E: Mills&Boon phone in service. Elinor speaking. How can I help you?

L: Hi it’s me. Lynne

E: Lynne? You don’t usually call.

L: I know, I know. But I’ve got a tight schedule and I need to phone this one in.

E: All right.

L: Okay – hero is a younger son of a desert king. His older half-brother is set to be the king of – I don’t know -start the country name with a Q. Older half-brother has a jealous wife who thinks her husband is interested in the nanny.

E: Heroine?

L: Yes – let’s mix it up and make her tall this time. Red hair. Virgin. Low self-esteem though.

E: Dyslexia?

L: No, she’s just average but her professor father thinks she’s stupid.

E: So the hero meets her how?

L: She’s staying with her charge on his estate. He goes horseback riding with her – Oh, damn. I think the smoke alarm is going off. Look. He seduces her to save his brother's marriage. Gets her pregnant. Forces her to marry him. She leaves him on the wedding day when she overhears the sister-in-law scolding him not for seducing the “slut," but for getting her pregnant. Heroine hides for 18 months.

E: How long? 18 months?

L: I knew I shouldn’t try to bake and do a half-baked story. Sorry where were we-

E: Heroine hides –

L: Oh, right. Hero finds her. Doesn’t believe her about her mother’s backstory.

E: Her mother?

L: Yes, yes. Mum was an old girlfriend of the older half-brother, but he had to give her up. That’s why he was so nice to the heroine. Heroine has had the betrothal ring in her possession, which is why the sister-in-law -

E: Can you speak up? That alarm is really loud.

L: Oh, it doesn’t matter. Once they’re in the Q country just get them together for sex. Hero will need it since he’s been celibate since their wedding day. Have the brother die, but not the father. And throw in a helicopter crash for the heroine to realize she loves the hero. And have the hero find mention of the heroine's mother in his brother's papers.

That will work.

Wait. I need whimsy. Have the hero bring back the heroine’s pony her father gave away – put it in the epilogue. Make the pony recognize the heroine even though she’s old and gray.

E: Will do. I can do a rough outline for you and send it back to put your special Lynne Graham touches on it. Even your phone-ins are enjoyable stories.

L: Thanks! You’re a life saver. I’ll name the heroine after you.

Attempted Re-read...

I attempted to re-read this mess and DNF'd at Chapter 1.

I refer you to StMargarets review for the Behind the Scenes Story...

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

My old review...

Ay caramba, I'm in the first chapter and the 2' by 4' or a skillet is already needed. Based on the hysterical pleadings of his frumpy SIL and the fact that the h said her father took her horse away and allowed her no outside interests as a teenager, the H comes to the bright conclusion, sensual mouth tightening et al, that the h is a promiscuous slut and in need of seducing. By him, of course. Asssistant: 2' by 4' stat. Bang, bang, bang and BANG!

Any typos are probably a result of my broken finger, thanks to stupid Lola, one of our dogs that I loved a little more this morning than I do right now. One word: squirrel.

Anyhoo, since I abhor violence against dog, I shall apply the to by four to the resident ass-hat, the H aka jerk face.
TROPE ALERT: The H, an arrogant sheikh, monologues ad nauseum about how every action the heroine does from discussing her employer, the H's half-brother, to fricking shrugging are attempts to lure him into her seductive web.

Not to slut-shame, but, yes, I am going to slut-shame, or maybe stupid-shame, but please! Maybe you should NOT have gone to bed with the devastatingly handsome 6' 4", alpha-bossy male you had one argument with and one horseback ride !

PLOT:

The h is nanny to the heir of a sheikdom. The aforementioned whiny wife goes to get BIL as she thinks her womanizing husband is after the hussy. Heavy sigh, the H falls for it as all women are gold-digging fill-in-the-blank. The H gets the h in bed, and if it weren't for blood on the sheets, he wouldn't believe she was a virgin.

She ends up pregnant. They have a soulless wedding after which the SIL appears in tears AGAIN this time to wail about the poor H falling on his sword to marry such a tramp. This admission pretty much puts the kibosh on any sense of enthusiasm for honeymoon or marriage so the h leaves.

