The Pit List Murder

Rate this book
Pit Bulls are Sweet . . . and that’s no mystery!

Lily Mason and her adorable pittie Smooshie both have a nose for murder, but this is one cougar-shifter who would give her left paw to never find another dead body. All she wants is to enjoy a simple life in her new town, her fixer-upper house, while working a job she loves. Besides, the mystery of whether Parker Knowles, her boss at the rescue shelter, will or won't finally ask her out gives Lily plenty to keep her guessing.

But when an abandoned pit bull puppy leads Lily and Smooshie to the corpse of a local Lothario, she is once again drawn into the seedier side of small town living. Even though she's warned off the case by the local sheriff, Lily is determined to find the killer. It doesn't help matters that more nasty notes are showing up around town, making Lily wonder if the two things are connected.

Lily and Smooshie need to crack the case of the dead Don Juan, while navigating what it means to live in an all human town, before the secrets of the people she cares for are exposed.

The PIt List Murders, Book 3 of the Barkside of the Moon Mysteries from USA Today bestselling paranormal cozy mystery author Renee George, is a gripping murder mystery that keeps you guessing from beginning to end!

Renee George has delivered another fantastic book in the Barkside of the Moon series. I know I’m in for a great story with favorite characters where the animals are very much a part of the story as the humans. There are plenty of suspects that kept me guessing. I look forward to reading more in this series.

I received a copy of this book from the author, my review has been voluntarily submitted.

The Pit List Murder is my favorite book so far in the Barkside of the Moon series. We got a lot more cougar shifting, which I've been waiting for, and we get some progression in the romance department so double yay! I love Lily and in this book she is really settled in Moonrise and making friends. The mystery was great and had a lot of moving parts. People just can't seem to stay alive around Lily lol. I also loved all the Smooshie time we got in the story.

Once again Renee George has a laughing, cheering and turning page after page to see what will happen next! Lily just wanted to settle down quietly in the town where she can be close to her uncle, her last living relative and hope that Parker, her boss who suffers from PTSD at the Pit rescue center asks her out. It is hard for her to try and control her werecat tendencies, but her uncle says to fit into a human town, she must. Unfortunately, trouble seems to find Lily when she least expects it. An emaciated pit puppy is rescued from the two elder sisters and they bring them to the rescue center. Parker begins to rage and wants to go after the person who neglected the dog so he has his friend, the vet check the dog's identification and find it is the self-centered local Lothario, Donnie Doyle, who owns the pup. Totally outraged, Parker and Lily want him punished. After they get the pup checked out they will let Nadine, Lily's officer best friend and her uncle's girlfriend know about the crime. On Lily's drive home she takes a slight detour to Donnie's house not looking to do anything but watch the house. When Smooshie starts acting antsy, Lily opens the car door and he bolts out toward the front door of the Doyle house. With her Pit Smooshie by her side, she sees the door slightly open and calling Donnie's name. When he doesn't answer she walks in and finds Doyle dead. Here it goes again. With the police chief having a grudge against Lily, she has to break down and call 911 from Doyle's house since her phone broke. And so starts a roller coaster with Lily in the middle and possibly her other Best friend, Reggie could be implicated. She must look into what happened but does that also make Lily a target? Smooshie becomes a hero and saves Lily, but why...what happened? And then add to all the craziness and murder, Lily is studying to take her GED and only one person knows that is what she is doing. You just can't put this book down once you start it and I can't wait for the next installment of Lily and Smooshie! I received an ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

I had saved this book specifically to read for my "They Call It Puppy Love" challenge and I'm so glad I did because not only was it a solid mystery and a quick read, I got to spend time with my favorite Pit Bull (and Cass' book girlfriend) Smooshie.

As the book begins, Lily is settling into life in Moonrise. She has made a close-knit group of family and friends and more importantly, has become mom to one awesome Pit Bull, Smooshie. One morning after a girl's night out, an adorable little Pit puppy is found wandering in the woods and we soon learn that Tino's womanizing dad has been killed. Fearing a close friend's involvement, Lily uses her shapeshifter abilities to try to figure out what happened, and learns that someone may be trying to kill her as well.

I really like the characters of Moonrise and George does a great job of mixing a cozy mystery with some interesting supernatural elements. There is just enough romance to keep things interesting and I can't help but cheer on a budding relationship between Lily and her shelter boss, Parker.

I have to admit I feared this was the last Smooshie book but a quick note to the author last week helped me discover that the next installment comes out in May. Yay, time with these quirky characters. My only real issue with "The Pit List Murders" is that I wanted more resolution for Tino. Maybe I'll find out what happened to him in the next book "Pit & Miss Murder."

