Author of contemporary fiction featuring a wide variety of subjects and interest. I refuse to be boxed into a genre, there are so many interesting aspects of literature to explore. I want to give you the unexpected, the new, the thrill, the suspense. All the things you never expected, in twists and turns that make you think about a story, long after you have finished reading it. Not everything I write will be for everyone, I understand that its human nature to be different. But give me a chance, come and explore with me, perhaps we can find mutual ground to enjoy.
This story is about Max and Jenna. Jenna meets Max when her car breaks down. Immediately, Jenna has an attitude and is rude. I’m not sure why. Max is trying to help her and she’s ugly to him.
What I didn’t like about the story is that there was no back story to either character. We don’t even get a clear physical description of the main characters. Jenna gets a job that she has no experience in and Max is in the army. I grew up in a military home so I can understand about TDY’s and unplanned deployments but I just didn’t feel like Max was honest with everything. Anyways, two weeks after they’re married, Max dies. Jenna doesn’t even cry 🤨. I have to remember that people mourn differently. Fast forward to 5 years. Jenna finds Max and he’s looks like a science project with the help of the government.
I would have loved to have seen more character development.
I was really looking forward to this book. Kind of let down. 2.5 stars for me.
Oh, don’t expect erotic steamy sex.

The whole time I was reading in the beginning, from the time Jenna broke down on the side of the road on her way to an interview and Max helped her, I thought Max was already a Cyborg. After his "death" the story turned very sci-fi with very little romance. There was drama with the Jenna/Max reunion. I wish the bulk of the love story was with Max after he was altered. Still, this was a good short read.
This is a pretty good book but wish it was longer and provided Max`s POV. And I would have liked more background info about Michael and more. Overall it's an entertaining read.
This is not a happy ending but it is a bitter sweet story of love gained and lost yet regained. I'm not going to spoil it but it is a tear-jerker. If I had known the outcome, I would not have read it although it was gripping and enjoyable in the end. My review is a knee-jerk reaction so it may not be very helpful. I usually mull over my reads before I review them but this was different. An interesting plot and the two protagonists, Jenna and Max were wonderful together. Their love - feel and resolute. But things happen. Read it and find out for yourself. This is different from Ms. Allen's usual novels but the deep emotion between the characters are still evident.
