Nick and Amy have a great life — they live together, play together, and have just planned their European trip for the summer. On the first leg of their trip, they set off to Bucharest, Romania.

On one of their guided tours, they break off from the pack and soon discover that everyone has mysteriously vanished without explanation and without a trace — not just the people in their tour, but everyone in the world.

Confused and deeply saddened by this strange turn of events, the young couple try to make the most of the situation. The internet still works, but isn’t getting updated, the town's fuel supply will likely last them a lifetime, and there’s enough food so they will never go hungry. They have no choice but to adapt to this new life they have been thrust into, but all the while there is something unsettling about the unexplained disappearance of every person on the planet.

They wanted adventure, and they found it. But this is just the beginning…

For a while I was contemplating the idea of what would happen if everyone on Earth were to disappear, apart from a select few. By complete chance I stumbled across this book on wattpad, and as I got into it I was hooked. I think that the consequences of what would happen if much of humanity were to disappear were well thought out and captured some things that I didn't think of, for example the planes falling out of the sky, feral dog attacks, loss of electricity and cars blocking the roads.
I also found some of the literature very beautiful like the time when Amy and Nick are camping at night beside the railway tracks after their train crash, they watch a shooting star and realise how completely alone they are in the universe- I can't remember the exact quote, but I remember being quite stunned by it. It was very deep.
I think that the book was interesting throughout because of the dilemmas they had to face, like in the beginning the near death experience with the elevator instantly set the book off to a rapid start. As I have mentioned in my previous Edward Mullen book review, I find his use of details very effective and immersive. Off the top of my head I can recall Amy and Nick's paranoia and feeling of being watched, how Nick's nails grew to 5 inches during his time in captivity and the general description of his deteriorated body, and also other details of surroundings like how the shower in the house that they lived in at first was golden and had 6 heads or something.

In summary, a creative and original book. It's bound to make the reader reflect on the concept. It's aesthetically appealing and easy to visualise, and finally it's easy to read from start to finish and doesn't get boring at any stage the way that some books do. I thoroughly enjoyed it and even reread it a few times.
