It was ok, the similes were way too rampant in a short story though. Some pages there was a simile almost in every paragraph. 'Opening the door like a female MacGyver', 'Looking at you like Ruby when she sees a Klondike bar'.. a few are ok, but this was a little over the top. It's also surprising how dense Dex is.. Cora is clearly more than human, he just refuses to see it. He's also rather unlikeable, a man-wh*re through and through; it's really surprising that a smart woman would be interested in him for more than a one night stand. Way too many comments about needing to adjust so his zipper wouldn't pop off across the room.

The plot itself was good though, so if you can get past all the macho man lines and similes, it's not too bad.

I enjoyed the storyline and the characters but there was one big problem. The errors started on page four and didn't stop to include lots of missing words in the sentences. If you have to constantly read a sentence multiple times, then it detracts from the story. Now I bought the paperback in 2018 so perhaps it has been corrected.
