A joint history of the Coca-Cola Company and Pepsico, Inc., takes in humble beginnings, infighting, unscrupulous market expansion and manipulation, sophisticated promotion campaigns, and international wheeling and dealing
Personal Response: I liked the The Cola Wars because it is a war between Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Both the company's were fighting since they both started out. I like that they book explains problems that both happen to both of the company's.
Plot Summary: Professor Dale Scott influence some of his students to research more of what he already learned. They got rest of the information by Dr. Roy and Mr. Bob. Both Coca-Cola and Pepsi both used advertising to influence people to buy their product. But in the end Both products are still available today but in a long shot Pepsi won.
Recommendation: I would recommend this book to anyone who likes soft drinks and their history. I would recommend the age limit to be 15 and up because it is a higher lexile. This allow people to understand the difference to Coca-Cola and Pepsi.
After a promising start it became mired in 1970's politics.
This book was written before the Coke essentially lost the cola wars in the 1980's. As a result, the book lacks a connection with the present. It does, however, add some insight into a business that was built on the premise of delivery by cart and horse and how they adapted through modern technology.
The chapters didn't flow together well. It was more like a collection of stories from the big business/political files with a Coke theme.
