Eden's Hell

Rate this book
BOOK I of Dawné Dominique The First series

In the beginning....

God created man and called him Adam, a fine specimen replicated in his own image. He then created woman to ease Adam’s loneliness and named her Lillith.

Unfortunately, God realized his mistake too late in giving woman free will, for she would rule her domain—not man.
When Lillith left Adam, God created another for his first-born son, and gave her the name Eve and a kingdom called Eden, but by then it was too late, for he’d unleashed Hell into the world of man.

Eden’s Hell by Dawne Dominique was in one word: marvelous! This book had so many twists and turns that it kept you guessing. The storyline was so unique. Eden’s Hell had just the right amount of sexual tension, mystery and drama. According the last page, this is only the beginning to a wonderful series.

Ms. Dominique creates a world of biblical proportions. She skillfully entwines religious theology, vampire lore, and current day. The plot is intricately woven giving her characters both ancient and modern characteristics. This is a tale as old as time and yet thoroughly new again under Ms. Dominique's hand.

The scene is set. Night on a deserted beach. Eva is racing away from an evil vampire who wants to take control of her. She sees a man and begs for help only to discover he is like the one she is fleeing. Even knowing Addison is vampire, Eva is immediately drawn to him. She offers herself to him but he refuses to veil her as a vampire. It is a tale of good, evil, and the love that conquers all.

Is is wrong of me to say I was the most taken with the evil vampiress? The lovely and duplicitous Satrina? I loved the evil she radiated, her malicious manipulations, and eye-popping sexual exploits and debauchery. In fact I developed quite the soft spot for her 'my way' attitude and general badassery as she ruthlessly fought Addison for Eva.

Like the first story of Adam and Eve, I think Addison gets off rather easy. He pays some lip service to how he failed both Satrina (Lilith archetype) and Eva. Yet I retained the feeling he felt a sense of entitlement. He was the first son and therefore above the females - of course as it irritated it also made him more realistic. To me a realistic character has to have some flaws.

The females are definitely the stronger personalities in this story. They embody pure good and pure evil. They mold and pull Addison throughout until to protect Eva he finally finds his spine and makes the ultimate sacrifice.

Do yourself a favor and read Eden's Hell. Ms. Dominique makes her plot plausible. She blends the ancient past with modern day vampires. She isn't afraid to let her characters show their frailties among their strengths.

I know you'll enjoy it.

From the first page, this author had me hooked! An erotic, paranormal twist on the tale of Adam and Eve, this romance is a must read for the erotic romance lover. Ms. Dominique has created a compelling story about Adam/Addison one of the first vampires and how he saves Eva one dark, lonely night. Eva, a human caught up in a world she didn't know existed, places her trust in Addison, and ends up part of a life she hadn't imagined.

Dark and beautiful, the author creates vivid scenes that at times are sensual, other times somber, and make you feel as if you are right in the pages of the book. I couldn't put it down until I reached the end, and I was sincerely glad I had book 2 at the ready.

Addison has lived a long life. He is at the point where he is no longer happy with his existence. He hasn’t been at anything close to happy for many centuries. He’s been hurt deeply on more than one occasion and he is now cursed for all eternity because of it. The ex-wife that he hates has stalker tendencies and just to torment him some more she purchased the home next to his.

Eva has always found herself attracted to losers. It shouldn’t surprise her that the current loser has put her life in danger in his attempts at becoming a vampire. As she runs for her life, fleeing the house where she was caged like an animal she sees salvation walking on the beach. Little does she know that the man enjoying a stroll on the beach is the exact creature that she was running from.

Addison and Eva give their readers a sweet love story. He wants to keep her away from the clutches of Satrina at all costs. He knows the evil that Satrina is capable of. Addison also knows that she doesn’t follow the rules that they must live by. Eva is scared. She has been manipulated into signing a contract, she has been introduced to creatures she never knew existed, and to top it all off she gets
Addison as her unlikely protector.

Huge surprise ending. I never saw any of what transpired at the ending happening. It’s a vampire love story so obviously someone will most likely get turned (veiled) into a vampire. I never pictured any of the events that happened leading to the tourney on the beach. Kudos to Dominique for creating such an interesting look into vampire folklore. I am very pleased that I have the following two books in this series on my Kindle just waiting to be read. I am very curious to where she will take this new era and new evil.

I enjoyed how the mythos of Lillith played into Dominique’s brand of vampire. Eden’s Hell was a surprising mix of biblical references, vampire myths, and a love that can overcome any obstacle thrown in its path.

Today's Review is on Eden's Hell by Dawne' Dominique

Eden's Hell is the first book that I have read by this author, but it most definitely won't be the last. A fantastical tale, Eden's Hell is an original adaptation of what both Adam and Lillith's life had become after Eden, and the curse that was placed upon them.

Adam; now referred to as Addison Eden, is a refined vampire who only takes the lives of the scourge of Los Angeles. In only taking their lives, Addison is hopeful that he may expiate for his sin's against God. He is however a pragmatic man, and deep down knows that he will never be redeemed.

