The Savvy Screenwriter demystifies the film industry and reveals what aspiring screenwriters really want and need to know. From finding and working with agents, to insights about story analysts and movie executives, to understanding option agreements, to providing samples for queries, synopses, treatments, loglines, and outlines, to pitching, Susan Kouguell knows what works and what doesn't, and gives practical advice on getting your screenplay sold.
I am not a screenwriter and have no experience in the film industry, but I might be interested in screenwriting in the future and was curious to learn more. This book was a fast read since I wasn't stopping to take notes, but I would certainly go back through it carefully and do each of the things she advised if I were trying to sell a screenplay. It was an interesting look into some behind-the-scenes work of the film world, and it looked to me like she had good advice for beginners.
