriller with a killer climax!:-)
I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Another book that I almost couldn´t put it down as I wanted to reach the end and get to know who were the bad guys. Alex, in trying to help people find their loved ones, joins the police academy and gets kidnapped on the first day at duty. The story mixes Alex´s personal life - he tries to make amends with his daughter and his ex partner and also with his family - and a string of crimes that are happening in the area. The plot has a lot of twists and turns and it´s a very enjoyable reading. I downloaded a free copy of this book from Amazon and this is my honest review.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I haven't read the previous books of the series but that doesn't leave you disadvantaged - as everything is quite well described. Im usually not that into Thrillers this magnitude but I definitely enjoyed reading Alex's abduction and how he fought to get out of it. I liked the different POV's as well - as you get a wider look of more that is to the story to be told....
Alex Mercer's blog for tracking down missing persons helped him get into the police academy. Unfortunately, it also led to his capture by those he once hunted. Alex must depend on himself, alone to escape. With hold-on-to-your-seat tension, deep characters, and is well written with a great plot, this is a book to read! Now I have to read books 1 and 2! I received a complimentary copy of this book and freely provide my honest review. Edit
I loved the conclusion to this series! Alex is heading to the academy and he gets captured. So much happens to him trying to get there.
He is planning to ask the love of his life to marry him. Their history between one another has been a roller coaster ride. They have a daughter together, Ari who loves them both dearly and wants them to get married.
I highly recommend this series ! You will not regret it.
Yet another amazing book by Stacy Claflin. Who would ever have expected Alex to go missing? Stacy did an unexpected turn by using a female antagonist to go after the police force. The ending is exactly what every Alex Mercer fan has been anticipating. Some little girls are very happy to find out what their future roles will be as the story proceeds. Have to go start the next book!
I really like this series, it's good yet relaxing. I would recommend this series to anyone. I love the characters in the books, and audible brings them to life. I don't tell what is in the books I read. That is for you to read and find out. However this book Alex goes missing. There is in cabin in the woods. Hope you enjoy the book as much as I have. Off to the next book in this series.
From the first chapter on I was captivated. Great build up to the crash site! Not too much describing of the surroundings, just enough to form an image and keep the tension of the story. Never a dull moment in Alex’s family & friends circle. Throw in a crazy person and you get a great story!
I received an advanced reader copy and this is my honest and voluntary review
I'm never ever disappointed with this author I've read all her book to date except the wolf series which is a spin off from transformed series but I'm reading them next. I can't wait to read more about the mercers and what other twist Stacy has in store for us
Like the characters, the action, and the process of solving the mysteries. But sure hope the whole series isn't just about missing people and/or taking people hostage. More than a tad unrealistic. For that reason this 3rd missing person story in a series of 3 so far gets only 3 ☆s.
I enjoy each book in the series even more than the one before. Dread for the series to end… the emotions of the characters are so relatable and realistic. Love series where the author leads you into the lives of each character to where you fully understand them and their point of view, and actions.
Once again Stacy u did it another adventure for Alex makes u feel like I can relate w him didn't want put the book down sad that I begging for more guess got wait to see what happens next until next time
I have been waiting for this book and wasn't disappointed. I was drawn in right from the very start and was kept glued to the pages until the very end.
It was good to see how much all of the characters have grown. Great level of mystery and suspense and great ending.
I received a free book and voluntarily chose to review it. I haven’t read the two previous books in this series, but I will. For anyone who loves thrillers you will be pleased with this book. It has enough action to keep you busy. It also has many problems for the other characters to deal with.
Another good read in the Alex Mercer thriller series. This was the 3rd in the series and will be ordering the 4th. Highly recommend as once you start you will definitely want to start reading the next book.
