I love a bit of romance and forbidden love just like every gal out there. Marked was just that, and much more. It was a hot, thrilling read, allowing us a glimpse into our innermost, animalistic desires, hopes and dreams, where a strong man claims his mate, and knights still exist to protect the ones they love.
In a world where people fear all that is unknown, and females are not permitted to speak without invitation in the presence of men, Ova is a strong heroine, who bows to the men's wishes but has her own head. After giving birth to King Xor's heirs she dies in childbirth, but her legacy lives on in her little daughter, Ova, and her son, Xan.
In another world, Catherine is new on the job, waiting to meet her employer only to feel something she's never felt before. Her boss, Xan, is a strong leader and an even stronger warrior. Recognising a bond between them, he's not afraid to fight for what he wants, but as much as Catherine's attracted to him, she can also sense the danger that surrounds him.
In a world of evil magic and deadly enemies, Xan knows he cannot protect Catherine forever from every evil to hunt her, unless he can win her heart and gain her trust.
Marked was a romance full of extremely inventive fantasy elements, suspense and sizzling attraction that made me blush a few times. I was astounded by so much originality and the chemistry between Xan and Catherine. The writing was beautiful, the plot kept me on the edge of my seat as I rooted for Xan and the bond between him and Catherine. It was a unique story, certainly nothing I've ever read before, and I've read my fair share of urban fantasy.
If you're into urban fantasy with lots of action and strong, sexy characters, get this. You won't be disappointed. I wish I could give it more than five stars. I'll be checking out more books by this author!

I once again have been honored to read and review another great work by BittenTwice.
Marked is off the beaten path from the vampire works I have received from BittenTwice to read and review. I find it refreshing to see her work expanding out into new, refreshing, and creative supernatural creatures. In the beginning I was a little puzzled as to exactly what the creature/creatures were and what path it was going to take. As I kept reading it all became clear and it took me out of my 'comfort' zone into another realm of supernatural reality.
I found it suspenseful, sensual, and a great page turner. It keeps you wondering what is in store next for the characters. I found great loyalty amongst the creatures in this story, and yes I am being evasive on purpose because I want you, the reader to discover all of the wonderful creativity that was put into this book for yourself. It took me places and has broadened my views of what supernatural creatures I will be interested in seeking out to add to my list of must haves. And there will be a new addition to my vast collection of Vampire works by various artists including BittenTwice.
I recommend this book highly and a must have to add to your collection of supernatural beings. You will not be disappointed and I feel you will want more of what BittenTwice has to offer.

The first thing I want to say is WOW.. This book was a great pick me up read :)
The next thing I am going to do is.. well tell you about it DUH!!
I loved the paranormal aspect of the book, but the best part about it is the unusual twist it brings to paranormal. A lot of PN books these days are basically all the same, either a werewolf, vampire, fairy, ect.. You get my point. But this book brings in a new group and with them come the oh so HOTT King of Cats!!
King Xor mated with a woman of the People, not one of his Pride. He did this for a few reasons but mainly because of the prophecy. Her being the one who will bring into the world the three who will maintain the balance of peace.
Mother Ova sacrificed her life for the love of her King, the love of her young, and the belief and knowledge that she was indeed doing what was right. When the young were born, they were immediately taken to the Pride where King Xor announced Sharizar his Other on the throne and charged her with making sure the babies survived and grew to be strong.
Flash forward centuries, and now King Xan rules the Pride. The King of Cats with his two sisters, Ari and Ova, named for her mother, by his side, have made their place in the world as peaceful as possible.
When a routine trip to New York City suddenly turns into a fight for their lives for the ones left back home in Africa, Xan and the rest of the Knights of Templar take charge. Demon activity is a definite, but who or what demon it is remains unknown. Worst still is no one knows exactly what the demon is after.
Meeting Catherine could be the very death of King Xan. He has an attraction to her beyond anything he has ever felt. She in turn has fallen for him as well, but is scared of his world. Ari has also fallen in love, but with her brother's long time foe slash friend. Last but not least Ova has found a mate as well, the personal body guard of her brother the King.
With all the love in the air, emotions run high and minds may not be as clear to understand the dangers and threats as they should be. In the end it comes down to how far love can withstand, and how strong the King of Lions really is.
I would really REALLY love to hear more of this story. More of Ari's story def!! I hope there is a sequel, there were so many unanswered questions in this book, it is killing me to think of what could happen next!!

“Marked” is a great tale of shifters with Olde World charm that spans into the modern day. Xan, the King of the Cats, is a cape lion and along with his two sisters, Ari and Ova protect a pride in South America. Xan, along with Lucca, Overlord of the Wolves of America, are part of the Knights of the Templar Council. When they are suddenly called to New York to attend a meeting, they learn of otherworldy forces that are working to shift the balance of power to the demons of hell.
Enter one complication (besides the demons, of course): Catherine; a human that is unaware of the other worlds that mingle with hers. Xan is drawn to her, marking her for his very own. But~was he the only one to mark her?
I enjoyed this book a lot. There was lust, romance, and action. I felt like I was Xan being rejected, sad and upset but yet, on the other hand, I also felt Catherine’s hesitations and reservations. To truly be Xan’s she would have to submit wholly to him and forever belong to the pride. I just kept asking myself “Could I leave everything behind to enter a world that makes New York look tame?”
The only downside was the anticlimactic fight with the Underlord demon in chapter 22. It was built up with strength and anticipation but the actual fight with Gerard was a tad too quick.
Please note that this book contains "adult scenes" and language.

c2011. Shifter, lion, Templar, demons. Another Kindle freebie that started off really well and then went downhill into a morass of plot, character names and dialogue. The prose is stilted and probably over-considered eg "He sniffed the air, reading the travelling scents like satellite Intel." Incorrect words have been used to boot eg " Her focus trailed down to wear his pants would usually cut off her view. There is really clunky dialogue and I think used on purpose to try and form some of the characterisation but it did not work for me at all. I think there is a good idea hidden deep inside this offering but clumsily handled. Sadly, unable to recommend.
Update: Just noticed that this was NOT a freebie - I paid £0.49 for this book. **eek** not worth it!
