LRRP Company Command: The Cav's LRP/Rangers in Vietnam, 1968-1969

The new commander of the Company E, 52d Infantry LRRPs, Capt. George Paccerelli, was tough, but the men’s new AO was brutal. It was bad enough that the provinces of Binh Long, Phuoc Long, and Tay Ninh bordered enemy-friendly Cambodia, but their vast stretches of double- and triple-canopy jungle were also home to four crack enemy divisions, including the Viet Cong’s notorious 95C Regiment.
Only the long-range patrols could deliver the critical strategic intelligence that the 1st Cav so desperately needed. Outmanned, outgunned, far from safety, these LRRPs stalked the enemy to his lair, staging bold prisoner snatches and tracking down hidden jungle bases. Hiding in ambush, surrounded by NVA, these teams either pulled off spectacular escape-and-evasion maneuvers in running firefights—or died trying.

What's a LURP ?
Incredibly well written book about life in Vietnam as a LRP. After reading several books on life as a soldier in Vietnam this book really hit home about the truly terrifying everyday activities of a soldier. Long Range Patrol was definitely the scariest outfit in the military you could sign up for. They were all volunteers absolutely the bravest men to come down the road. If the Vietnam conflict interest you this book is a must read !

One of the best LRRP books I’ve read! The reports of the patrols and what these young men in their youth accomplished in Vietnam and across the lines in Cambodia are fear inducing nightmares that helped me understand more about my brothers 3 tours there! Thank you Captain George Paccerelli for all you did for them and they flight crews who laid everything on the line for them as well! May the Creator Bless you all!!!!

Great book
One of the best Vietnam era books I've read. Not a lot of the political back biting that, although factually accurate, weighs the story down. A story about great people doing heroic things in horrible circumstances.

Awesome!!!
This was a very good book about the bravest men I ever heard of!!! Wow!!! To have been in their shoes for one of those patrols!!! I can't imagine the courage these guys have!! I'll read it again to!

Excellent book
Another great book by Mr Jorgenson. The description of the men and their mission give the reader a real understanding of what they accomplished while serving in Vietnam

Good book
This was a very well written book and gave very good detail to each event. It showed he gallantry of a very good team under the most adverse of circumstances.

Great true read.
Recommend to all who served in country during that time. I gained a tremendous respect for the Lurps, their commanders and support forces.

Man, there just ain't enough words to get it across. Those LRRP teams....man that was some insane stuff, gotta give them some SERIOUS respect for their skills and even more for their discipline, to go out and come back alive?
That took some major planning, training and equipment; the sad truth is that the seldom had any of what they NEEDED, they just had one another and their ferocity mixed with a keen intellect and a will to survive.
Thanks guys, thanks for what you did and all you went through for this country of ours; we OWE you our freedom, even those of us that are too ignorant to realize it. God Bless you one and all.
