Lee Ryder is a new to me author. I was looking for a short read and this one popped up so I thought I would give it a shot. It turned out to be a really good read. It's an emotional and deep read. Dani is a lifeguard with a great friends. When a life threatening illness strikes we get to see a very strong Dani. She has amazing friends and a new love interest, Erik. I really like that some of the issue in the story are not sugar coated and given like the really are. This one definitely pulled at my heart strings.
I enjoyed this book. The story was sweet and heartwarming. I enjoyed the character and their banter. However, this book needed a proofreader prior to publishing. There were somethings that just couldn't be overlooked by my OCD brain. Also, if this is classified as a romance, then I needed more romance between Erik and Maggie and not the little bit I was given. The ending seemed a little rushed, too. So, as much as I don't like giving this book three stars, those things listed above are the reasons I couldn't give more.
This book describes recovery in so many different levels that it will really draw on your heartstrings. This book is filled with teachable moments. I really enjoyed its purpose, setting, characters and story.
