Finding Solace was the third book in the Kings of Retribution MC series by Sandy Alvarez and Crystal Daniels. It was a quick, action packed and heart felt read.
Reid Carter was the Road Captain for the MC. He was born and raised in the MC and it was in his blood as the fiber of his being. Reid had been one of my favorite series characters from the beginning. He was gorgeous, smart, sexy, loyal and a totally protective alpha. He was everything I loved in a hero.
Mila Vaughn was the beautiful single mom and friend to Bella (Undaunted, book one). She was also a nurse and care taker for her ailing grandmother. She was strong, smart, loving and uber independent.
The storyline picked up shortly after book two ended, The Darkest of Light. Reid had gotten injured and left for dead in the snow. Finding Solace began with his release from the hospital after a month of recovery. He was surly and difficult, having to rely on help he wasn’t used to needing.
The storyline developed through Mila being the solution for Reid’s live in nurse during his recovery. They had an instant attraction from previous meetings but had never acted upon it or even remotely gotten to know each other until now. The authors took us through a multi-faceted plot revolving around their relationship development, Reid’s past losses and the impact upon his present life, Mila’s difficult childhood, the raising of a child as a single mother and MC bonding.
I loved everything about this series, the author’s writing style, the characters, the interesting storylines and the unexpected twists. Everything. A 5 star read, until the editing errors. This series, with Finding Solace as no exception, had too many errors, thus the 4 star rating.
With that said, I loved Finding Solace and can easily see me re-reading it. And although it was a journey, Solace was indeed found. I’m not sure what’s slated next , but the authors have been teasing us for Quinn’s story, so hopefully it’s time. I expect it to be filled with loads of humor and excitement and I can’t wait!
