"There have been many versions of this Legend of Rose Hall - some good, some not so good - but this one is definitely the best...this is what happens when history and the best of fiction meet." 'Rose Hall's White Witch: The Legend of Annie Palmer' crafts the truths of slavery with the age-old stories of one of the most memorable characters in Jamaica's history - Annie Palmer. The themes of betrayal, romance, love and mystery underpin this epic drama - the bewitching plantation owner, Annie Palmer, the beautiful and determined slave girl, Millie, the handsome and sophisticated John Rutherford caught in the middle - a torrid love story set in the steamy climate of the tropics.
Well, I purchased this book as a souvenir on my trip to Jamaica. It’s an interesting story with a lot of potential. However, for historical fiction, I felt there should have been a lot more book. I wanted more about the women in the story.
The story was alright, but the author was obviously very green. There were some glaring editorial mistake as well. It was worth reading if you have an interest in Jamaican history however.
Not sure this book should have been written. Definitely not in this style (fiction/romance??) and definitely not by a white man. Felt uncomfortable about reading it at times. I bought it at the airport coming back from Jamaica because I finished the two books I brought with me. The historical information included was intriguing.
Intriguing and informative review of the legend of Annie Palmer, aka the White Witch, and her mansion, Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Has a nice summary at the end of the book of the estate and its surroundings, as well as hotels, restaurants and other tourism in Montego Bay. A "must read" for anyone visiting Jamaica.
i think it is a great book if you like to learn about other kind of countrys and places and their mysterys and scary stroy but i would definitly recommend this book to people who can understand harder words that usaully.but still great story to tell other people.
good book needed more details and i think she was a bit more evil than the author described annie to be, syory could have been longer it needed a little more to me but it was good nonetheless
I read this book to prepare for my daughter's beach wedding at the Hilton Rose Hall. Not a great read, but a quick one, and it gave me a bit of background into the infamous White Witch.
