A very Beatrix Potter-esque book about a school-aged mouse's diary over a two course during summer term at...Mousefield School. Cheeky devils.
Picked this up as part of a thrift store book haul with my niece Emma in mind. It's got more words than the books that I've been reading to her, so I figured I'd best do a pre-read to see if it will hold her short attention span. She is rather energetic.
I didn't realize this was going to be so British ("school term", tea, a Punch & Judy show). Emma may not understand some of this, but then again, she doesn't understand half of what she sees, so I think she'll take it in stride. The pace is a little slow though and there isn't much excitement or zany hijinks (two staples of Emma-approved books), so I'm not sure this is going to be a winner.
I dug it, slapped on a 4 star rating, but Emma and I will give it a go and report back with the verdict!
