Nora Black #4

Aroma With A View

Rate this book
My name is Nora Black. I’m over fifty and loving it. I’ve embraced the aches and pains, the failing vision, and the new slightly odoriferous physic gift that seems to keep on giving.

My latest smell-o-vision adventure includes a deadly snake, a high-drama baby shower, sibling secrets, and—surprise—a murder.

With my two BFFs, my sweetie cop, and a whole bunch of nutty Garden Covians by my side, we’ll sniff out the killer. But if we’re not careful, we’ll come out smelling like…manure.

Forget roses, honey. This aroma with a view is starting to stink.

About Renee:
USA Today Bestselling author Renee George writes paranormal mysteries and romances because she loves all things whodunit, Otherworldly, and weird. Also, she wishes her pittie, the adorable Kona Princess Warrior, and her beagle, Josie the Incontinent Princess, could talk. Or at least be more like Scooby-Doo and help her unmask villains at the haunted house up the street.

When she’s not writing about mystery-solving werecougars or the adventures of a hapless psychic living among shapeshifters, she is preyed upon by stray kittens who end up living in her house because she can't say no to those sweet, furry faces. (Someone stop telling them where she lives!)

She resides in Mid-Missouri with her family and spends her non-writing time doing really cool stuff...like watching TV and cleaning up dog poop.

Nora Black book 4
Author: Renee George
Release date: 28th Feb 21

In this fourth book of the misadventures of Nora Black, we’ve gotten to know her fairly well by now, but for those new to the series, here’s a quick summary.
Nora Black was a successful beauty salesperson, until caring for a parent, having a hysterectomy and losing her job during her recovery led her to open a herbal aromatherapy style shop in the town of Garden Cove.
Nora soon discovered post surgery - after briefly dying - that she has ‘smell-o-vision’, or, scents can create psychic memory visions of people around her that help her save lives and prevent crimes.
She’s also dating the dashing detective Ezra Holden.
In this book she’s organised and is hosting a baby shower for BFF Pippa, when things inevitably start going wrong.
Nora may be getting on a bit, and have knee twinges, but she has spark too. She’s clever, funny, loving, kind and also heroic. These qualities help her to run her business Scents and Scentsability, gather a close-knit group of loyal friends and have a knack for solving crimes.
I love that she has become a proud midlife woman who embraces who she is. The new #PWF genre introduces older heroines, characters often ignored in genre fiction, yet their life experience is a terrific attribute.
Her relationship and banter with her BFFs Pippa and especially Gilly add a dose of fun and also relatable depth to the book. Within that framework Renee George manages to add a believable mystery and B-stories too.
Alcohol dependency and addiction issues are dealt with in the book, but in a pragmatic and sensitive manor. One of the main characters has a history of this and the words spoken are wise and supporting. It’s nice to see a darker layer beneath the civil veneer of small town life, that also drives part of the story forward.
This is a really enjoyable book on a great series and Nora is a fantastic kind of hero.

First thing’s first: Never a spoiler in my reviews, here’s what you need to know. This series is absolutely hilarious AND amazing! You can read each and every book as a standalone, however, after you read one, you’ll want to read them all. The characters are all well-developed enough to give enough of a back story to easily follow along regardless of where you start. So, if you haven’t read any others, this is a GREAT place to start! A laugh-out-loud story you don’t want to miss! Nora, a refreshingly life-experienced character (a youngster in her 50s), is back with a supernatural smell power that she developed after a surgical procedure in which she ‘died.’ This power inevitably puts her in questionable positions as an amateur sleuth.

Nothing short of entertaining where Nora, her hunky detective boyfriend Ezra, her BFFs Gilly and Pippa, and of course Gilly’s twins are involved in getting to the bottom of things. Murder always has a way of finding Nora (or is it the other way around) and Nora has an uncanny way of ‘sniffing” out the truth. This time, secrets from the past surface, super dark and clearly enough to kill for, involving a friend from the past.

So, why are you still reading this? Grab this unputdownable book and discover this amazing series, the wonderful characters, and a brilliant author with THE BEST sense of humor. One-Click NOW. You won’t be sorry. I received an ARC of this book and the opinion here is unsolicited and mine alone

All Dolled Up

Nora Black is my favorite unofficial detective. Her nose gets her into more trouble than she can deal with sometimes.

This character is fiercely loyal to the friends she considers family.. in this book Gilly and her twins make an appearance along with Pippa, Jordy and their yet to be born little nugget. We cannot forget the man in her life Ezra the dedicated cop..