"The Pit List Murderer" is book three in the "Barkside of the Moon" series by Renee George. This series is one of my favorites by Renee. I enjoy seeing what happens next with Lily and Smooshie. In this book, Lily is studying to get her GED. She is having a hard time with it and doesn't want Parker to know that she is a high school dropout. Her and Parker have had a strained relationship since he found out about her being a shape-shifting cougar. Lily and Smooshie come across another dead body. There are a lot of different things going on in this book that keep you interested and want to keep reading. My favorite line is when Lily compares one of the scenes as to being on an episode of LivePD (I love LivePD, so that made me smile). I can't wait to continue on in this series and see what happens next with Lily.

I am enjoying watching Lily get settled in Moonrise. The thing that I loved most about this book was the progression of Lily and Parker's relationship. Plus she is shifting more!!! The gang is back with another mystery to solve. The sheriff is REALLY loving Lily.

I love Lily and Parker and Reggie and Nadine - pardon any misspellings as I have listened in Audio!

These books are so much fun and I am finding they have a good balance of paranormal and mystery. It is entertaining having Lily be able to figure things out here or there only not to be able to share Alain with she used her advantages that exist because of her cougar side.

This town is interesting and I like how the author is building up all these side stories that weave in and out of each book. I cannot wait to read more!

Smooshie is my hero. In this one that sweet Pitt pup is Lily's hero too. Not so much the sheriff. It seems Lily just can't stop finding dead bodies. She's still trying to recover from the last case where she was a target. As a werecat in a human town, she has secrets to keep. Parker is a PTSD recovering vet who owns the Pit Bull Rescue in the area. Lily works there. She's also interested in Parker for personal reasons. Does he feel the same?

The mystery is good with lots of suspects, a despicable lothario, and lots of characters we love to love or love to hate. Lily is a caring friend and bad enemy. Parker is a scary guy when you go after what is his even if he hasn't declared it yet. I love the interactions with the animals and their owners. We see the workings of a service dog, growing pet, mistreated Pit and some of the ways they rescue them. Its a great story with so many parts and characters that move the story. I love this series.

Don't miss this third trip into The Barkside of the Moon Mysteries from Renee George.

I don't know how many bodies one person (or werecougar) can believably discover over the course of a few months, but I am hoping this is not the end of a very enjoyable series.
So much is revealed in this book that I don't want to give it away in my review.

Originally I never expected to enjoy this series as much as I do but it has become one of my favorites.
I am so happy I was able to read three books one after the other. I did not want to put them down.
There is so much potential here for further adventure.

Lily is not your typical shifter. She is, in fact, trying to hide her identity from those she cares most about. While some of her difficulties in this book relate back to prior stories in the series, i.e. she is called to testify against a man who tried to kill her, and all of the conflicts actually do entangle each other, after all it is a small town where everyone likes to gossip about and stick their noses into other people's business, you can read this book alone and understand what is going on. I just feel you are missing some really great story lines if you do not read the entire series.

Lily is also trying to hide the fact that she did not graduate from high school. She needs allies as she prepares to take her G.E.D. exam. Once again I am so happy about the strong female bonding and friendship that is formed in this series. It is a contrast to the other deceptions in the plot.

The pace is quick and the mysteries intriguing. It fits all the characteristics I enjoy in a cozy series and has more! I believe it appeals to a wider audience and will not put off traditional cozy readers who give it a chance.

Much to her surprise, Parker actually asked Lily if she wanted to ride with him to pick up a malnourished puppy that two elderly ladies had found. He had been avoiding her the past couple of months, ever since she revealed her shifter side to him. So she agreed and they drove over to rescue the puppy. Parker was furious at the pup’s condition, very underweight and with scratches all over. The vet might be able to identify the neglectful owner since the tags indicated Ryan was the vet of record. As they approached town, Parker asked Lily if she would like to join him for his spaghetti dinner – this was progress!

Arguing with herself on the drive home from work, Lily turned down Donnie Doyle’s road – just to observe, nothing more. She wanted to see where the malnourished pup had come from. She knew Nadine would be investigating for them. Besides, it was her cat nature to be curious about things. And she promised Smooshie she would not stop, until she did. But she would not get out of the truck, until she did. As they walked toward the door, she smelled a dead body! Not only that, but the screen door latch was broken and the front door was ajar. Oh no, not again . . . and she walked inside!

I just love this series! The story line quickly captures the reader’s interest and provides a well-paced murder mystery to be solved. Share this new adventure with Lily and Smooshie as they find another murder victim close to home! Find out if Parker is ready yet to accept Lily’s shifter nature and open up for a real relationship!

PIT LIST MURDER is the third book in the Barkside of the Moon series. While I believe they would each stand on their own, it is probably still best if they are all read and in the order of release.

Once again, I could not put down a book in this series. They are fun, funny, romantic, intensely dramatic, and still relatable. This is what a cozy mystery should be.