It takes the H about a year to find her, and he's not happy. He takes her back to the sheikdom tossing accusations along the way. He doesn't believe the story there was nothing between her and his brother, or the story that his brother was actually in love with her mother during college. An evil cousin tells the h maybe they could co-wife which is a setup when the h mentions it to the H he's insulted she could think he could be such a cliche. Plus, she is still an opportunist. Yes, sirree, that's what opportunistic gold-diggers due when they marry wealthy sheiks: they run away and have their babies.

The re-marry in a bigger, better wedding and spend some time in the desert together. Passion in the sand, and the H undergoes a personality transplant.

Bumping to a 3 star for an adequate grovel.
I would have loved the SIL to have spent some time in the dungeon for all the trouble she stirred up, what a wet blanket.

I thought this book was fantastic! The hero believes the heroine Elinor is sleeping with his married brother and seduces her in order to save his brother's wedding. But Elinor is innocent and she has no idea of Jasim's evil plan. She falls in love with him and she thinks he also has feelings for her. When she finds out Prince Jasim slept with her just to save his brother's marriage she flees alone and pregnant. Several months later Jasim finds her and takes her back to his kingdom so his son and heir will take his rightful place in life.

I loved Elinor. She is a strong, courageous, honest, loyal, determined, forgiving, wonderful person and she is definitely one of my all time favorite heroines. She's so brave to be willing to sacrifice herself and went to the Quaram kingdom knowing she is misjudged and unloved by her Prince, leaving her home behind all for the sake of her son.

Prince Jasim can be cruel and cold but he has integrity and is faithful to the heroine during their months apart. I love how protective he is towards his wife and he practically shone with love for his son. He is an alpha male who is loving, caring and very stubborn.

I loved these two together. Their chemistry together is beautiful and of course Lynne Graham has a way of writing sweet and passionate sex scenes!

1-1/2 stars. This was a bit tiresome. There was nothing different or fresh really even though I am generally a fan of LG's books. It was like one of those children's books where you choose a head for your heroine then a bodice then a skirt and finally shoes from preset options.

Virgin heroine drunk the first time they meet and wearing a formfitting dress, check off the "slut" mark.

His married brother seems to be enamored of her, the nanny, and the brother's wife wants the hero's help to get her out, check off the "believes what others say about her rather than using his own judgment" mark

He talks her into bed within 36 hours to prove she is a slut thereby making her lose her job, Check off the "delusional reasoning on the part of the holier than thou man whore" mark

He had a bad time previously with a gold digger, check off the "all women are the same" mark.

Pregnant first time out and a rushed unhappy wedding, check off "super sperm" mark.

She overhears the particulars of the plot to get her away from the brother and immediately runs away Check off the "spineless ninny" mark.

He finds her after she somehow manages to hide from the super rich sheikh for 18 months Check off the "he buys her place of employment to get to her" mark.

Let's just go ahead and check off all the rest of the pertinent marks: blackmail using custody of child to force wife to move to random other country with him, random trouble making other woman, hero continues to be an ass and still refuses to believe his wife is not a lying slut, old king tries to make up too late for ignoring his son because of something the son's mother did, near death peril for the hero prince and apologies after the hero finds written proof of the heroine's story. Check, check, check, check.

All this adds up to forgettable and same old same old and I'm not really buying the HEA but since I really didn't have much belief invested in the book, no biggie I guess.

This book had more Harlequin plot devices than you can shake a stick at. We had:

- Powerful rich Sheikh who has women falling at his feet from his unrelenting machismo. He is also very jaded and cynical after being duped by a socialite English party girl who went as far as - and I am not joking - having a hymen surgically added to make the hero think she was a virgin. So now he doesn't trust any women and knows that the heroine is just a slutty gold digger after his married brother's money.

- The innocent virgin heroine who lost her mother and had a mean uncaring father who put her down

- The hero sees the heroine in a fitted dress and thinks right away that it was proof that she is a promiscuous girl willing to lie, cheat and steal her way through life.

- The revenge deflowering

- The insta-pregnancy after one night of loving

- The "you betrayed me so I will disappear while pregnant and you can't find me for 18 months". Seriously, how can she disappear so well that a rich powerful man can't find her.