Shady dealings are happening in Garden Cove keep your nose open to sniff out the crimes,

Nora and her pals are back and the fun keeps rolling on. In this episode Nora and her friends will have to dig into the past of friend that was hiding secrets dark enough to get her killed. This is a story of fresh starts, renewal and friendship. I laughed. I was so into this story I forgot to eat.

I am really enjoying this series. I love the humor and I think my favorite line is from Ari “you don’t need to put on a bra Auntie Nora – it’s just me!” Nora’s nose is getting better and better at using her nose’s ability but it also gets her in trouble! This mystery involves a doll museum and an old heist. I loved the way the story played out. Also happy to greet the new addition to the group!

I love this series. Each book gives you a cozy mystery but with a side of human nature exploration. Nora Black investigates the murder and possibly connected robberies while exploring addiction on many levels. All the main characters seem to have been touched by alcoholism in their lives in some way, and one of the girls has a recovering addict/AA sponsor significant other who sheds light on the repercussions and effects many experience when those they love struggle with addiction and/recovery. I love how it is worked in to the story and often has a role in the cases. Such a well done series!!!

Nora Black was left with a strange power after she nearly died from an operation. She can sense someones back story by smelling something that has to do with them. Nora and one of her best friends Gilly throw a baby shower for another of Nora's best friends, Pippi. There are a few towns women there including Pippi's not so welcome sister. So when one of the guests needs her inhaler her daughter goes out to her mother's car and gets bitten by a snake in her mother's car and then her mother is found dead the next day, Ezra, Nora's hunky detective boyfriend is called in to investigate. He does ask Nora to use her smell sense to maybe find some clues. Add to that, stores on the street have been robbed and have scared the townspeople into not leaving their homes. Gilly's young twins get involved. And add to that the love/hate relationship between Pippi and her Sister throughout. Once you begin this book while laughing you just can't put it down until the end. Lots of crazy convoluted clues with red-herrings and you have a surprise ending. I absolutely love this series and the characters the author has woven and I can't wait to see what else is in store for Nora and her friends next! I received an ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Nora & Ezra

Nora is back at it with her besties and her hot cop. Who'd thought an interruption to a baby shower would be welcome--well an interruption was welcome just not the reason for it. An unwelcome guest changes everything and we aren't talking about the loud family member.

You know there is gonna be a murder somewhere in here and you are right. Robberies and so much more. Nora has her smell-o-visions but without faces are they really helpful?

The ladies stick together to find the bad guys. It helps to have a close relationship with a detective and Ezra is the closest. I love their relationship. Supportive, steamy, and friends. The fact that he trusts her and her abilities will please all female readers. He is strong, alpha, but realizes the women have their own strengths.

I really enjoy the Midlife series and this is one of my favorites. Don't miss it. While you can read it alone you'll enjoy the whole series.

Nora's nose is at it again. When a friend dies, the day after her daughter is bitten by a snake, Nora uses her ability to help track down a killer. Hopefully without falling victim herself.

I love Nora, her ability to scent out a mystery, her friends Gilly and Pippa, her guy Ezra, and all the fun and wacky residents of Garden Cove. The mysteries are always intriguing and keep me guessing whodunit. I legit couldn't put this book down until I finished it...at 2:30 in the morning.
If you're looking for an interesting paranormal cozy mystery/Women's Fiction that flows well from the very first page until the last, look no further than this book. Highly recommend.

I received a copy of this book from the author via Bookfunnel. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.

Nora Black was surrounded not only by friends but by situations with the potential to endanger her life. With her 'olfactory superpower' showing up sometimes unexpectedly, others summoning it up, she continues to be an asset for unraveling crimes and mysteries. Liked the intriguing plot development that kept me connecting the dots with Nora. I like these stories that keep my mind agile following the action and enjoying the situations in which the protagonist is involved. Suspense, interesting characters, funny friends, age ailments, suitors, threats, things that crawl, lot of suspects, romance mystery and some passion in this story.

Nora keeps finding trouble.....

Nora keeps turning up trouble wherever she goes and this time it includes a baby shower she and Gilly have hosted for Pippa and Jordy's baby. Turns out to be only the beginning of trouble that takes several twists and turns to actually eventually sort out.
I loved this latest installment in this series, these books do not disappoint. The characters are funny, interesting and endearing, the storyline engaging and hilarious. I highly recommend this book and series and can't wait for the next one to arrive. I can't wait to read the next in series!

