Why she wear that…Look at her…Somebody her size shouldn’t…She ain’t gonna never… Kids can be cruel, but it was what their parents whispered about me when they thought I wasn’t listening that affected my self-esteem the most. - Justyne
Justyne was teased about her weight for the majority of her life. From the kids at school to her mother’s friends, she was constantly put down and berated by her peers and others because of her size. It became the norm for someone to judge her based on her looks, not what was in her heart. Discovering her boyfriend Josiah was using her for his own personal gain broke her spirit for the last time; she realized she’d been giving herself away for the sake of others for far too long.
Enter Leandré, the police officer who women loved to see in a uniform and on their arm. Dating had become too easy; he longed for THE woman that made him take a second look. Responding to Justyne’s cry for help when Josiah stole her car, Leandré ’s faith in love at first sight was restored. But would she reciprocate? Or would Justyne brush him off as yet another user?
Leandré and Justyne’s worlds collide on a steamy night in Jamaica when a one night stand turns into something much more life changing. Will the change bring this unlikely couple together? Or does Justyne let her insecurities about her weight stand in the way of her chance at happiness? Find out if Leandré ’s promise is one that he keeps and if Justyne chooses to love herself above everyone else.

There was a hell of a lot happening in this short read! I felt for Justyne, as her self-esteem had been shredded to nothing her entire life. Her heart would tell her she deserved better, but her mind would tell her that she had to accept what she was given; even if it was not in her best interest. Leandre! I wanted to like him so much, but those cowardice decisions he was making, made me want to knock him upside his damn head! 😡 How you let another grown man, punk you into something that significant that you don't want to do? Then wanna come back demanding things, with all that baggage you got? Ughhh...... I'm happy Justyne finally found her happy, but all that ish was messy! 👍👍
So this book didn’t make a whole lot of sense. Leandre just knew he was going to be with Justyne after coming to her rescue? There was no build up, he didn’t court her, we didn’t read about the conversations they had, there was nothing he did to set himself apart from Josiah. And then throw in the “marriage” aspect, that just felt like the problem filler in the book. I think if we had some more history on the characters, especially Leandre, what type of man lets another strong arm him into dating someone he doesn’t want? That’s not a man I would give a second look at. I couldn’t fall in love with these characters because there was nothing to fall in love with. I don’t know these people, because I don’t know their story. I would read another book Fatima, I just think you need to work on character development a little bit more.
This was a really good love story and a quick read for me. I loved the way it flowed and every situation was very believable. I loved the way Leandre made Justyne feel so beautiful. Fair warning, this is a clean read and good break away from all the urban fiction stories with killing, drugs, guns, fighting and some of the other elements. There is some conniving going on but Josiah\James was just a bum...in my opinion...lol. Grab a glass of wine & enjoy this read.
Fatima know she did it with this one. It was something special about this book and I recommend that you read it because you'll love it too. Everything about this book was just so detailed and the storyline was just so different than what I'm use to. I'm glad that Leondre came at just the right time Justyne needed him.
This story has a great plot and good storyline. There were some funny, sad and shocking moments I enjoyed. I was vested in the characters and their journey, but missed the connection to each other. Although this is a novella and it’s hard to pack a full story in them, I applaud the author’s expressiveness. I would however, have loved to read more of a buildup depicting Leandre and Justyne’s love evolving from strangers to insta lovers. It would have made the story and characters so much more impactful.
Short read . He took advantage of her also. He made this whole promise and he is supposed to be painted as this dominant man to then be pushed over by some random and her dad. Then to secretly have relations with her a night in Jamaica, not say anything, get her pregnant and force her to keep a baby ? What was his goal to never tell her ? We can’t put all the blame on him because she was weird also. Keeping the baby bc you think it might be by him , ew. I think if that night in Jamaica was different then it wouldn’t be such an odd story. 2 stars cause details were great.

The title had me so interested. The story line was good but it didn't come all the way for me. Imani is boss behind the scenes and helps Justine grow and enjoy life but Leandre confused the heck out of me. The ending was fair and I appreciate knowing what happened to James but it wasn't necessary. Will definitely read another book by this author.
This was a nice read. I believe this is the first time that I'm reading this authors book, and I enjoyed it. Justyne deserves so much better than what she was receiving. Leandŕe was doing his job and found love. It was nice to see them come together finally be happy.
Justyne was a big girl with insecurities which were made even worse by the man she thought was her boyfriend. Come to find out, he was already in a relationship & was basically using her. Then she meets an officer who really does like her but she lost all trust in men & relationships. Can he get her to open up again?
The story was good just a little all over the place. She never really sat down and loved herself, even with Leandre he was “married” and she still was almost like a door Matt. Still calling him her man and all. I love their story but felt she should have gave in a ultimatum or something he was with that woman to long
This was an ok read. The storyline just wasn't a hit for me. Justyne was a woman who didn't love herself. But I'm glad she finally found herself. I just wish the storyline was more development.
I love this book. Its sad how so many men try to prey on women they feel is weak when all that women is lookin for someone to truly love her. I am glad justyne was able to find her true love and be happy I want something like that one day n I pray I find it.
This was my first time reading a book by this author and I must say that I wasn't disappointed at all. I love Justyne and was happy when she realized that she deserved better that what she was getting. I was happy that in the end she gotten a happy ending.
This was good, however the timeframe was backwards. You can't start the story of how they met, but next chapter it was two years ago when they had a one night stand on the island. Other than that, story was good
I liked the way the story felt warm and cozy. Quick or insta-love stories don't always hit the mark. In this story, love was a forgone conclusion and hit the mark square in the center. A good good read.
The story was very important and loving yourself. It's sad when others don't get to know you because of your outer appearance, instead of getting to know your heart.
It turned out Leandre did keep his promise after all.
Yasssss Justyne get your man girl!!! I live this book and it’s a problem in the world today!!! People be so focused on outside appearances instead of the good that is inside of people!!!
Leandre`if he realized that Vandi's father played him why didn't he leave sooner? Justyne was just looking for someone to love her like she loves them.
This was a good read. It was about Justyne learning to love herself. Josiah was only with her for his own selfish reason. I was so glad when Leandre came along he was what Justyne needed.
I loved the message behind this book. To always love yourself just the way you are. But the writing style was all over the place. I’m glad they got their HEA.
This was a good book about self esteem and self love. Justyne had childhood and adult issues. Leandre was a determined to show Justyne that she was worthy of love.
This book is solid & UBBER frustrating. If your are looking to get into a book where you HATE your MCs but you can't stop reading cause you NEED to know how this ends this is that book. Currently FREE w Kindle unlimited 🤗
