He is determined to find out why Edmund Hoffman wanted to destroy him and those he loved. Why did he and his sister Gerturd plot their revenge, how did Louis Heilbroner’s family change there lives? This is a life that started with such promise with love and happiness but soon turned into hatred. Will Bernhard find the truth only to be struck down with heartache. This story will shape the reasons why Hoffman and Gerturd turned into little devils.
What a brilliant sequel, I really enjoyed reading P G R Wrights first book, this has not let me down, with it carrying on, with it being nice knowing how all of the characters ended, this book is a must read, do not bypass this book, please read it and enjoy it as much as I did.
The author has woven together a plot with much heart through the backdrop of World War Two. Following on from book 1 the story continues with Fabienne’s trials and triumphs
If you thought the first book in this series was good, prepare to be absolutely captivated by this phenomenal sequel. It's a rare achievement when a follow-up not only meets the high standard of its predecessor but surpasses it in every conceivable way. This novel is a masterpiece of tension, emotional depth, and relentless plotting that will leave you breathless! We are immediately plunged into a world of desperation as Bernhard finds himself on the run and on the edge. His singular, overriding obsession is to uncover the chilling truth about the disappearance of his beloved friend, Louis, and his daughter, Fabienne. The author masterfully uses Bernhard’s frantic search to peel back the layers of a dark conspiracy, compelling us to ask: Why did the enigmatic and vengeful Edmund Hoffman dedicate his life to destroying Bernhard and everyone he held dear? The narrative excels in illuminating the origins of this devastating hatred. The book promises to shape the very reasons why Hoffman and his sister, Gertrud, morphed from hopeful youths into the "little devils" they became. We are taken on a haunting journey that explores how a life that began with so much promise, love, and happiness, could tragically curdle into deep-seated, corrosive hatred. The revelation of how the Louis Heilbroner's family irrevocably changed the course of their lives is both shocking and deeply satisfying, offering a brilliant piece of the intricate puzzle.
Every page is fraught with suspense, driving Bernhard toward a truth that may be too devastating to bear. The question looms large: Will Bernhard achieve the clarity he craves, only to be struck down with heartache by what he finds? The emotional stakes are incredibly high, and the author knows exactly how to make the reader feel every agonizing moment. This book is a truly fantastic read, marked by its intense emotional resonance. I haven't been this moved by a novel in ages—there were certainly heartbreaking parts that brought me to tears! It takes a special kind of storytelling to elicit such a visceral reaction, and this author delivers. And the ending? It is totally gripping! A brilliant, shocking, and profoundly emotional conclusion that will have you reeling. This is more than just a book; it's a powerful experience that explores the darkest corners of human nature and the enduring strength of the human spirit. Highly, highly recommended.
Devil's:TeufelPGR Wright Hi, here is thebook for a treat for those who like historical fictions written with a style and twists as a thrillernovel. Devil's: Teufel isa sequel of PGR Wright’s Almighty Allmachtig. In this sequel, it is not only Febianne thatyou love but start liking Bernhard’s character who determines to save Febianne’sfamily at any cost.
As in Almighty Febianne continues to display courage andgrit for survival. As a reader, youlove to follow Bernhard’s and his determination in solving the misty aboutwhy siblings Hoffman and Gertrud are determined to destroy Louis and hisbeautiful daughter Fabienne.
Set on a backdrop of world war, it is sad to witness how beautiful life suddenlyturns its table the other way.Do you thinkBernhard finds out the reason and prevents Hoffman and Gertrud from harmingLouis and his daughter? Is there another sequel in the offer?Just like Almighty, the Devil’s – Teufel is well researched where events and characters look authenticand presented in a realistic manner.
As a reader, you will walk past world waras in Almighty here too you are likely to get into the skin of characters ofthe book.Devil’s is afast-paced and keeps you glued until the last page.
Literary Characterestics. P.G.R. Wright can be considered as one of the great writer of the historical fiction in this century. The mark of a great writer is originality, rather than individuality of their vision. His simple genius works makes the messages emotional and universal. Both his works, the Almighty and the Devils Teufel are different from many other books found in the marketplaces. The words are clear, lucid and comprehensive to the readers. The main scene of his book is Kopenick, a small town near Berlin. The root of all the enmities found in his books is the Gerturd's grandmother. She was once a God-fearing mother but becoming the mother of hatred and brought her grandchildren in this evil ways. As the saying goes,'as you sow, so shall you reap.' the readers will find how all those doers of evil ended their own lives in the way of their plans. Though the dramas are based in Germany, the actions and the nature in his works are found elsewhere. The world today need peace, love and a fellow-feelings rather than an enemy- feeling. The author rightly expressed, it is better to make our own decisions in life rather than the blind-followers evil planners. I enjoyed reading his books and learned.good lessons.