This one was really a delight to read since main character is closer to my age. It is also a reader's treat when the character is living large and having adventures along with it. This of course is not your typical story because it has paranormal touch to it. This is not Nora's first run either so I grabbed it as soon as I seen it. On the plus side too is her cop that is her sweetheart. You might want to be careful this one will tickle the nose hairs often. You sink into this one looking for the clues that is needed to solve a mystery that keeps you turning the pages.

Nora Black is back and using her smell o vision to help her sexy boyfriend Ezra who is a detective for the Garden Cove police department. She and her BFFs are on the case investigating and getting into trouble. This time Nora is cutting it close as well as one of her BFFs. Excellent in the storytelling and the antics of Nora and her girls. Lot's of questions to be answered and secrets to be sniffed out in Garden Cove. Nora is just as exciting as she was in her last adventurous mystery. I received an ARC via BookFunnel without obligation. I volunteered an honest review.

This is the fourth instalment but I missed #3. Though I loved the first book, the series is already getting stale. I like a good mystery, but I didn't find this one very interesting...the break ins were not a mystery at all...I had that figured out immediately. The rest doesn't come together cleanly. I don't enjoy the repartee between Nora and Easy. It seems like padding. I don't have any more in the series, and don't think I will be seeking them out either. But for a quick read that isn't awful, this will suffice. This one ends my reading challenge for 2021!

The fourth book in the Nora Black series begins with Pippa’s baby shower. With her sister there Pippa wasn’t having that great a time and that was before a copperhead bit one of the party goers. The mystery was very interesting with a clever solution. I really enjoy the found family aspect of this series. Nora and her two bff’s have such a great relationship. I love their banter and the love that shines through their interactions. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys paranormal women’s fiction and cozy mysteries.

This series is absolutely amazing!!! Nora Black is my favorite unofficial detective. Man I tell you that nose of her is dangerous LOL it gets her into more trouble than she can handle some time but it does make for a very enjoyable and entertaining read though. Overall a great read. As always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.

I was given an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. The latest book in the Nora Black series does not disappoint! We join Nora and her BFFs, Gilly and Pippa and her honey, Ezra in yet another mystery! Nora seems to have a nose for trouble - join her as she tries to unravel the latest murder. The excitement in this book is off the charts! My heart was pounding as plot unfolds. I hope there is more Nora adventures to come!

Wow

I love when I sit down to read and the next thing I realize is that the book is finished and hours have gone by. And I enjoyed the book so much I am disappointed that it ended. This was was like that for me. I just immersed myself in these sassy zany down to earth characters who accepted her ability to sense things. I look forward to her next addition to the series. Thank you for an exciting and enjoyable read. HEA.

A fun read, but with depth.

A murder, a baby shower, and an art auction, what could go wrong? Lots of hijinx in this cozy mystery to keep the BFFs and local law enforcement (that would be Ezra or Easy, Nora's Hottie cop boyfriend.) on their toes. As well as Nora sniffing her way to some surprising answers.

This is a fast-paced, well-written story that made me chuckle, sigh, and tug at my heartstrings.

This is another delightful adventure with Nora, Easy, Gilly and Pippa. This series has become one of my favorites. I love the quirkiness of Nora’s gift, the loyalty of her friendship with Gilly and Pippa, and her relationship with Easy. The twist at the end of this caught me by surprise and kept me on the edge of my seat until it was resolved.

What an amazing series! I love Nora Black. She has such an awesome psychic power with her being able to get visions of peoples memories from a smell. This was a great mystery. I have to admit that I had absolutely no clue who the killer was until Nora figured it out. And Pippa is having her baby! Nora gets to be the awesome aunt again!

Great book

In this book by Renee George Pippa is having her baby shower. When one the guests goes to the car to get something she finds a copperhead and gets bitten. Later her mom is found dead and Nora is on the case. She finds information about an old burglary case. I really enjoyed reading this book.

What sets apart this series is the gimmick: lead character Nora is a psychic who, triggered by a particular scent, can see events in the recent past (all of which, not coincidentally, pertain to a recent murder.) It's all a bit too predictable for words, but the dialogue is snappy and the characters (mostly female) are likable.

Great Murder Mystery

A lot going on in this book. Not just a murder, but several other crimes plus a very pregnant friend and her annoying little sister. I love when a book has a lot going on, it keeps the pace moving along at a decent clip. I enjoyed the book very much.

Lovely

Every book in this series has been unique and I especially liked this one. Maybe it was the quirky cameo characters and lovely little twist bombs. Looking forward to the next one being released, but I might read this one again for some warm fuzzies and quirkiness.
