This Retriever Agency is an interesting premise, and the two main characters are nice, appealing and complement each other well. Also, I found the story inventive and entertaining enough to keep my interest. Sadly, the story suffered from major internal inconsistencies mostly regarding the worldbuilding - the idea of how and why dead souls become members of the A.A.A. wasn't consequently sustained. Furthermore I couldn't help wondering how and why ghosts would need blood tests or CAT scans. And how in all the world did a mother of three who had died from breast cancer end up among dandies, suicides, hitmen and prostitutes?