Living in his beach house, he has shut himself off from the world. Condemning himself to a life of loneliness, he is surprised to find himself saving one of Lillith's; now referred to as Satrina, victims. Eva has unwillingly signed a contract to be one of Satrina's pets. And though he has never really cared about Satrina's other pets, he finds himself drawn to Eva and will do just about anything to keep her safe. Hell hath no furry however, as Satrina sets out to reclaim that which is hers.

As Addison spends more time with Eva, he begins to experience emotions that he hasn't felt in a very long time. He realizes, without a doubt, that he has fallen head over heels in love. He becomes determined to not only win the battle to win her safety, but to also win her heart.

A wonderful story filled with love and sacrifice. Though there were some editing errors, the story was still enjoyable.

Good editing is a MUST, and I can not say that enough. There is absolutely no reason for a book to be on the shelf with mistakes, and it is because of this that I have lowered my rating.

I received Eden's Hell as part of Bewitching Book Tours. Thank you very much, Dawne, for giving me this opportunity.

Face it, there is a glut of vampires to read about. For me, the biggest mistake any of them make is not having the vampires drink blood. What's the point of the fangs if you're not going to do anything with them?

That's not the case here.

I found myself reading an interesting blend of sensuality and intrigue. The play of mythology and vampirism was intriguing, and kept me going through the end of the book, wanting to know more and devour the whole thing.

Overall, this is a good book. Much better than many I've read in the same genre. When the sex comes out, it's not just the loving passion of the main couple; there is some hot and naughty scenes with the villianess. I appreciated them for revealing more of what a callous bitch the bad girl is, and also because I like a little naughty now and then.

The few flaws I picked out were not enough to really detract from the story, and weren't enough to make me put it down. Granted, I tend to be a little harsher on books because of the Inner Editor all authors carry. So I notice word choices that could be better, or more especially feel when an ending could have been more gracefully handled.

Everything leading up to the last chapter or so made Eden's Hell worth reading. There is so much torment in Addison, that you can't help but pity him. Satrina is perfectly wicked, and yet you can't hate her for it. Eva is innocent yet dedicated, with a strength that's completely admirable.

Dawne Dominique has put together a good book that stands out in a diluted genre.

Eden’s Hell (The First #1) by Dawne Dominique

3 Stars

Eva always seems to pick the wrong ones when choosing a boyfriend, but Ryder is the wrongest of all when he takes her to a club and they both end up signed up as slaves in an unbreakable contract with Satrina, an evil vampire who takes pleasure in being cruel. Managing to escape Satrina’s home, Eva runs away only to bump into Addison, another of Satrna’s kind. Addison decides he wants to keep Eva, so a battle involving vampire law ensues between the pair over who has rights over the human

Eden’s Hell puts a new spin on how vampires came to be and the laws they live by. Combining the biblical tale of Adam, Lilith and Eden with a vampire story is new to me and very well done. Dawne has written a cast filled with strong females, good and bad, and a likeable male lead, who though flawed, is still hot enough to make a girl swoon.

A very interesting start to a series about the first made/born vampires and how they have lived amongst humans for so many hundred years. The story moves along smoothly with action, romance, hot sex and intrigue in equal amounts and doesn’t fail to deliver on excitement.

I enjoyed Eden’s Hell and the portrayal of Addison as a creature who accepts his damnation while refusing to further condemn himself by preying on the innocent and helpless. He truly believes he is beyond redemption and in his love for Eva, refuses to drag her down with him. Satrina counterbalances his actions by being his opposite in character. Anyone and everyone is her victim. Some of the explanation of the vampire creed was a little difficult to follow but not enough that it detracted from the storyline and there weren’t so many characters that one got lost in trying to keep track of who, what, and when. The final ending was a satisfactory one though I’m still uncertain if the conclusion was actually The End, or if an opening was left for a sequel. I was certainly left with the feeling that Addison and Eva’s—and possibly also Satrina’s—story has yet been concluded. All in all, it’s an interesting story and one to be enjoyed.

My opinion two chapters into Eden's Hell was WOW! I loved this book! It was a fresh twist on an old story, and was beautifully written. The story is actually about a dark and lonely Addison and his psychotic and malicious ex wife Satrina who are vampires living in California. Enter innocent Eva, a mere mortal escaped from Satrina's grasp before stumbling onto Addison's beach, literally. Then all hell breaks lose in the power play to retrieve what Satrina believes is her "pet". The ending has a twist that I know I didn't see coming, but we finally see a happy ending to a beautiful love story full of angst, fear, a little bit of faith and a whole lot of sacrifice. It also sets up the next book beautifully.

A new take on vampires that grabbed my attention. The hero, Addison is a good guy, yes, he kills to survive, but Ms Dominique does a great job of allowing him to come through as an honorable man. The relationship that ensues after he saves a human woman from another vampire is good and believable. An enjoyable read.