- Endless hateful encounters with the hero upon reconciliation. Then a few misunderstandings lead up to the big finish of both suddenly declaring their love for each other

Even though the story is a bit ridiculous, it did keep my attention and had me reading to see what could possibly happen next.

I really didn't care much for this book. It took to the very end for the hero to trust the heroine and it was of his own making that he was convinced she was a gold-digger, liar and slut.

Actually I felt it was depressing and was glad when I finished with it. Hero was extremely cruel and the sister-in-law was nuts, an absolute fruitcake.

99% misery and heartache...barely 1% decent. Too unbalanced for my taste.

I tried a reread to see if my mood might have had something to do with how I felt about this book but I still didn't care much for it. I did raise it 1/2 star. Why does it have to take more than 200 pages to try to figure out if he loves her while he treats her cruelly and calls the virgin awful degrading names. She deserved so much better than him.

Unable to recommend.

2nd Read was just as good as the first. The hero totally misjudges the heroine thinking that she was a gold digger after his way older brother. but she wasn't. The older brother had been in love with the heroine's mother and asked her to marry him but circumstances forced them apart. Her Mother had died but the older prince still asked her to be his nanny. He had no romantic feelings whatsoever but his wife still thought something was going on and asked the younger stunningly handsome brother to seduce her away from him. He does but he discovers she is innocent. He had been played badly by a woman a few years back and he was really untrustworhy plus his Mother deserted him and you know the drill. It's a HP. But he finds out the she was really a virgin but he still thinks she set her sights on someone more available and I really didn't like him. But you could tell he was in heavy lust with the heroine and she confused him. After the ONS, he takes her away and puts her up in a Mistress apartment type of situation but she is unhappy and then she finds out she is pregnant. He railroads here into marrying him and treats her quite badly up and during the wedding. She overhears the brothers wife hysterically telling him that he shouldn't have married her and that all he was supposed to do was seduce her away and she runs. That is the one star deduction. She was gone for 18 months. That is just way too long. Of course he finds her and he is insisting on her coming back with the son. I felt so bad for him actually even though he was kind of being bossy. When he saw his son sitting in a highchair in the day care and the baby dropped his food and no one helped him, he was so upset. He went in and got his crying son and took someone elses piece of toast and gave it to him and took him out of there. I just loved that scene for some reason. He really loved the little boy. Eventually all is well and they are re-united. There is a wannabe OW that is a cousin (gross) that wants him, and their Fathers wanted him to marry, but the h eventually chases her off. I love that the hero was celibate during the separation. So was she, but they always are, but I like when the H is and that is when I knew that he loved her.

Really good story. Again, it would have been five except for the separation part. I didn't like that it was so long.

Meh. The second half of the book wasn't as good as the first half. I was definitely bored by then.

Elinor wore on my nerves by the time she married Jasim. Yes, she had a right to be mad but she acted more like a prickly and belligerent brat than an adult. I also felt Jasim only lusted after, not loved, Elinor. I didn't see in his actions anything that spoke of deeper affection, so their Happy Ending seemed less steady than a toddler learning to walk. Not kidding.

It wasn't Ms. Graham's best, but I liked it enough to enjoy this rather predictable marriage of convenience plot. Plus the fact that I loved the epilogue. It was not all about Jasim and Elinor, and they're happy ever after. There's also a resolution for the other characters in the book, which is pretty nice.

"Desert Prince, Bride of Innocence" is the story of Elinor and Jasim.

The plot of this book is simple- Our hero, the Prince to throne of Quaram thinks his older brother is having an affair with his nanny, thanks to his suspicious SIL, and hence decides to bang the nanny himself to get her out of his brother's life. Then what happens is described in the blurb.

Honestly, the hero annoyed me. He went through 80% of the book being a suspicious asshole who thought the worst about the heroine, and was excessively douchey to her. She on the other hand could not prove her innocence to him (not that she should have had to)- and literally all supporting characters- barring the son Sami and h's friends were unlikable. I didn't like the lack of grovel, the below average sex scenes, or the sudden ending where everything was magically resolved.

Waste of my time.

nothing worth to note... still have some sweet moments but too mild for me.

