Caro Jenkins is finally making her escape for Christmas. It has been a sucky, sucky year...
She got dumped... She's still stuck selling over-priced clothes to idiots... and, of course, she had to work on Christmas Eve eve. Her birthday.
But now she's on her way to the cosy oasis that is her parents' house - ready to slip into her festive PJs, turn her back on the year and hibernate until New Year arrives.
One ill-advised moment of weakness where she actually listens to her Sat-Nav and disaster strikes.
Sam Wills is determined to bury his head in the sand until Christmas is all over. It has been a crappy, crappy year...
He's all alone... The well-meaning villagers of Little Bamton are driving him potty... and, of course, Christmas was always his wife's favourite time of year.
But now he's on his way down to the village pub for one last appearance before hiding-out in his cabin until the New Year. Or, that was the plan until he spotted the ancient, red Nissan Micra on its side in the ditch.
Will the magic of Little Bamton be enough to save Caro and Sam this Christmas or is the festive season about the be the biggest baubles-up of the year so far?

Fantastic festive read, loved getting to know the characters and see them fall for one another. I loved the little village vibe and how everyone knew each other and wanted to help each other out. The women who ran the pub were amazing. Caro and Sam were really cute and I loved how thoughtful Sam was! Can't wait to read more of Little Bamton x
Okay read, nothing too exciting. I always find it hard to believe that a community will adopt a stranger ,you fall in love and get a new job all in 2-3 days. But I read the whole thing and it left me with a smile.
This is a brilliant book from the first page I was hooked. Great plot and characters and full of starting again romance and finding new friends and finding yourself. It’s a great read. Caro is finally getting away for Christmas and going home but her satnav takes her down country lanes as been a bad accident and she suddenly has an accident and Sam comes to the rescue. Snow starts to fall and Sam says know one will get her car out tonight so she’s stuck in the village for Christmas as snow is falling. She stays with Sam and she finds him good looking but he’s got a past and won’t always let go. She soon learns about what life is for and is so happy in this village and especially with Sam. When her car is finally sorted she heads to her parents for Boxing Day but she misses the village and Sam and what does she decide to do for the best. A heartwarming story.
Your most basic Christmas love story there is. There is nothing wrong with it, and it can be the book you need if you're looking for a cozy, found family, widow male interest type of love.
If you're looking for something more, something a bit different, this will not be for you because.. well, nothing really happens. The male character is a bit grumpy at first but gets over that pretty quickly, everyone in the small town welcomes the female lead like an old friend and the ladies that "help" her accomodate and learn more about Sam are like teenage girls, always wiggling their eyebrows at her and interrupting them in their moments.
And then she finally gets to leave this town and go to her parents and she comes back the very same day because she doesn't like the questions her family asks about her ex boyfriend and she misses him. Just like that. And then it ends :)
A delightful, light Christmas read. Caro is on route to the parent’s village for Christmas with the family. She hits traffic, takes a diversion through a neighbouring village and ends up stranded in a ditch. The handsome and sultry Sam dashes to her aid and here begins a great story of new adventures, friendships, hopes and maybe even love. I hope u enjoy this story as much as I did.
So pleased I discovered Beth Rain and her books last week. I asked her which was a good book to start with and she recommended this one. A delightfully sweet festive tale - plenty of snow and Christmas cheer but a little sadness too. Lovely quick read and I can't wait to read the next one in the series.
Sweet. Very very sweet and tender and Christmasy, in a great setting: I'd love to get stranded in Little Bamton myself. However, character development, especially Sam's was minimal. It needed some depth for me to rate it with 4 stars.
I really enjoyed this fast-paced, cosy Christmas read which takes place over three days and describes the fun and excitement of the festive season in all its glory. The characters are well drawn and I was immediately urging them on to find a happy resolution to their issues, as though they were already personal friends, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching the story gradually unfold as they overcame the hurdles which stood in their way. There were several typos in the copy I received but hopefully they will have been corrected in the second issue.

Hands up who definitely isn't ready to let go of the Christmas reads just yet?? (Me!) Set over Christmas and not remotely what she had planned Caro takes a wrong turn which could just lead to the right one. A gorgeous story with well rounded characters that amerce you in their story. I loved it and read it very quickly. An absolute joy to anyone not ready to shelve those Christmas books just yet
Loved this novel, can't wait to revisit Little Bampton
This was a great read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn't want it to end.
I love near the beginning that Caro shouts at her Sat nav, because it interrupted her singing. It really made me giggle because I have been known to do this too.
I really enjoyed the building relationship between Sam and Caro, he seemed so thoughtful, he'd been through some stuff but still had time for a stranger.
I think Caro brings out the best in Sam because she helped him move on with his life and visa versa. Isn't that what a relationship is about, bringing out the best in each other.
I am really looking forward to revisiting Little Bampton in Beth's next books.
Loved this book. It was a quick read with delightful characters. A very festive story about a village and the wonderful people who live there. I look forward to reading more about Lirtle Bamton.
Amazon synopsis (abbreviated): She got dumped...She's still stuck selling overpriced clothes to idiots...and, of course, she had to work on Christmas Eve eve. Her birthday.

