Sinuous: The Black Hat Riders MC

Rate this book
I found my mates and for a short period of time, that was great.Life was great.I was great. We were great. But then I was kidnapped... again. But this time, it wasn’t by my two terrible twins, Wraith and Lull. Not that they needed too, I’d already fallen for them hook, line and sinker. No, it was by a rival gang that we didn’t even know existed, The Curious Demons. What better way to start a war than to take the other gang’s girl? These fictional fuckheads have obviously played way too much Mario.I’d love to pretend that I’m not my mother’s daughter. But at the moment, I’ll just pretend that I’m the meek and mild girl that everyone expects me to be.The bookworm, the recluse, the scared, skittish girl. But these Curious Demons don’t know who they’re messing with. My mates don’t understand the depth of my wrath and how easy it is to let it free.“Smile at the obstacle,” my mother told me, “for it is a bridge.”And may the bridges I burn light the way.

Couldn't finish

Monday remembers being hit on the head, tossed in a van- again, and is now waking up in a cell. Two weeks of near starvation have left their mark, leaving her weak to an attack. She deters him but spends another week hungry until a knife wielding crackpot comes in to torture her. And then 3 days hungry and sore before some raving woman in white tells her something she never once thought she'd hear.

Spoilers ahead. Major spoilers, beware!

Monday never once uses her abilities to escape. Especially after the near rape. All this talk about training for kidnappings, and being the serpent under the rose and she stays complacent in her cell, never fights back, and allows someone to torture her? The hell? And then, when she's released, she's going to stay to help find who planned this and is betraying the MC. Her mates, who've been alternately tearing apart the world and underworld or going catatonic, don't comment once on her new starvation look or notice the hundreds of cuts across her torso. Her head was slammed into the wall/floor to help her pass out so the guy with the knife wouldn't get in trouble... But no concussion. No knot on her head. Everything instantly heals the moment her mates arrived. She goes hiking into the forest seeking answers- after weeks of hunger and confinement, isn't concerned about food at all, all wounds gone, and I gave up when things immediately moved to sexy times. There's fiction and then there's leaving all semblance of reality behind. We still don't know much of anything about the mate tattoos. We know nothing about this world-
*Are mythos known to humans? Only select ones? No clue.
*Why did a demi goddess, monster, being trained to withstand torture, and who's not supposed to show any mercy to those who harm her stay in a cell, allow abuse and allow herself to be carved?
*She's supposed to keep Gold's real name secret. She blurted it in front of a half dozen blathering characters, several suffering from madness.
*No super healing was previously mentioned.
*How could the 4 Barons, Medusa, and 6 mates- some who are gods, not find her? Especially with witches available. Can they not track a mate bond? Do a tracking spell? They can glamour themselves.
*Monday is worried about the kidnapping planner doing this again. Meanwhile the guys haven't mentioned that the MC is also drug dealing. To kids.

I tried. I really did. There are some really great one-liners in here. But too much kept skipping around, her behavior didn't make sense, plot holes kept appearing. So I surrendered at about 60%.

Mind-Blowing

Wow!! I can’t be happier to have stumbled upon the first book in this series. I was so blown away by it that I couldn’t wait for this second book to release. The way the author brought mythical legends and storybook legends together seamlessly just speaks volumes to the level of creativity to be unleashed. Excited to see what the third book has in store for Monday and her mates. I’d love to learn where Sweeney ends up. I’d like to see if there’s a future with Truth and her crazy harem. Such a good read.

Stunning

Monday's life gets completely turned around in this book and I love how she gets stronger and more involved with her mates and allies. The MC theme is definitely stronger in this book and I'm excited to see what that means for the Black Hat Riders in books to come. The part where they're separated was heartbreaking and the guys reactions were really well done. I can't wait to see more of her, her mates and Medusa in the next one!