Oh yeah... if the author ever found her way to read this review... "Aziz" is a boy's name and "Hayati" is a girl's name. Neither is a term of endearment. Sorry, I just cant read certain phrases when these words pop up in a 'mushy' sentence... *facepalm*

Overall I did really enjoy this book even though there were a couple problems mainly in the beginning surrounding the attitude of Jasim. I didn't like him at all in the beginning, but my opinion of him changed near the middle when they got married especially the second time. Until that point I was a bit iffy on how I felt about the story.

Surprisingly I wasn't turned off by the fact that they were intimate early on. They basically slept together after knowing each other a day or so. Usually that bothers me. I liked more of a build up before they would get to that point but in this case in worked. I still didn't like his attitude or how he treated her in that scene or the aftermath of the event due to his misconceptions. Though that increased the drama, which was really good. His mistreatment not so much. He was just too cold and calculating about the whole thing. Didn't care for that.

What did work was how it was shown they were very, very attracted to one another. It was something that I felt and could believe. It didn't feel contrived which was the reason I didn't mind them giving into their passion early on. The development of their attraction was just really well done I thought. And it also made it really entertaining too. That doesn't hurt either.

I loved all the tension (sexual and otherwise) and friction between the two. It was just really good how it all played out. It made it even more entertaining to read. With the tension/friction between them it just created all this emotional turmoil for both and made the story have this feeling of a roller coaster ride. I love that. There were so many misunderstandings and hurt feelings going on and I felt everyone. I really felt for Elinor. My heart hurt for her and with what Jasim put her through. It created nice drama and made the story interesting. So the tension was good.

Going back to Elinor. I really enjoyed her character because there was a nice character arc for her. In the beginning she was this naive, innocent girl with stars in her eyes on b regards to Jasim. She fell in love with him very quickly, which at first I didn't like because I thought it was too quick, but once I completed the story then it made more sense for me because it showed her growth. I loved that. She just became this strong, independent woman whose only concern was for her son. She was no longer the googly eyed girl. She stood up to Jasim and put him in his place at times. She didn't make it easy for him and made him work a little bit, refusing to be his doormat. But underneath it all was still that vulnerable, hurt side that she was so desperate to hide from him. It was interesting to see the struggle within her. Just seeing her dealing with her issues making it very interesting. I really felt for her and what she had to go through during her lifetime. I loved how she became a woman.

Him I wasn't a big fan because he was such an arrogant, condescending jerk. I mean he was ruthless when he seduced her and had no remorse about it either. Yes he wanted her, but he also have ulterior motive too, which was cold and really caveman like thinking that if she was "his" then his brother would leave her alone. Basically with Jasim being the "winner". Sexist pig stuff. And the way he went about seducing her was so unromantic it wasn't even funny. He was arrogant about it. And in a way I felt he coerced her into it the first time. It was a bit of a turn off and not sexy at all. But like I said as the progressed he got better especially after their separation. Then he grew and matured a bit. Was he always right? No. But he did have a point concerning being kept away from his son. But he still had misconceptions about her despite her not having the qualities he attributed to her. However, he did show his tenderness and caring side towards her. Then I slowly began to see him fall in love with her while in the beginning I didn't. So he grew on me.

The first love scene I didn't care for because it was more cold blooded on his part and it was really just about lust. The next two scenes were very different and very satisfying. The wedding night scene was so beautiful and tender that it made all the crap they went through made it worth it. I just loved the scene because there was passion but also emotion to back it up. I could feel their closeness at that point and feel their love for one another. And same for the third scene, which was a little bit more passionate, but the emotional closeness was still there. It was satisfying. I enjoyed their honeymoon scenes very much both the physical and non physical. Love was in the air during that time.

It was an enjoyable read and what I expect from a Lynne Graham book. It was passionate. It was angst filled. Lots of drama and delicious tension that I enjoy. The growth of an innocent girl was really good to see. An alpha male that made up for his insufferable attitude and treatment of Elinor. I enjoyed seeing them fall in love at the end of the book during their honeymoon and just all the tenderness during the second half. The beginning was iffy but the book got really good in end. It met my expectations and I enjoyed myself. So well done Lynne Graham.