I loved this book. It’s was a great little, unexpected, romance novel and I could not put it down. When Caro gets lost in a snowstorm on the way to her parents’ home for Christmas, she believes its all just part of the crappy year she’s had. However, she discovers an entire community she never knew she needed and discovers that Christmas miracles can happen.
I was immediately captivated by this story. I honestly couldn’t put it down. Caro was such a relatable character and I felt as if I was right there with her discovering the magic of this little, English village. Beth Rain is a great storyteller, and the way she described the characters and lifestyle of this town made me want to live there and be part of that life.
This is a great story, revolving around community, friends, and the family we create from the people around us. Throw in a little Christmas spirit and you have yourself a holiday hit. I cannot say enough great things about this book. I recommended it highly to anyone who loves a good, easy to read story.
Didn’t finish halfway through. It’s okay. It’s very short so it can’t really be anything else than insta love which I personally hate. Although this author did do a good job of at least not making the mc constantly monologue in detail about how hot or how perfect the love interest is immediately like in many other romance novels. Even though it is insta love, It was still at least a little more subtle which I appreciated and which is hard for many romance authors to do.
But it’s just pretty slow and a little boring. I had to skim a lot. I wish the main characters would talk/interact way more in meaningful way. With such a short story, you need to have your characters doing things together to show why they are really grabbing the others attention. Not making them have quick, unimportant meaningless interactions. Both Sam and Caro are okay characters, but very forgettable. There isn’t anything that makes you really connect to them. They feel more like side characters, especially Sam. I just wasn’t invested.
Ms. Rain wrote a wonderful, can’t put down book! Caro leaves her home & drive to her parents’ home to celebrate Christmas. She is thinking how she would like to design/repurpose clothing but the needed cash just isn’t there. Enroute, she comes upon a traffic holdup. She decides to check her. GPS for an alternate route. She decides to take it. She ends up in the ditch with no way out. Along comes Sam. He helps get her out of her car; but the car will need to be towed & with the heavy snowstorm it can’t be done at that time. Sam takes her home & she celebrates Christmas with Sam & new friends in Bamton. This book has me thinking about what a wonderful time! Please read it! It will leave you wanting a different type of Christmas full of unconditional love, working with others & wonderful memories!
Just fabulous. A heartwarming, delightful festive debut. I just want to go to Little Bamton, and enjoy a white Christmas in the Devon countryside. It felt like visiting old friends. Just so welcoming. Couldn't help but smile throughout.
Caro is travelling to her parents for Christmas. She skids on ice, ending up in a ditch and rescued by Sam. With snow falling, she's unexpectedly stranded for Christmas in Little Bamton and Sam. Sam just wants to forget all about Christmas but Caro is determined to repay his kindness. A white Christmas, tree lighting, and carols, amongst other Christmas delights. All the Christmas feels. All perfect for a hallmark festive film. Highly recommend if you love Christmas.
I wouldn't normally read a Christmas-themed book in April, but something about this one attracted my attention. Not just the pretty cover (or the fact it's quite a short read). In any case, I'm so glad I did! I think I can best describe it as 'a hug in a book', laced with oodles of charm and a delightful 'will they, won't they' romance. The enchanting setting of Little Bampton is the perfect backdrop to the tale of Caro, driving home for Christmas until disaster strikes. Enter Good Samaritan Sam and a cast of other memorable characters, each bringing something special to the story. Best of all, this is the first novella in a series and I eagerly look forward to revisiting Little Bampton soon.
This was my first Christmas book of the season and it definitely scratched that joyful, small town, feel good itch. I love that it wasn't too long -- I read it in less than two days. The descriptions of the town and the festivities and the people warmed my heart (even as I looked up all the British terms I had not seen before -- bonus points for teaching me something new!). My only qualm is that the ending felt too rushed for me. There seemed to be minimal thinking-through of how the financial part of the protagonist's plans would work, and I would have loved to see the love story a bit more developed before the tidy wrap-up. That said, as Christmas books go, this one has all the bells and whistles, or should I say, lights and snowballs!
…The FMC and the MMC barely spoke to each other in the span of what? Two days? And they’re falling in love? I need a little more than that when they literally barely speak to each other and Sam is constantly running off to go do something. It was cute, I’ll say that. They both need each other and the FMC reworks her crappy boring life so she’s much happier. It also kind of made me laugh that she was so keen to drop her whole family IMMEDIATELY when she finally sees them, after gushing about her parents especially and being so excited to see them. Girl come on 😂 Anyway. It was a cute warm fuzzy book just a little too clean and a little too boring for me personally.
This was a perfect Christmas story. In a snowstorm, Caro's car ended up in a ditch and reluctantly, Sam let her stay at his beautiful little cabin. Just for the night. Sam hated Christmas. He wanted to be alone. The next day, he took her down to the nearby town of Little Bampton, where he could just drop her off to find a place to stay, but things weren't that simple. So begins the story of friendship, acceptance, love and family. I loved the people of Little Bampton. They pulled you in and made you want to become one of them. And they brought two lonely people together at Christmastime.
Such a lovely Christmas read! I was so completely immersed in the cosy community of Little Bampton, that I read this book in a couple of days (which would have been a matter of hours if kids and work didn't call) Caro and Sam's love story is the perfect festive pick me up, from being rescued by a grumpy stranger to finding family in community, this book had all the christmassy romantic feels and I highly recommend.
Super sweet mini novel about a girl who gets stuck in a small town (in England) over Christmas Eve/Day and how she falls in love with the town and -of course- a handsome, kind widow. Cheesy, sweet, no spice (a few sweet kisses but nothing more than hallmark). I read this in one plane ride, it was a nice little Christmas book. I would be interested in picking up the rest of the series, the characters were very likable.