This is the second book in PGR Wrights World War II epic In the first book Almighty, we get to meet Fabian, Bernhard and The disabled children, Who are the reason they’re hiding out. In this book Bernhard escape from prison and finds Fabien, safe hiding out on her uncle Keiffers farm. He is a changed man and even becomes close to Nicholas, Fabians adopted son. With so mini wanting to protect Fabian, whose going to protect her from herself and her soft heart? She invites danger into the circle and doesn’t even know it. The book spans almost 100 years. We even get inside to how Gertrude an Eddie turned out the way they did and why they hated Fabian and her family so much. This sequel was so very good. It was brilliant writing and it tiesUp everything from book together nicely. My favorite part was in The 27th chapter and because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone else I won’t say. Just know this is so worth reading or listening to the narrator did such an awesome, awesome job I love his narrating. I gave the book 5 stars in every category and they deserve them all. I look to see what other books the author wrote and discovered I had all his audiobooks in my library. I really wish he would write more, but if they’re all great is this one it was totally worth waiting for. Please forgive any grammatical or punctuational errors as I am blind and dictate my review. All opinions are my own though.

I did not read the first book in this series but the story was so well laid out that l could easily follow the trail. This is good storytelling with a mix of fact and fiction that held my attention from the very start. I liked the effort made to develop the characters even though there were a number of them. Because of the different things going on there was constant danger and, as a reader, l had a fear of what was to come! The use of flashback late in the book was well timed as if this information was known early on it would have ruined the plot. Once revealed, the characters themselves were forced to look at their situation differently. I did not see how the final chapter of the story fit with the rest of the book. I think the book could have ended earlier without losing its effectiveness. I heartily recommend this book for those who love a mystery and for those who would like a fictionalized story of Nazi Germany.
The sequel to Allmighty Allmachtig was just as inspiring and gripping. We see another side to Bernhard and his relationship with Fabienne. I do love a historical fiction and this has the added bonus with the intriguing roots in the second world war. It doesn’t disappoint in terms of describing the harrowing time in our history and by combining well researched history with exciting fiction we have a great read. I like that it is a continuation of the first book and we are immediately plunged right back into it with no time delay. The only reason I have deducted a star (I couldn’t take off half) was purely because I didn’t like the ending. While it did tie up the story well, I was left with some questions, possibly a little rushed? Otherwise…a great book with an excellent cadence and gripping story line.
Devil's: Teufel is the second book I have read by by P.G.R. Wright. While historical fiction really isn’t my forte but after reading the first one I was intrigued and curious to see where the author would take us next, which in itself is a testament to the author's ability. Intense, gripping, and thrilling we are plunged back into the thick of it as Fabienne’s father, Bernhard, is forced on the run, while trying his best to track down his daughter. History combines with fiction to give insight into the terrifying time as we live the time through the eyes of the characters, feeling their fear, dread, and even their joy. Smoothly written, and engaging from beginning to end. If all historical fiction I picked up was like this I could see myself falling in love with the genre.
The sequel to Almighty Allmachtig and a decent follow-on. Fabienne’s father Bernhard, not quite the ogre he seemed at the beginning of the first book, is on the run from the Nazis whilst simultaneously trying to find his daughter, who is also trying to avoid the Third Reich at all costs.
Through the eyes of his fictitious characters P G R Wright shows us more of the brutality of the regime in power, emphasising that if ever there was a time and need to fight a war, this was it. Who can really be trusted in such a fragmented society? Certainly there is misplaced trust here, but no spoilers, I leave it for future readers to find out for themselves. A well-paced narrative of historical fiction which lovers of this genre will appreciate.
This initially picks up Bernhard's story from where he escapes prison in the previous book. Trying to avoid the Nazis he desperately searches for his daughter Fabienne who he doesn't realise is safe at the farm. He even goes as far as breaking into a concentration camp to search for her. After spending some time there he manages to escape and finally reunites with his daughter. But they're still not safe. Edmund and Gurturd are still trying to kill them and there is danger on the farm as someone they trust may not be who they think they are. This is a thrilling ride through war time Germany as a father and daughter try to avoid the Nazis at all costs. I particularly liked the message at the end that love conquest all

The story picks up well from Almighty:Allmachtig and you are straight back into the story. The characters are well developed and multi-dimensional, especially Helena/Gertrude. It's interesting to follow her tragic story combined with the peril Fabienne and cohort still find themselves in. I was left a little bereft as the story of one character gets abruptly stopped at the end to then jumps ten years or so, in itself a satisfying end, but left me wondering what happened. All in all a great read and looking forward to the next book the author will write. Definitely recommended.