She blames him for her pregnancy, because he hadn’t used condoms. So why was she not on the pill then before she slept with him. Don’t rely on a man you hardly know to protect you from pregnancy. * sigh *

Lynne Graham’s h’s are a mockery of today’s women. Her h’s are blonde bombshells (unless she wants to depict a plain looking h, then suddenly the h has brown hair).

All of her h’s are utterly helpless when it comes to protecting themselves against pregnancy by the stranger they have just met.

All of her h’s have no career - and if they do have a job, it has something to do with children or cleaning.

Sorry but this was seriously lacking in originality or interest: it was underwhelming. The hero was simply ridiculously stupid and cruel and lacked any self awareness whatsoever. The heroine was an idiot on virtually every level. All the secondary characters bar the king, were unpleasant and never got their comeuppance.

The story was so full of stereotypes and over used tropes as to be beyond boring. LG normally writes so well, but this one was so disappointing. I skimmed the last half.

This story was a classic Lynne Graham to the last bit. Ok the hero was supposed to be Arabic; but really he was an Arab in name only. I really hated that aspect of the story, but if I imagined he's a western man then yeah the story was enjoyable and the ending was perfect for me since I adore happy ending with a lot of kids.

My favorite part- When Jasim said "I love you" before she did. Other than that, I hated that he seduced Elinor to "get her away from his brother", though he later said that that's not why he did.

I like secret baby tropes but in this case the hero knew heroine was pregnant when she ran away...I like the back story of the tragic love affair between Elinor's mom and Murad and wish Jasim had confronted Murad and cleared up the misunderstanding because Murad deserved it. The reason the king never knew about Elinor's mom was credible so there's a sense of regret...that the romance took place at the wrong time.

Jasim had the terrible burden of oaying for the sins of his mother and coupled with being conned by a scheming socialite it's no wonder he didn't trust women in general.

The insta-lust and baby threw everything into a mess and at least they both found their way to each other and a happy ever after was to be found.

PS. I was kinda expecting the hero to find her childhood pet pony and gift it to her for their wedding anniversary LOL

Made an account just to say this is the worst MC I have ever encountered. She’d whiny, bratty, self etitled, mildly racist and dumb. She is so unlikelable I felt ill reading this, no idea why anyone would be attracted to such a shrew. The ML is better but just as stupid. The plot is literally her being ignorant and rude, he rightly calls her out for being a brat but then continues putting up with her shit, she turns the situation around so she’s the victim (oh how could ML say this to me?! Um maybe because you said something first?) repeat until the end. There were so many loopholes it’s a joke. Biggest condolences to their future child for having to inherit that mess as parents. DO NOT READ, THIS IS THE WORST!

I was sure I was going to enjoy this book because I absolutely love the second book in this series Ruthless Magnate, Convenient wife, absolutely adore Serge and Alissa, both individually as well as a couple.
Moreover, it's written by my fav author, and had all my fav tropes, alpha male, virgin female, marriage of convenience, an adorable child from the marriage.
Yet, I found the book very tedious. Too much conflict between the couple that went on for nearly 85 percent of the book and got hurriedly resolved in the last few pages.

An arrogant desert Prince Jasim seduces innocent nanny Elinor. Ruthlessly? or just can't resist?

You just love these sexy, bow-down-before-me Princes because you know some sweet innocent woman is going to take him down in a blaze of glory(love) & show him he is not always right.

Did not like it, hero was horrible and it was quite annoying that hero believed heroine and his brother had a thing til the last chapter. It was nice that he was celibate for 18 months separation but I dislike the story and plot that I wouldn't have cared if he had (there's heroes in other books I would have preferred be celibate than this one). 3.5. Good story. Didn't have the blistering angst I love, but did have a solid story. The heroine was a little aloof to me. Not enough characterization for her. Spouted off a little too often rather than being more demure. Just seemed more pulled together because of time restraints than some of the more engaging stories from LH.

Hero and heroine aren't together much in this book. Like at all. So it's hard to believe they ended up happily together in the end since they didn't know each other nor seem too attached to the moments they had. Skip. Quick but boring.