I loved getting to know more of the town’s people a little better. There are good, bad, and everything in between. Some are sweet, some are sassy, some are quiet, and some are brassy. It is as it should be.

I loved that Lily was working on her education. She is intelligent and she’s finally allowing herself to grow into the person she should have been before all of the tragedies began hitting her family. Taking the test for her GED is just step one.

One last note about the story: the mystery behind those threatening letters is revealed! I was surprised and yet it fit perfectly with what I knew about the person.

The door is open for more adventures in this series with Lily, Smooshie, Parker, and Elvis. My romantic heart wants to believe that Parker is her mate. I look forward to returning to Moonrise, Missouri.

Note: While I was given this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

This is a great book; this is the third book in the Barkside of the Moon Mystery series and is written by Renee George. I could not wait to read this book, this book has two of my favorite things pit bulls and paranormal story. Lily Mason is a cougar-shifter who is trying to put down roots in the human town of Moonrise, Missouri. When an abandoned pit bull puppy leads Lily and Smooshie to the corpse of a local Lothario, she is once again drawn into the seedier side of small town living. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Smooshie and Lily both seem to have noses for trouble. At first glance, a cougar shifter and a pretty pitty might seem an odd match, but they seem to work well together. Smooshie and Lily really seem to rescue each other- and they do it time and again. Both also seem to have a knack for investigating and they are a boon to friends, both four legged and two legged, as well as shifters who are sometimes both.

Love solves everything between this pair, even as it provides them with a wealth of suspects for a man gone astray, and someone with a nasty streak.

In the end, aside from her witchy bestie , for Lily, her four legged bestie is Smooshie!

📕📗📘📙

After a recent re-reading, this was my latest feedback:

Lily is finally ready to take her GED exam just as gal pal Reggie's daughter and her buddy Addy get ready for their graduation

abusive husbands, pistol packing women, other women holding together or working to tear others apart make for drama and action packed reading

along with an heroic pittie or two, and some serious and lusty mate type action, this is a howling good read!

I just love Lily Mason, she is such a strong woman and a great nose for details. It is fun to see her make friends, especially since they are humans and she is a shifter, also making friends is not easy for her. There is real “girl type” interaction between Lily, Nadine and Reggie—it is so real life. This story has a lot more interaction between Lily and the others in town, but it is especially interesting to watch how she and Parker get along.

I will not give any spoilers, although I would love to do just that, but this book clears up a lot of the little mysteries out there. What I love about murder mysteries is that there are so many murders all of a sudden in a place where none occurred in the past. That is exactly what is happening in Moonrise. But on to this story, I was very surprised by many of the things that came to light. That is what makes this series such a good read, you don’t know who the murderer is until Lily does. That really makes this book especially good, you are totally surprised. A well worth reading series.

I feel I cant say much because this is a new release. I refuse to spoil it for others. I really enjoyed this book. I THINK its the last one but I am not sure. I felt this was written better than the 2nd book because for some reason I wasnt feeling that one 100% but loved the first and 3rd. We get a whole new set of problems along with the old and yes again...she finds another body. I swear she IS a dead body magnet. I wanted to kick Parker a few times but on one hand I understood but then again 2 months dude? Really? I will say things do come to light with things that werent buttoned up in the first 2 books. One thing I didnt necessarily understand was the beef the Sheriff had with Lily. Yes, she was kinda finding dead bodies a lot but she was always innocent and always tried to help even getting hurt. Instead of listening to her insight he was a bit of a cantankerous butthole. I definitely recommend the book and this series.

Finally

After sharing her biggest secret in the last book, things between Parker and Lily were more distant than she hoped. Parker just needed some time to come to terms with a world that only existed in books and movies.

When Lily stumbles on another body, a lothario her friend Reggie spent some time with, Lily will again find herself investigating a suspicious death to clear a friend's name. The problem is there are a lot of suspects, from all of the women he slept with and their significant others. With the help of her friends and her special gifts, she'll uncover clues to prove the death was not accidental, as originally thought.

Things are going well for Lily and gang, except for when someone tries to kill her again. I liked that she is trying so hard to have the life she deserves. Going back to school, best friends to have girls night with, an uncle who cares about her, and a man who loves her and just may be her soul mate.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
Smooshie - She is always so adorable.
Lily is not sure what to make of Parker.
It seems that he is avoiding Lily, but that cannot be true, can it ?
When Lily discovers another dead body, it is up to her to find the murder.
I am so glad that Lily + Parker's relationship progress.
I don't want to spoil, but something major happens to them.
You will need to read the book to find out.
The storytelling + the character's build were awesome!
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Lily is a cougar shifter and has a pet pit bull named Smoochie. She us trying to live like a regular human fix her home and deal with a guy that smell's like mint and honey to her. Parker, her Boss and a guy who knows her secret but might not be able to deal with it and his PTSD too.
When a puppy is found Lily traces the puppy back to a dead body. Lots crazyness and fun in this amazing mix of humor, mystery, and adventure. It has awsome characters. OMG I love this story and the whole series is fantastic. I highly recommended it. I could reread it many times and still laugh lol.
Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.