Escaped from a German prison, Bernard Meyer goes on a journey to find his daughter. She is in danger from a family that wants them both dead. Martha rules her grandchildren with an iron fist, controlling their every move, punishing them whenever her mood took her and was hell bent of them revenging their mother's death. Time is of the essence for both parties! Gripping story revenge and survival as this author intermingled fact and fiction surrounding Germany in the war and the atrosities carried out. Creative plot with so many revaluations, really enjoyed.
This is my second time reading P.G.R. Wright’s work. I really liked that it gets off to a cracking start with action, and the spotlight is on Bernhard’s activities in his search to find his daughter, Fabienne, who we also met in the first novel. It was excellent watching how he transformed his identity with another character; it seemed authentic and credible. Also, I enjoyed the author’s ability to merge fact with fiction, which inadvertently taught me a lot about Hitler’s Germany. An enjoyable read with a positive ending!
This author does know how to bring the emotional feelings out in a story in the World War II period! The story is well written and one that makes me sit in the edge of my seat saying what will happen next. The story line is well told and easy to follow and draws me as the reader in quickly. It holds traumatic and "OMG I can't continue but I must events" again as the last book in the series but is so worth it. What this author writes next who knows but it definitely will be on my to be read list!
This is the second book I have read by the author, having read the prequel I was really keen to find the progress of Fabienne, the character was advanced and it seemed a natural progression, again, as in the first novel, there was fiction, which created the fantastic storyline along with factual events that happened within ww2. PGR Wright blended the fiction with factual with a seamless ease. The characters are full of depth and reality taking us through the atrocities of Hitler’s “ideal world!” Great read and recommended.
I enjoyed this book as much as the first one. It was very compelling to me for a couple of reasons: The writing style is unlike anything I've read before. I've mentioned that before. But the words used and fast-paced storyline places my imagination in Germany. I've never been there, but the way the story is portrayed gives it authenticity. I rooted for the characters and was emotionally invested in their plight despite the unconventional style. Another good one. Well done.
As a fan of the first book, Almighty Allmachtig, I was not disappointed with this second instalment. The author seamlessly blends the dark history of 1940's Germany with action and a twisting storyline that is second to none. To be honest, this story could well be fact or an autobiography! I particularly enjoyed the character development of Bernard in this book, as well as the stories of Hoffman and Gerturd. A most enjoyable read and I look forward to future instalments.
Another good book by the author. It was an excellent read. Very well worth it for sure! Very good book for sure. It is no disappointment at all. Interesting storyline that kept my interest going for this. I am not going to spoil this one for sure. His book is a dozie. The main character of the book is just wanting to know why this is happening to him. Read this, and find out. Wright is an amazing writer, and this will not disappoint.
They say life is a journey. And this one truly exemplified that. In this book, we see the main character Fabienne embark on an extraordinary journey before World War II, during and after. After all of the evil in the world that she has seen, she still sees the goodness in others and she proves to be one of the people who try to redeem the human race. I felt good at the end of the book, after seeing so much bleakness. But reading about her and her friends was very much worth it.
The writing of Wright wins, again! This exciting, historically-informative sequel to Almighty continues the story of unpredictable hardships the characters face in WW2 Germany. Bernhard evades the Nazis while searching for his daughter. Fabienne shields children and loved ones from Third-Reich trouble. None of them suspect Gertrude—a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
What a brilliant write! I can't praise P.G.R Wright enough than to continue recommending his books to everyone that loves to read a novel that would make his head spin. This is amazing novel, full with history, revenge, family battle and lots of life lessons. I can't say less of this book. It worth the time and the money
Devil's Teufel is the sequel story to Almighty Allmachtig. This author's combination of history and fiction makes for a compelling read. The characters are well depicted and realistic and the story kept me turning the pages well into the night. Well done! I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
Stunning!- A thriller writer, the new Wilbur Smith. A gripping tale that intrigues and compells the reader to keep reading. I found it hard to put down. A natural storyteller. An absorbing narrative with believable characters that will stay with you. This is a book you can read again.
I really enjoyed reading this and an even better continuation from the first book Almighty. I really got to know the characters more within this book. Highly recommend.
