This well-crafted, dark, disturbing NC17 contemporary Philadelphia paranormal gets off to a VERY slow start, but sees a lot of action before some of the players are played at the end of a very long reading day.

Bindu Chris Turner Extraordinarily book! Was slow at first, but picked up by the end. The dialogue and street language were realistic. **Some blood and torture triggers

What happens when a street kid gains a paranormal power? This book explores this in a fascinating, visceral way. The spunky teen lives in a halfway house, trying to make her way in a tough world. She becomes target to unscrupulous people. She faces down an insidious underground organization and all hell breaks loose. I enjoyed the gritty urban vibe to this, the 'real-world' characters and lingo of the various toughies on the street. There was a surprising ending that still has me thinking if there is more than science fiction to this. Gripping read!
Gripping read. In the tough, gang-run streets of Philadelphia, a teen in the juvenile justice system struggles to find her way. She goes over and above to help other victims of an insidious conspiracy. Book has overtones of S. King's 'The Institute'. A jewel of a story.
