She takes a job as stable hand at Double H, but she's really there to let her unusual abilities help the group around Hawker Johns in their search for the man responsible for death and destruction - Cameron Strachlan.
Abuse victim. Murderer. Lost boy. The devil. Annie has more reason than most to hate the man, but that is a secret too.
It's a surprise to find Olly at Double H, and nothing about him is like she'd imagined. Olly is hard and angry, and his eyes almost as black as the tattoos on his neck. She knows immediately that she's looking straight into the eyes of the Reaper.
As they spend time together, the Olly she thought he would be slowly begins to show again, but there are still doubts at the back of her mind... What will happen when he finds out? Can he handle her secrets?
Reaper is the fifth and final book in the Birds of a Feather series, a young adult/coming of age series with paranormal elements, full of laughter, mystery, and romance.
The proper way to put it here would probably be to describe how I love to play with our two big dogs, how much I adore my fantastic daughters and how much I love to read.
Another way would be to use my imagination and then I would be a super powerful warrior woman, think Xena the warrior princess (though with less tacky clothes). Or when I think of it, maybe I’m actually more of a Hercule Poirot (sans the suit and moustache). Or maybe I’m like Aragorn, strong and cool and then I might get to meet Gandalf! Or I could be Bella’s pretty cousin and snap Jacob up in a second (yeah, I’m so not team Edward), or wait, maybe I could be like one of them heroines in historical novels who swoon all the time. I’ve always wanted to swoon…
Well, I guess you get how my mind is working (or not working, some say).
Anyways, I like to write. Stories, adventures, romantic and happy stuff mixed up with sorrow and hardship, and bit of laughter here and there because the way I see it – life is way too short to go around feeling grumpy.
Lena North has fashioned a fabulous ending to the Birds of a Feather series with REAPER and trust me, it has all of the elements that drew me in from book one. We have secrets, yes, plural! Some will break your heart, some will make you smile and some will get your blood boiling. Annie has secrets and she isn’t about to reveal them until she absolutely has to as she comes to the Double H Ranch to add her own powers to bring down Cameron Strachlan and rid the world of another monster whose own dark past has made so many so miserable. She didn’t expect to have her heart stolen completely by the dark and dangerous Olly, someone she knew long ago as the REAPER.
Will Hawker, Wilder, Jinx and the rest of their group accept the secrets Annie reveals as truths? Her animal to call may not be avian, but with her own family’s talents, she is a powerful ally to have in the quest to bring evil to a screeching halt. She may also find secrets hidden from her that could bring her to her knees as losses come back to haunt her.
Once again, Lena North blends quirky characters and humorous moments into the mix proving that the nightmares of their shared pasts can be left behind as the future holds bonds that can only be strengthened. Let’s not forget love, the greatest healer of all as once again, damaged souls find exactly what they need to heal old wounds!
Written for an older young adult audience, but perfect for all ages who love well-written reading with touches of fantasy, bold characters who grow with each page as we soar into this world one more time.

I enjoyed this final book in the series. It was a good story to tie up some loose ends and to show a new romance for some old friends. The book Reaper is the compelling story of Annie and Olly. I love the way the people in the book are such a close community. They are a family, with quirky characters in the midst of the group. The magical powers that different ones have make this such a fun series, and make this one a unique book. It points back to some previous events in their lives, but the author does a good job explaining what happened, so things make sense, and it brings recall to those who have followed the series. I enjoy the rapport between Annie and Olly's dad, Sven. It's so sweet to see her help him get through his time of loss. The happy little dragonflies make a fun addition in this story, and fit so well with Annie and her life and her crazy family. I think the way the group accepts her into the fold is great, and they do that throughout the series when a new love comes to their family. I like the stories, but sometimes I'd prefer there be less rough language. I think they can be tough and vocal without that. It's the only drawback that I see in these stories. Overall, I've enjoyed the books, and the way the book ends in telling some of the future story is amazing to see.
Reaper is the fifth and final book in the Birds of a Feather series, and it goes out with a bang! Annie is spying on Wilder's ranch, with something to tell them, and not sure of her reception or the reaction once she does. It feels strange for her to mingle amongst people she feels like she already knows, and yet doesn't. Olly is his usual taciturn self, and yet Annie breaks through his barriers easily enough. Things don't go easy for the two of them though, and the whole gang gets involved to keep Annie safe until Olly retrieves his head out of his butt!
What a finale. Seriously, it was fantastic. I love Olly, I have done all the way through this series, but I will admit to enjoying seeing him make a fool of himself. I wasn't too impressed with some of his behaviour though, and was glad he was made to see the error of his ways.
So many characters, so many stories. I can't say out of all of them which are my favourites! Lena North has done an amazing job of making each of these characters and situations completely different, and yet maintaining the overall storyline. I wasn't sure at the beginning if I would like these as much as I did The Dreughan Trilogy. I can now confirm that yes, I did - absolutely!
For a fantastic coming-of-age story, then I can definitely recommend this whole series, and basically anything written by Lena North too!

