The Thirst for Wholeness: Attachment, Addiction, and the Spiritual Path – A Transpersonal Psychology Guide to Recovery and Inner Healing

Rate this book
Carl Gustav Jung described the addict's craving as a "thirst for wholeness." Grof, a pioneer in the transpersonal psychology movement, draws on her own spiritual journey and addictive experience to explore the issues at the very heart of that craving - the longing for spiritual identity and the yearning to know the true self. Gives a whole new understanding of addiction as a spiritual illness, as much as a physical/mental/emotional illness.

This book should be set in stone! If you cringe like me every time you hear the word spiritual, it’ll be a challenge to read it at first, but don’t give up, it’s worth it. Happy reading & exploring yourself!

This is intense book about addiction but really a lot about attachment. Be ready to look at things differently around that.

This book came to me at a time in my life when I really needed it.
I felt grace and deep validation reading it, reverently finding words after words eloquently describing my hardships, as well as providing non-judgmental insights into the source of it all.

I will certainly go back to this book to reread it in order to retain more.

Strongly recommended to anyone who struggles with any forms of attachment; be it relationships, people, chemical dependency or other.

Depending on the perspective somebody reads this book could be proven either self-improving guidance or very informative psychologically wise. My personal journey at the moment didn't allow me to finish it as it used a lot of spiritual language rather that psychological.
