Toliman

Rate this book
In the twenty third century Britannia rules not only the waves, but space, and the jewel in her crown is Toliman. Home to the Dakrans, a primitive but ambitious race who have recently been brought to heel and their slaves, the tribal Jivanans. The key to Dakra’s wealth is its moon which is rich in the elements needed to maintain Britain’s monopoly on FTL travel. As Battlestar Galactica meets Game of Thrones, the lives of the central characters are twisted into an epic plot. King Henry Plantagenet is newly crowned and desperate to maintain order after the second restoration. To do this he must stave off the democrats who would return to the rule of law and of course his brother, John, the pretender to the throne. A marriage with a Dakran princess seems an obvious choice to seal his power but with it comes risk.Meanwhile, Bridgette Lindegaard is a Post Mortem Investigation officer who enters the brains of murder victims to solve crimes. Her latest victim is the Minister for Mars who was on his way to meet the Dakran Ambassador who had something to share about the activities on Mars. Perhaps he knows something of the plan by Eleanor Plantagenet, the third of the royal siblings, to wage war. She’s already got all her pieces in play on Mars. It’s just a question of which move she will make next as she seeks to create a new and independent kingdom.
