A compelling book from the celebrated author of My Rights, My God for young adults who want to obey Jesus' imperative to discipleship by bringing the gospel of Christ to another culture.
I bought this book as a 10 year old. I was on a Christian camp. I had some money left and I thought, why not nip into the bookshop. I bought this book mainly because I loved the cover. I can now say 12 years on, I love its content too. The first part of the book practically outlines real lives of Missionaries all over the world, the good, the bad and the wonderful grace. The second part outlines the beauty of God's missional heart. 'Mission is no divine afterthought. It's integral to everything.' 'Wherever we serve, our calling is the same. Jesus says Go! and as you go, make disciples.' I pray that God will be with me as I live to serve him, wherever I may be.
Great short book on the variety of issues concerning cross-cultural missions. It's simple, easy to read and aimed towards college students and young adults considering short and long term missions.
A seasoned and experienced missionary sent it to me as "one of the better mission books [she:] recommend(s) to people--very practical, insightful." It's strength lies in its wide coverage of relevant issues, great stories from several missionaries, and its sobering call to count the cost for the sake of experiencing a fuller life with Jesus.