Reaper by Lena North is the final book in her Birds of a Feather series. In this book we are introduced to Annie. Annie goes to Double H ranch for a job and to get closer to Wilder and the others. She wishes to reach out to them, because she has been watching them for years. Annie has quite a few secrets but she’s looking to work up to telling them so that they will hear her out. Annie has watched from a far, but she’s had some help with some small friends. Annie finds herself gravitating more and more towards Olly. When Annie’s secrets come to light things go south. Things between Olly and Annie sour. He feels that she has deceived him, but really only by omission. Sadly, things are said and done and Annie leaves Double H ranch. Annie, like Jinx, is a brilliant mind. But because of what she has been through, she hides the truth about herself. She’s hiding in plain sight, but danger is coming and it’s closer than she thinks. For now, she must try to convince Olly and the others that she is who she says she is, and that she has not been spying on them like some of them think. Reaper by Lena North is a fantastic story that beautifully flows and wraps up the series in the most perfect way imaginable. When the opportunity arose for me to read this book I jumped at it immediately. I had no idea that this series would continue the way that it has, but this book is totally worth and probably the best in the entire series. Annie is a unique character with lots of secrets. She’s a genius and she can talk to dragonflies. When I read this and then read about the dragonflies communicated with Annie I literally squealed. I was over the moon when my two favorite characters – Bo and Carson made an appearance. They did not fail to disappoint on any level with their interactions with Annie. The dynamics between the characters is fantastic from start to finish. I love how the author gives us not just Annie’s backstory, but that we get some of other characters as well. It’s unexpected but then it is what makes the story so riveting. I have to warn you, the author is truly sneaky with this story. I got to almost the end of the story before I broke down in tears. There are lots of laugh out loud moments, that’s for sure. There are misunderstandings, hilarious moments, and there are moments of danger. The story stays focused mainly in Norton, but it does branch out. We get to see the connection between the characters, and how they are all interconnected in more ways than one. There honestly isn’t anything that I don’t like about this book. I didn’t want this story or series to end. It will be hard saying good-bye to these characters, but I know that I will revisit them again when I come back to reread their stories. I will warn you of this reader, there will be a couple questions left unanswered, but it’s not really anything that will stick with you at the end. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. If you have read the series and enjoyed it, trust me when I say, you will NOT want to miss out on this final book! I read this book in less than 24 hours because THAT’S how good it is. The ending is truly fantastic overall I have to say. You’ll laugh, you’ll root for the characters in silly moments, your jaw will drop in certain situations, and you’ll cry at the losses that are to come. At the end of the day and at the end of the story, it will all be worth it. Enjoy the ending, because the author has a nice little surprise in store that you honestly won’t see coming. Out of the Birds of a Feather series, Reaper is by far my hands down favorite. A huge thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this book and this fantastic series, I truly enjoyed meeting these characters.
I couldn't wait to read the 5th installment of the Birds of a Feather Series. It is highly recommended that you read the first 4 books in the Birds of a Feather Series to understand the characters and the plot. If you really want to understand the whole saga start with the 3 books in the Dreughan Series. This is the starting of the whole saga which is set in the past. The current series is set in the present so things have evolved. As with all of Lena's stories, the writing is meticulous and captivating. You feel like you are really there. The characters are complex and the plot is intriguing with plenty of twists and turns. What I took from this series is that not to judge people and also to really open our eyes and minds and listen to nature. The answer is there and we really should pay attention. Well done. Oh did I mention there will be a 6th book coming out in the spring.
Reaper is Annie's story and its the final in the birds of feather series and I found it was the perfect ending to this series. Reaper is not a book to be missed, it's another well-written book with a fast-paced story that moves from one dilemma to another and keeps you hooked. i thoroughly enjoyed the story and really wish there was more!!!
overall I enjoyed all the books in the bird of feather series and Lena North has quickly become my new favorite author and I can't wait to read more from Lena North. The last thing I'm going to mention is I love the bond and friendship the characters have throughout the books, the bond between all the characters is unbreakable.
This has been a fantastic series and Reaper was the perfect culmination of it! It was wonderful being able to see old characters and get introduced to the new heroine of this book Annie. Her ability is so interesting and was really unexpected, but I absolutely loved it! Probably one of my favorite aspects of this series is just how the author is able to make such strong connections between the characters that really bring out the emotion of the story, but it also has these lighthearted and funny moments as well. I recommend this book, series, and author!
she is only there to find the man who was responsible for death and destruction. she will use her powers to help them find him and bring him to justice. can she do it? can they find him before he does even more? can she protect the others? a great read
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Annie and Olly!! Olly is one of the most sensitive characters in this series. I was surprised by his reaction to Annie. I really enjoyed how Annie couldn’t play games with her emotions. A true honest relationship. Really good story with a few surprises, both good and bad ones. Definitely recommend.
This is a fantastic book, the last in an excellent series! Secrets are revealed, mysteries resolved, and Annie and Olly's romance is showcased with a sweetly satisfying ending.
If you want to know what I mean in the title of my review then I am just going to say "read the book"! I LOVE the Reaper he is my absolute favorite "Hot humongous stud muffin", I loved them all, but he has this quietly mysterious mojo thing going on that if you haven't already read the other books in this series then you can't quite grasp what I am referring to... A lot of a-ha moments, a mystery unfolds, tissue grabbing scenes, toe curling romance, and as always "spew coffee across the table" totally laughing my butt off scenes! (No joke)!😉😂 With that being said, I hope there's a continuation, because Kit needs his own story...
I found Reaper to be the best book of Lena North's Birds of a Feather a series. Thoroughly entertainin! My full review can be found here: https://aurorabattysbooks.wordpress.c...
This is the conclusion of a great series and not to be missed, this one is another well-written, fast-paced story that moves from one dilemma to another, but if you haven't read the rest you of the books will be lost. This review was originally posted on Books In Brogan
Another great addition to this series. Lena North has delivered a wonderful conclusion to this series. I have been captivated throughout the whole series and am sad to see it end. I felt this book was probably the best out of the whole series. I love how well developed the characters are and how emotionally attached I had become to all of them. This whole series is superb, but I would absolutely recommend starting with the first book, this is not a series where you can jump in at any point during the series.
