Jade survived the Commander’s murderous plot once, but she won’t be so lucky again as he tries his hand at a new game. She will give her life to save Sophie and protect her father even as her new husband, Roan, and friend, Lucas, try to save her once they find out she is saying goodbye. Jade doesn’t want to leave them, but she’s willing to do whatever it takes to ensure their futures.

Roan doesn’t want to believe his father would try to take his bride away again, but when Jade starts publicly saying things to anger the people of their country, he realizes the man whose role he is stepping into is positioning Jade to be the most hated woman in the Command. He fights for Jade as she tries to let him go, but even if he can stop his father from continuing down his deadly path, it might not be enough to prevent the country from killing the woman he loves in time.

One will be lost. One will be found. In the midst of heartbreak, only one will survive.

If you thought Jaded played with your emotions, get ready for a massive surprise while diving into Risen. There are twists in every chapter, and you won't see any of them coming. Not all of them are sad but let's face it, the majority will make your jaw go slack and possibly shake your fist in the air as you curse the Commander.

This was a great conclusion to the duology so if you like romance, action and fantastic characters (which I'm pretty sure you do), pick up this book!

The conclusion to the duology!

In case you were like me and holding by the end of Jaded - this one picks up not long after the first book. We're able to see Jade and Roan slip into a comfortable relationship where they are learning to trust one another and explore what a relationship should be. However, K.M. Robinson likes to torture her readers and rip the rug out from under us!

The Commander has one last trick up his sleeve and until the very end you don't know the fate of Jade...

The ending was perfect!

Read the first one fast. Read this one faster. Unfortunately I do not sleep well...so I read myself to sleep .. except this book had the opposite effect. It was so awful that it woke me up and due to being 2:30 or later in the morning I 'had' to put it down. My compromise was that I read it within a week. Honestly this author captures conspiracies to the tee. I've read most of her novels... she's incredible.

What a whirlwind of emotions.
Somehow Jade gets sucked back into the commander’s plan. It’s even worse than the one in Jaded. Please have your tissues ready and maybe have a stress ball as well so you don’t throw your book or device. Sometimes happily ever after takes a little bit of work to get to. Also prepare yourself for new love as.
P.S. Does anyone else want a cookbook by Annie? Those pastries sound so good.
