How many sheep are grazing on the mountain? One hundred. The shepherd watches them 'with care, guards each one from beast and bear.' But what happens when one becomes lost? Children will delight in helping the shepherd search for the one lost sheep. This Bible story gives parents opportunity to let their little ones know how much the Good Shepherd loves them.
A perfectly cute retelling of the biblical parable of the lost sheep. I picked this up to help me retell this story to the 4-year-olds I teach at church.
This was a pleasant little read! It had super cute pictures with an accurate Biblical retelling of the Lost Sheep Parable by Jesus!
The way the author retold this parable for a child was great! I love the rhymes, the counting, and noises that were excellently weaved throughout this short little book! I also liked how at the end how Rhonda includes how God is our shepherd to make the story personal to young ones lives!
The illustrations were good! I don't think my son liked them as much since he didn't seem very enthusiastic about the pictures (well except the dog)! I think he was most excited about the dog and looked for him on every page! I also liked how the illustrator gave the lost sheep expressions of happiness and sadness!
Overall, this is a great story to use to teach children between the ages of 4-8 of the lost sheep parable! The rhymes are catchy and engaging as well as the pictures help bring the story to life!
I give One Lost Sheep a 4 out of 5 stars!

This beautiful picture book retells Jesus' parable of the lost sheep found in Luke 15:3-4. It has wonderful, warm pastel artwork and delightful rhyme text. Hearts of young children for ages 4-8 will understand the simple message of a loving shepherd realizing that one of his sheep is missing and leaves the 99 sheep to look for it. This is a fun and engaging book with adorable sheep, attractive shepherd robes and peaceful pasture settings. I especially like that the heart felt theme of the story comforts and reassures little ones that they are loved by Jesus, the true and faithful shepherd.