I love this series. I always end up with a smile at the end.
Cougar-shifter Lily Mason and her adorable pittie Smooshie seem to find dead bodies in this different cozy mystery series. With the help of her BFF squad Nadine & Reggie Lily is going to find out who killed the local manwhore and why. And while she’s at it she needs to figure out what to do about her sexy boss Parker Knowles. She outed her cougar to him while saving his life and he has been scarce since. This book can be read standalone but I recommend having read the others in this series (Pit Perfect & The Money Pit) first for context.

Shifter Cozy Murder Mystery
This is another fascinating cozy murder mystery featuring shapeshifters in the human world. This book involves the back story so much that it may not stand alone as well as the previous episodes. The plot is very good with plenty of hidden truths and unsuspected secrets. The author puts together a riveting tale that you don't want to put down. Her writing is so smooth that the story moves quickly. I have fallen in love with this series and have bought them all! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries with a slightly paranormal bent and a touch of romance. I am so glad that I bought this book. I am keeping it to read the series over again!

So loving these books.

Could Lily go a week without tripping over a dead body...........doubtful.

A starving puppy brings her to her next one.

Donnie, a server from the bar she goes to with Nadine and her new gf Reggie, was the owner of Tino.

Being Lily, she goes to check out his home and discovers his body.

The Sheriff, as usual wants to blame her for the death, and call it accidental, she thinks it's not. Everyone, Nadine, knows not to ignore Lily's gut instinct.

Then someone tries to kill her, Smooshie saved her.

Turns out Donnie was blackmailing or had tapes of women he'd slept with.

Just love all the characters.

But adore Smooshie and Elvis ❤❤❤

Kindle Copy for Review

I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Lily Mason and her pit bull would rather not discover another dead body as long as they live. But that is not on the cards for them as once again they stumble across another one with the aid of another dog.

Turns out the body was of a local philander and who was a bit of a womanizer. Once again Lily is involve in the case despite the sheriff warnings. Who really wanted the man dead enough to kill him?
Another fun cozy read by the author.

Just when you thought it was safe, Lily and Smooshie are at it again! When a local lothario is found murdered (by Lily and Smooshie naturally), the police think it's an accident...but Lily isn't sure. So in spite of the Sheriff being on her case, she does some digging of her own. Will she be able to find the culprit? Is there even a culprit? And when Lily and Smooshie get into trouble, will Parker be there to save them? Or will Smooshie save the day? I so recommend you reading this book and the whole series for yourself. I love Lily, Smooshie, Parker, and the whole town of Moonrise, Missouri.

This came at the right time needing a bit of humor mixed with mystery is just the mix needed. This centers around Lily and Smooshie which Lily better watch it because Smooshie could steal the story. Anyways this one is the perfect one for escape into a mystery that will get you involved with the 5 w's with characters that will have you hooked to do it. Lily just has this knack it seems to do yet again what she does not want to do. One thing for sure is that once you start this one you on stuck like glue until you are done.

Excitement by the loads

Once again the author takes us on a journey thru murder and mystery. I tell you that poor Lily is like a dead body magnet, she always seems to find one. She finds one clue after another. This is another exciting story.

This was another page Turner with exciting details page after page. The suspects for murder just keep dropping all over the place. It just will surprise you who the murders are, and the reasons behind it.

This story will just keep you on your toes.

Until Next Time..... Tabi

This is the 3rd in the series. The main characters are Lily and Parker. Lily finds another dead body and almost ends up dead herself but Parker and her are finally making it as a couple. Because she is a shifter, she can smell and recognize a smell of her mate but Parker can suddenly smell it too. That shouldn't happen. Does that mean they can mate for ever now ? So many questions and not enough answers. While trying to figure out who is after her, she is also trying to figure out who was behind the dead body. As she starts to get answers, she can help but wonder if it's too late ?

It's all about Smooshie!!! Ok, and Lily and her friends, and Parker and of course murder. Because you can't have just have a normal day if you are Lily and Smooshie. I love the characters and the mysteries that have to be solved.

This is the third in the series and can be read as a stand alone. However, to have the best laughs and understanding of Lily hijinks and the love of Smooshie, you should read the previous books.

Lily and Smooshie are at it again. Another murder to solve, whether the sheriff likes it or not. Each book just gets better and Lily is fitting in the human world more and more. As I mentioned before, I am not a pit bull fan, but Smooshie is so likeable it almost makes me want to find a pitty like her. I did receive an ARC from the author and am leaving an unbiased and honest review. The books are well worth the five star, I would rate it higher if it was an option.
