This book captured my attention from the very first page and held it to the very last. Reading in the prologue about how Catherine Lyons' family disappeared from their Colorado Springs home when she was a Freshman in college made me a sitting duck for when the author fast-forwarded to 17 years later when Cat spotted her father in Paris, France. I was really glad to have this in e-book format, since it allowed me to read over my lunch breaks at work and elsewhere. I hated to put it down and looked for every excuse to come back to it over the few days it took for me to devour it.

The Last Lie features a tight, intense plot involving international intelligence agents from the KGB, MI-6 and Interpol. It's also filled with murder, kidnapping, intrigue and theft. From the moment Cat spots her invalid father, she finds herself the unwitting target of various forces that want to keep him from babbling his secrets. With the help of self-proclaimed photographer/banker, Collin Montrose, she is eventually reunited with her long lost father and younger brother. Cat and Collin are attracted to one another, but are continually frustrated by one another's attempts to guard their secrets with pretty lies. Paralyzed by a stroke, Cat's dad can utter only a few words in answer to his son and daughter's many questions. Meanwhile, his wife and past associates are out to silence him and his daughter for good. I honestly didn't know who was going to make it out of this adventure alive! An added bonus is the way the author seamlessly enfolded the two main characters' Christian faith into the story.

The characters in this novel are fascinating. The main character, Cat, is a bit of a crybaby, but she's also a survivor and determined young woman. The hero, Collin, is a charming and loyal Scotsman with a quick wit and powerful protective instincts. Cat's brother, Pierre, is a handsome, intelligent young man with a black belt in Karate. Collin's analyst, Far, is a computer savant, expert intelligence networker and Star Wars enthusiast. Cat's father, Thomas, is an affectionate dad with many regrets. And her mother, Marie, and her handler are both cunning, cold-hearted opportunists willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want. Even the minor characters in this story are, for the most part, unique and three-dimensional.

If you enjoy a bit of good, clean romance, bound up with a heart-pounding, mystery/suspense, then this is a good choice. The format of the e-book was a bit limited (I had to manually page back to the front, because there is no way to backtrack otherwise.). It could also use some editing for the half-dozen or so typos I found. But overall, this is a thrilling read. Even though it is part of a trilogy, it's a satisfying story on its own (sans one character who is not fully explained).

So good!

So many twists and turns! You can't go wrong with espionage, romance, and travel... This book was especially fun since I'd lived in some of the places mentioned.

I don't normally read suspense but I was asked to review this book and I know the author's work, so I didn't hesitate. I found myself caught up quite quickly trying to unravel the mysteries at the same time the characters did. I loved Cat and Colin and some of the secondary ones. Cat is strong and smart. She doesn't miss a trick. And Colin is good at what he does. He is quick to make up stories to explain why he is someplace and why he knows certain people. But Cat is quick to see through his lies. Even though she knows he is lying, she can't help feeling that there is more to it.

If you like suspense and intrigue you will love this book. It has some romance but there is nothing inappropriate for younger readers so I would recommend this book to any age, teen and up.

As a fan of the TV series Castle and NCIS, I found I loved The Last Lie by Leann Harris. Intrigue, action, humor, and romance all bundled together in fast moving read that kept me on my toes and guessing. A strong, pro-active heroine paired with an even stronger yet sympathetic hero kept the chemistry and tension humming. The story immediately pulled me in and didn’t let go of me until the final sentence, making me set aside things I needed to do so I could learn the truth and find out what happened in the past as well as what would happen as a result. Lies, spies, shattered lives, forgiveness and love that wouldn’t let go. A wonderful book that I highly recommend.

First book I have read of Leann's. Certainly was full of mystery and suspense. Being abandoned by your family and having no word or idea, then go over vacation 18years later and see a relative across the street. (Irene Hannon's book Deceived has this promo also which I am looking forward to read.) Cat faced 24hours of drama events which left many questions and no answers. Then to be sent back home and told to be silent to protect people. The world of spies and spooks is all based on lies to someone. Secrets and hiding to catch the unsavoury characters in our world certainly is a game plan that government economies want intel on. Interesting plot.

Intriguing Plot! Exciting Read

Imagine coming home from college to find your parents have disappeared. Right away the plot intrigued me. The story hooked me from the start and kept me turning the pages.
In Paris the heroine is startled to see a man she thinks must be her father. She chases after him but runs into a dead end. I won't give away any spoilers here, but she finds herself caught in the middle of an exciting KGB and CIA plot and counter plot.

Well written. Don't miss it.

I bought this Kindle book to try out something by Le Ann Harris who is a Christian author to see if she would be an author I would like. No. I do not care for her writing. I don't know exactly how to put my finger on what I did not like. There were things I did not buy in the story, and I just did not care for the way she wrote. I did finish the story so that is an automatic minimum of two stars.

Although I enjoyed the book, I felt the entrance of Colin was a little too pat and of course his immediate attraction to Cat was expected. I know it is a suspense romance novel and the author did a good job of keeping your attention and trying to make certain scenes appear real, but I would have liked Cat to at lease succeed in finding and retaining a relationship with her family.

An absolute winner

I have always enjoyed spy thrillers and this one did not disappoint me. Once I started I had a hard time stopping. In fact I didn't except to eat dinner and do the dishes. It's 12:53:AM and I just finished. There was no way I was going to sleep without knowing how it ended. Read it and enjoy it. I look forward to reading her next one.

Christian spy/romance story

I enjoyed this book. The two main characters were Christians but the story was not preachy. I noticed a couple small discrepancies in the plot and at least one grammar type error but generally speaking it was well written and was a good read.

A Keeper

A wonderful book that was impossible to put down! The author held my interest from the moment young Catherine returned home to an empty house. With all the different agencies working together, the mystery of the disappearing family is solved. Very well written!

It's amazing how a book comes together. From one chance sighting of someone you know, to a week of suspense. Enjoy the ride, I did.

Great storyline.

Storyline was exciting yet somewhat predictable. Author connected well in the beginning, but seemed to lose me the last third of the book.
