Both Omega Quadrant short stories in one volume...
Unexpected Heat
Omega Quadrant, Book 1.5
Gray and Rohan Parker have been through one hell of a year. A mating that started out with both life and death, they’ve held on tight to one another for months, just trying to survive. Needing some alone time, Rohan plans a lavish vacation to paradise for Gray’s next heat—the honeymoon they weren’t able to take. Now that their twins are fifteen-months, they hope to finally connect again and share an intimacy they haven’t been able to since the toddlers were made.
But a mix-up with the bags threatens their little piece of paradise and brings up old fears and buried emotions. They face up to the loss, the love, and their future together—and have to decide if they let nature take its course.
This sequel short story follows His Surrogate Omega. It is STRONGLY suggested to read that title beforehand to avoid spoilers.
Suddenly His Alpha
Omega Quadrant, Book 1.9
Tulla has spent the last eight years in the Omega Quadrant, trying his damnedest not to get suckered into a mating. He has an independent streak a mile wide, but without many opportunities for omegas, he struggles to forge a path of his own. When his parents put their foot down and demand he attend an Omega Ball and hunt for his alpha, he goes, but under duress.
While there, he runs into an alpha from his past who just might be his future, too.
International bestselling MM romance author Kelex lives in Hampton Roads, Virginia with her twenty-something slacker kidult and two senior grandpups.
When not being a pain in her daughter’s ass or writing under various pen names, she also loves to create stained glass, paint, crochet, bake gorgeous breads, and host game night with all her kiddos, be they born or adopted.
Two shorts that are a great follow up to the previous book. I enjoyed seeing Gray and Rohan again, and it was nice to see them spending some time just together without the crew that loves with them. They dealt with some left over feelings from Jaime that were never spoken about in the previous book.
We also got to meet Tulla and Beckett. I enjoyed them as a couple and liked that they both were hesitant about being at the ball and didn’t really want to meet anyone and yet met and liked each other. I liked Tulla’s and even to an extent Titian’s resentments as they were to me a natural grudge to have at the way their society treats omegas. Beckett luckily was knowledgeable after his reading and his work with omegas with no prospects, that he could understand and help Tulla feel productive member of their little family.
The first story was so sweet! We get a bonus peek into Gray and Rohan's life with the twins, plus the have their first vacay as a married couple (with a few surprises!). Definitely need to read His Surrogate Omega first.
Suddenly His Alpha is an nod to Kelex's themes about the lack of Omegas' rights in this society. Thankfully the couple is well matched and it's nice to see them get together - this one's a standalone.
Performed by John Solo who does a splendiferous job with this series!
I love when authors give us novella's to go along with our favorite characters and series. Both shorts have some nice hints and I'm glad I'm just finding and starting this world. I don't have to wait for the next books.
Two different stories based in the same universe, fun read that fills in a lot of gaps of what happened between books one and two of the main series, ideal reading if you’re already a fan of the east quadrant already
